    Planning and Sustainability Commission Hearing on:Comprehensive Plan Update Factual Basis: Public Schools Report,Economic Opportunities Analysis and Buildable Lands InventoryWhy am I receiving this notice?You are receiving this notice because you have expressed interest in beingnotified ofcertain BureauofPlanningand Sustainabilityprojects,you are onone ofour advisorygroups, or you are a memberofa neighborhood orbusiness association.What is this project about?Portland is in the process ofupdating theComprehensive Plan, beginningwith the Portland Plan, through a processknown as periodic review. On May 8, 2012, the Portland Planning and SustainabilityCommissionwill hold publichearings related to the factual basis for analysis and decisionmaking in the Comprehensive Plan update.InNovember 2009, initial draftsof a PublicSchools Background Report, EconomicOpportunitiesAnalysis and BuildableLands Inventorywere completed andmade available for public review. These draft reports werepresented to the PlanningCommission for review in January and July 2010. In response to community input, staff and partner recommendations,BPS recommended updates to the draft reports. The Planning and SustainabilityCommission accepted the BuildableLands Inventory, pending additional refinements, in December 2010.The Public Schools BackgroundReport, Economic OpportunitiesAnalysis and Buildable Lands Inventory have nowbeenupdated andwill be presented andconsidered at the hearings described in this notice. These reports have been completedas part ofthe factual basis informationbeing compiled for the Comprehensive Plan update.The Public Schools Background Report provides context for understanding the roles that public schools playas physicalplaces in the environment and central elements in complete neighborhoods. The Economic OpportunitiesAnalysis is ananalysis of the 20-year supplyand demand for employment development and land in the city. The BuildableLandsInventory is an analysis ofthe impactofvarious physical, natural, andmarket factors on achieving Portland's targetedgrowth inhousing and employmentoverthe next 25 years.How can I review this proposal?Get a copyof the repone The Public Schools BackgroundReport,EconomicOpportunitiesAnalysis andBuildableLands Inventory will be available theweek ofApril 9th. You can pick up a copy at our office at 1900 SW 4thAvenue, 7thFloor. The Bureau receptionistwill mail you a copy ifyou call 503-823-7700.
