    Equipmentlayoutshallbedevelopedbasedonthefollowingdata:

    P&IDs.OverallPlotPlan.Winddirection.EquipmentDataSheets.IndicativeEquipmentLayoutfromBasicEngineering,ifany.Processpackage.

    2.1.2DEVELOPMENTOFEQUIPMENTLAYOUT

    Thefollowingaspectsshallbeconsideredduringdevelopmentofequipmentlayout:

    ProcessRequirementi.e.properinterconnectionbetweenequipmentasperP&IDstoachievetheintendedprocessparameters.EconomyofPipingmaterialMinimizethequantityofcostlypiping.Erection&ConstructionrequirementErectionschemeandscheduleofallequipmentmustbeconsideredduringequipmentlayouttohavesmootherection,approachroadforcranes/derricketc.SafetyRequirementsAsaminimum,OISDStd.118shallbefollowed.FirefightingfacilitiesshallbeprovidedasperTAC&OISDnorms.Safetyshowerlocationshallbemarkedinequipmentlayout.FordetailedguidelinesreferGeneralCivilDesignbasisforfireprotection.Constructability,OperationandMaintenanceRequirement:

    OverheadandsideclearancesforcompressorsandpumpsHorizontal&overheadclearancesforeasymovementofworkingpersonnelCraneapproachesforaircoolers/firedheaters.ProvisionofmonorailforpumpsProvisionofEOT/HOTcraneforcompressorsProvisionofoperatorscabin

    SimilarequipmentgroupingAllcolumns,exchangers,pumpsetc.shouldbegroupedtogetherforconvenienceofmaintenanceandsafetywhereverfeasible.Thetechnologicalstructuresshouldbeinterconnectedforeasymovementofoperationalpersonnel.U/Gpipingcorridorsformainheadersshouldbemarkedinequipmentlayoutforallundergroundpiping.Allareasrequiringcraneaccessforerectionorspecificmaintenancepurposee.g.catalystloadingetc.shallbemarkedontheequipmentlayout.

    2.1.3PIPERACK

    Ingeneral,equipmentlayoutshallbepreparedconsideringstraightpiperack,howeverothershapeslikeL/T/U/H/Zetccanalsobeconsideredbasedonareaavailable.Thetotalwidthofpiperackshallinclude25%extraspaceforfutureexpansion/modificationsinunitforrackwidthsupto16Mand10%forrackwidthsabove16M.Thewidthoftherackshallbe6M,8Mor10Mforsinglebayand12M,16Mor20Mfordoublebayhaving4tiersmaximum.Thespacingbetweenpiperackportalsshallbetakenas6Mingeneral.Howeveritcanbeincreasedto8Mdependingonthesizeofthepumpstobehousedbelowpiperack,inwhichcaseanintermediatestructuralmembershallbeprovidedinpiperackfortier.

    2.1.4TOWERSANDVERTICALVESSELS(ASAPPLICABLE)

    Towersandverticalvesselsshallbearrangedinarowwithcommoncentreline,decidedbythelargestvessels,placingO.D.oftheequipmentminimum4Mawayfromthepiperack.Aminimumclearanceof3Mshallbeallowedbetweentowershells,butinanycaseplatformsofadjacenttowersshallnotoverlap(minimum100mmhorizontalgapshallbeprovidedbetweenplatformofadjacenttowers)andthataminimum900mmisleftbetweentowerplinths.Thegapbetweenverticalvesselsshallallowfullopeningofmanholecoverswithoutrestriction.Effortsshallbemadetoprovideinterconnectingplatformsatsuitablelevelsforadjacenttowersand/oradjacenttechnologicalstructures&rackwalkwaysetc.Interconnections,whereverfeasibleshallbedoneaftertakingthermalexpansionsoftowersintoconsiderationsAlllevelswitches,LGsetcincludingtheirisolationvalvesshallbeaccessiblefromladdersorplatforms.Tohandleheavyitems(likereliefvalves,blindsetc.)adavitshallbeprovided.Thedavitshallbeonthesideofthevesselawayfromthepiperack.Theareaatgradeshallbekeptclearforadropout.

    2.1.5HORIZONTALVESSELS

    The horizontal vessels shall be laid perpendicular to pipe rack and shall be placedminimum4Mawayfromthepiperack.Theclearancebetweenadjacenthorizontalvesselshellsshallbeminimum2Mor900mmclearaislewhicheverishigher.

    Whereverpracticablepumpsshallbearrangedinrowswiththecentrelineofthedischargenozzleonacommonstraightline.Pumpsshallbekeptoutsidethepiperackwithpumpdischargenozzlekeptatadistanceof1metrefrompiperackandmotortowardsrack.Gapbetweeneachpumpfoundation/andfoundationoftechnicalstructureshouldbesufficientforeasyremovalofequipmentafterpiping.Clearancebetweentwoadjacentpumpsshallbesuchthatclear900mmaisleisavailable.Allpumpsnotopentoskywithmotorrating>=75KWshallbeprovidedwithmonorail.Nomonorailshouldnormallybeprovidedforpumpsopentoskyandsufficientspacebelowrackshallbeavailableforpumpmaintenance.

    2.1.7AIRCOOLERS(ASAPPLICABLE)

    Aircoolersshallbelocatedoverthemainpiperackorontechnologicalstructure.Foraircoolerslocatedontechnologicalstructure/rack,blindfloorshallbeprovided.Blindfloorisgenerallynotrequiredifpumpshandlinghydrocarbonsorequipmentarenotplacedbelowthem.ThewidthofthestructurefromwhereAircoolerassemblyissupportedshallbeabout2.0mmorethantheAircoolertubebundlelengthsothatpropersupportingofinlet/outletpipingmanifoldscanbedonefromthemainmembersofpiperack/technologicalstructuretotransferpipingloadtomainstructuralmembers.Davitshallbeprovidedforloweringthegearboxesetc.alongwithmobiletrolleywithretractablejackingarrangementofsuitableloadcarryingcapacity.

    2.1.8COMPRESSORSANDTHEIRPRIMEMOVERS(ASAPPLICABLE)

    Followingtypesofcompressorsareusedinprocessplants:

    a.Centrifugalcompressors

    b.Reciprocatingcompressors.

    c.Liquidringcompressors

    e.Diaphragmcompressors

    Compressors shall be located to keep suction lines as short as possible. The gascompressors shall be located downwind side of furnace so that leaks are not blowntowardsfurnace.Ingeneralcompressorsaretobelocatedundershed.Whencompressorsare locatedunder shed, sides tobekept fullyopen for the low shedorpartially closedfrom top forhighshed toavoidaccumulationofheaviergases in theshed,however, incase of hydrogen compressors located under the sheds provision for top venting fromcompressorshedsshallbeprovided.In case of a turbine driven compressor, if exhaust steam is condensed, turbine andcompressor need to be located at an elevated level and condenser tobe located belowturbine.Amajorconsiderationincentrifugalcompressorlocationisthelubeandsealoilconsole. Itmustbeaccessible froma road,mustbe lower than thecompressor toallowgravitydrainofoil to the consolesoil tank. Intercoolers&Knockoutpotsmaybekeptwithin/outsidetheCompressorhouseshed,but,shallbekeptnearcompressorhouse.ForcompressorsElectricallyOperatedTravellingCranetohandleheaviestremovablepieceshallbeprovidedforeachcompressorhouse.Maintenancebayforcompressorsshallbeprovided.Maintenancebayshallbeaccessiblefromroadtofacilitateunloading&loadingontotrucketc.Forremovalofbundlesofexchangerslocatedwithinbuildingmonorailarrangementshallbeprovided.Compressormanufacturermaybeconsultedforrecommendedlayoutandadditionalrequirementformaintenance.Licensorsrequirement,ifany,shallalsobetakenintoconsideration.

    2.1.9CLEARANCEANDACCESSIBILITY

    2.1.9.1CraneAccess

    Equipment,structuresshallbearrangedtopermitcraneaccesstoserviceaircoolers,compressors.Dropoutbaymaybeconsideredforexchangers&coolersatelevatedstructures.

    Clearaccessof4.0Mverticallyand3Mhorizontallyshallbeprovidedcentrallyundermainpipewaysforsmallmobileequipmenttoservicepumps/motors,wherevertheseareinstalledunderpipewayswithpriorspecificapproval.Pumpsoutsiderackshallbeapproachablebymobileequipmentsetc.fromunderthepiperack.

    2.1.9.3Accesstoloweritemstograde(LoweringArea)

    Clearaccessshallbeprovidedatgradeontheaccesssideforloweringexternal&internalfittings,PSVs,Controlvalvesetcfromelevatedequipment(columns,towersetc)byprovidingpipedavits.

    2.1.9.4Layout&AccessRequirementsForPlatforms(LaddersAndStairs)

    Forprovidingplatformladder&staircasefollowingguidelinesshallbefollowed:Twomeansofaccess(i.e.twoladdersoroneladderandonestaircase)shallbeprovidedforanyelevatedplatform,whichservesthreeormorevessels&forbatterylimitvalvesoperatingplatforms.Platforms,ladders&stairwaysshallbeconsistentwithaccess&safetyrequirements.Stairwayfortankstobeprovidedonupstreamofpredominantwinddirection.

    (i)Platformatelevatedstructure

    Dualaccess(i.e.onestaircaseandoneladder)shallbeprovidedatlargeelevatedstructureifanypartofplatformhasmorethan22.65M(75ft)oftravel.Aircoolersshallhaveplatformswithinterconnectedwalkwaysprovidedtoservicevalving,fanmotorsandinstruments.AccessrequirementsshallbeDualaccess(i.e.onestaircaseandoneladder).

    (ii)Platformswithstairaccessshallbeprovidedonlyfor:

    Locationatwhichnormalmonitoring(onceadayormore)isrequiredorwheresamplesaretaken.

    Locationswherevesselsorequipmentitemshaveoperatorattentionsuchascompressorsetc.

    Properaccesstoalloperatingpointsincludingvalvesandforallorificetappingpoints,instrumentsinparticular(referAnnexureB).Properaccesstointerrelatedoperatingpointsforspecificpurposeandformaintenance.

    2.2.2PIPEWAYS/RACKPIPING

    Racks shallbedesigned togive thepiping shortestpossible run and toprovideclearheadroomsovermainwalkways,secondarywalkwaysandplatforms.

    Predominantlyprocesslinesaretobekeptatlowertierand,utility&hotprocesslinesonuppertier.

    Generally the top tier is to be kept forElectrical cable trays (if not provided inunderground trench) and Instrument cable ducts/trays. Cable tray laying to takecareofnecessaryclearancesforthefireproofingofstructure.

    Generallythehot linesandcold linesshallbekeptapart indifferentgroupsonatier.

    Generallythebiggersizelinesshallbekeptnearertotherackcolumn.

    MinimumspacingbetweenadjacentlinesshallbedecidedbasedonO.D.ofbiggersize flange (minimum rating 300# to be considered), O.D. of the smaller pipe,individualinsulationthicknessandadditional25mmclearance.Evenifflangeisnotappearingthemin.spacingshallbebasedonabovebasisonly.

    Actual line spacing, especially at L bend and loop locations, shall take care ofthermal expansion / thermal contraction / nonexpansion of adjacent line. Nonexpansion/thermalcontractionmaystopthefreeexpansionoftheadjacentlineatLbendlocation.

    Anchorsontheracksaretobeprovidedontheanchorbayiftheconceptofanchorbayisadopted.Otherwiseanchorsshallbedistributedovertwotothreeconsecutivebays.

    Anchorsshallbeprovidedwithinunitonallhotlinesleavingtheunit.

    Pipingfromvesselshalldroporriseimmediatelyuponleavingthenozzleandrunparallelandcloseaspracticabletovessel.

    Pipingshallbegroupedasfaraspossiblefortheeaseofsupportsandshallrunontheracksideofthecolumn.

    Manholesshallbekeptontheroadsideoftheequipmentandshallbeapproachablefromtheplatform.Platformwidthshallbesuchthatminimum1Mspaceisavailablebeyondmanholeformovement.

    Pipingshallbesupportedfromcleatsweldedonthevesselasfaraspossible.

    Properguidesatrecommendedintervalsshallbeprovidedforlongverticallines.

    Accessplatforms/laddersshalltobeprovidedalongthecolumnforvalvesandinstruments.Minimumclearwidthofplatformshallbe750mm.

    Foreaseofoperationandmaintenance,columnandvesselswhicharegroupedtogether,shallhavetheirplatformsatthesameelevationandshouldbeInterconnectedbywalkways.Howevereachcolumn/vesselshallhaveanindependentaccessalso.

    Column/vesselplatformsshouldbedesignedinsuchawaysothatallthenozzlesshouldbeapproachablefromplatforms.

    Pipingatcolumns/vesselnozzlesshallbearrangedsothatblankscanbeeasilyinstalledforhydrotesting.

    UnlessspecificallyindicatedinP&IDscontrolvalvesshallpreferablybekeptatgrade.

    Reducersimmediatelyconnectedtothepumpsuctionshallbeeccentrictypewithflatsideuptoavoidtheaccumulationofgaspocket.

    Forendsuctionpumpselbowsshallnotbedirectlyconnectedtothesuctionflange.Astraightpieceminimum3timesthelinesizeshallbeprovidedatthesuctionnozzle.

    Pumpdischargecheckvalveifinstalledinverticallinesshallbefittedwithadrainconnectionascloseaspossibledownstreamofthevalve.

    Unlessotherwisespecified,Ttypestrainersshallbeusedonpumpsuctionpipingforsizes2andabove.

    Ytypestrainersshallbeusedforallsizesinsteamservicesandforpumpsuctionlinesbelow2.

    Allsmallborepipingconnectedtopump(draintoOWS&CBD,seatandglandleakdrain)shallhavebreakupflangesforremovalofpumps.PipingshallbesoarrangedthattheforcesandmomentsimposedonthepumpnozzledonotexceeddoubletheallowablevaluesofAPI610.Pumpdischargeshouldbepreferablyroutedawayfromthepumpratherthantowardsthemotorside.Pumpcoolingwaterconnectionshallbetakenfromthetopofcirculatingcoolingwaterheader.Suction&dischargevalvesshallbelocatedatoperableheight.

    2.2.5COMPRESSORPIPING

    Suctionlinesshallbeasshortaspossible.

    Suctionpipingshallhaveadequateflangedjointsforeaseoferectionandmaintenance.

    Where the line between knockout drum and the compressor cannot be routedwithoutpocket,lowpointdrainshallbeprovidedtoremoveaccumulationofliquid.Thesystemshouldbeapprovedbyprocess.

    Aminimumstraightlengthofsuctionpipeshallbeprovidedaspermanufacturersrecommendation.

    Lube oil cooler space shallbeprovided in away so as to facilitate tube bundleremoval.

    Alloperatingvalvesonmainsuctionanddischargepipingshallbe linedononesideasfaraspossible.

    Pipingshallbedesignedso that forcesandmoments imposedon thecompressordonotexceedthemanufacturersrecommendation.

    Lowpointsinthedischargelinefromanaircompressorshallbeavoidedbecauseit ispossible for lubeoil tobe trappedandsubsequently ignited. If lowpointsareunavoidable,theyshallbeprovidedwithdrains.

    2.3OFFSITE&YARDPIPING

    Ingeneral,offsitespiping,electricalcableandinstrumentationcableshallbelaideitheronpipe rack or on pipe sleepers. Wherever piping is laid on pipe sleepers, hardsurfacing/gravel isprovidedbelow it,hardsurfacing/gravelshouldbecompletedbeforestartofpipelaying.Widthofhardsurfacing/gravelshallbeabout1metermorethanthepipingcorridoroneitherside.Thisextrahardsurfacing/gravelshallbeformovementofoperatingpersonnelalongthepipingcorridor.Thismovementareashallbeapproachablefromtheroadatadistanceofevery500meters.

    Flare header shall be sloped towards flare knockout drum. Expansion loop shall beprovidedinhorizontalplaneasperrequirementtoaccommodatethermalexpansion.Thedesired slope shall be ensured throughout including flat loop. Flare header shall besupportedonshoeofheightrangingfrom100mmto300mm.

    Proper thermal analysis temperature shall be established including the possibility oftemperature gradient along the line before providing expansion loops. Efforts shall bemadetominimizethenumberofloops.

    Pipesupportdesignshallbesuchthatdeflectioninpipingsystemsduetosustainedloadsshallnotexceed15mm,betweentwoadjacentsupports.

    Asfaraspossiblelongtrunniontypesofsupports(morethan0.5mtr.)aretobeavoided.Incaselongtrunnionsupportisunavoidableinstraightlengthofpipe,trunnionheighttoberestrictedto0.5mandbalanceheighttobemadeupbyprovidingextendedstructure.

    In theheaterswheresteamairdecokingprovision is there, themain linesanddecokinglines should be supported in such away that either of the lines should not be in thehangingpositionwhennotinoperation.

    Pipingpassingthroughthetechnologystructureorpassingneartheconcretecolumnetc.should have adequate space to avoid restriction of line movement during thermalexpansion. The gap should take care the thermal expansion along with insulationthickness.

    HighdensityPUFblocks shallbe considered for coldpiping supports.Woodenblocksmaybeusedforloadtakingsupportsonverticallinesorasanchorsupports.
