Pine-Richland Band Booster Meeting Monday, September 11, 2017 – 7 p.m., PRHS Band Room In attendance Noel Goldberg, Jill Baxter, Beth Ahearn, Mark Koenig, Ami Moore, Denise Malchano, Sheila Baldauff, John Bober, Carl Ciccone, Lori Jones, Karen Pritchard, Julie Culos, Chuck & Julie Holm, Janet Harris, Tonya Kaib Board Members in Attendance: Lurrene Parker, Lisa Gaffey, Jill Gruber Band Director: Brian Scott Director’s Notes – Mr. Brian Scott The Marching Band is off to a great start – kids doing really well – the directors are happy with progress This is a big band week – football game on Friday and Band Festival on Saturday o Band Festival is at North Hills at Martorelli stadium o Festival begins at 7 p.m. o Tickets available at the door and concessions are open. AV bands performing in addition to the California University band. We expect for this to be a long season as the football team is expected to go into the playoffs. Band is working on new stand tunes. Letterman jacket can be ordered online. They are available to try on in AD’s office. Information will be provide in band emails. Band Trailer update: For a smoother transition, we plan to replace the trailer after the season. We plan to sell the current trailer with funds going toward the purchase of a new trailer with the band boosters paying the remaining amount. Spring Trip information – details be disclosed after board approval. If approved, the trip will be at the end of April. The trip is not mandatory. Thank you to volunteers! Band will not function without your help, and we appreciate your extra effort. If you have friends that have not volunteered, encourage them to get involved. As a member of the Pine-Richland United Booster Organization (PRUBO), PRBB complies with PRSD Policy 915. As such,

Annual Audit successfully completed. Annual Information submitted to Mrs. Bowman. All Policy 915 items have been submitted and accepted.

Band holds a Member-at-Large seat on the PRUBO Board. Spring Band Trip

Destination and trip details will be made available upon approval by the PRSD School Board. Information will be available soon!

ALL trip chaperones must have independent volunteer clearances. The Chaperone List for all events has been determined based on Interests selected in Charms.

The Chaperone Chairs are in contact with this group and making assignments. Trip chaperones will be selected from this Chaperone List.

Individual fundraising done by students last year no longer carries over. Individual student accounts no longer exist.

Congratulations

Senior Troy Rowlands has been selected to represent PRSD and Pennsylvania in the National Association for Music Education All-National Honors Band November 25-29, 2017.

Troy qualified through audition and participation in the Pennsylvania Music Educators

Association All-State Band.

Troy is only the second PR student in 20 years to be recognized on a national level.

PRSD is paying for all of Troy’s expenses.

PRBB is contributing additional funds to cover some expenses for Mr. Stillwagon to chaperone.

Band Wrapping up Seasonal Ticket Sales Kennywood Ticket Sales through August: $25,498 (Net Profit unknown, since payment for tickets

has not been made yet.) Kudos to those who stepped up to sell tickets right before and on PR Kennywood Day! Special thanks to Beth Farbacher for managing this sale all summer!

Band Spiritwear Sales

Kudos to Beth Ahearn, Spiritwear Chairperson, and Jill Gruber for revolutionizing our band apparel sales!

Sales now occur throughout the year. Sale #1 ended July 15 Sale #2 ended August 17 Sale #3 deadline will be November 30 (in time for holiday gifts) Sale #4 will occur prior to the band trip (hoping to offer some new spring wardrobe

items, i.e. shorts) Spiritwear Store is always available online in Charms. Will have a booth at homecoming on October 6 – we now have an inventory to have available at

winter band concert. Open up the sale to those parents. Booth will have inventory to purchase, have hot chocolate, flyers for mattress sale and Stromboli sale, and raffle tickets if still available. If you can help, contact Beth Ahearn.

Must meet deadline to ensure your order is processed for that sale date. Be sure to “Check Out” and “Process Payment” in the online store. If you do not, your order will

Fall Sports Raffle

Annual Fundraiser Kicks-Off Soon! Drawings will be held at the October 20 Pine-Richland home football game. Two Raffles will occur this fall due to the extreme generosity of our ticket donors. Thanks to the

Kwasnick family for the Penguins tickets and the Rudolph family for the Steelers tickets. Many thanks to the Plaza family as well. They were able to secure a donation from Evoqua that includes Penguins tickets and an on-ice Zamboni ride for one!

Keep collecting your Cranberry Chick-fil-A receipts and sending them into the Band Box! We anticipate that receipts from the new Chick-fil-A opening in Pine Township will also be

collectable, since it is under the same ownership. Due to the magnificent success of the Chick-fil-A Food Credit Rewards Program, we have earned

over $500 in free food to date.

Senior Book

This special keepsake is created each year as a gift to the senior members of our Marching Band. The book contains a one-page biography of each senior band member, section pictures of the entire band, candid photos of band members, plus senior ads and business ads.

A special thank you to Jill Baxter for producing the book again this year! Please contact Jill if you are interested and able to assist with production.

Book is distributed to all seniors at the October 20 Senior Night game. To order your own copy or additional copies, see the band website for ordering details.

If you wish to purchase a business or personal ad, go to the “Seniors 2018” page on the website to access forms. Deadline was September 8 if formatting was required. Printer ready ads are due September 22.

Senior Questionnaire was due online by September 1. If you have a senior, please make sure that they completed it.

Samples of books from prior years are available tonight if you would like to take a peek at the format.

Concession and Candy Stand Concessions and Candy Stand are vital fundraisers. As reported earlier in the Treasurer's Report, PRBB Concessions at the first two games were very profitable.

We had a great turn out of volunteers to staff both the concessions and candy stand for our first day game and our first night game. A huge thank you to all who gave of their time!

Many volunteer options and shifts are still available for remaining games. Read emails and check website to access the SignUp.com link to view openings and volunteer.

Many thanks to our dedicated chairs! Team is off to a great start! District will be buying new oven and a few other items for the concession stand.
