Introduction: Electric power quality have become more increasingly important and plays an essential role in power system planning. Electric energy transfer must not be interrupted and at the same time there must provide reliable, stable and high quality of electric power.In this project, we had shown the power quality improvement using STATCOM.

Proposed STATCOM control scheme for grid connected wind energy generation for power quality improvement Wind Energy :The terms wind energy or wind power describe the process by which the wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power. Mechanical power can be used for specific tasks (such as grinding grain or pumping water) or a generator can convert this mechanical power into electricity.9Grid connected wind energy system without compensator:

FFT analysis of the source current using the fuzzy controller, we get 0.40%.THD for a circuit with PI&Fuzzy based STATCOM :

FFT analysis of the source current using the PI&Fuzzy controller, we get 0.17%.Conclusion:This project presents the FUZZY control based STATCOM scheme for reactive power compensation and harmonic reduction in grid connected wind generating system feeding non linear load. The control system for the STATCOM is simulated using soft ware MAT LAB/SIMULINK. The proposed control scheme has improved the power quality requirement of a low voltage grid connected wind driven IG system feeding a non-linear load.
