Term 4 Week - 5 6th November, 2012
“CIRCUS SPLENDIDA”
A huge thanks to all families who attended our production and had their children organised and on time. It
would have been one of our biggest crowds and certainly the best and most appreciative audience that we’ve
ever had.
I thought the children were sensational and put on an excellent show. Staff were very pleased with the
singing, dancing, acting and all performances. We also greatly appreciated all the help with packing up the
hall afterwards. Special thanks to Ms Fahey, Miss Fuller and Mr Mead who played vital but hidden roles back
stage. Without their efforts these shows wouldn’t be possible. I would also like to thank The Progress
Association for renting the hall out at such a generous rate and not charging for rehearsals.
I’m often asked why we don’t do a show every year and the answer is very simple, time! To put on a quality
show takes up a great deal of practice. Yes, everything is linked to the Creative Arts Syllabus but we are
always using more time than the curriculum stipulates. It is now six weeks of more academic subjects to
balance curriculum requirements for 2012. There will be a DVD available of the production, more details later.
UNIFORMS/DISCIPLINE
We have been a little lenient on these during pre-show rehearsals and it is now time to go back to following
policy without play interruptions. I sense that some of our older students believe that I may be a little easier on
them during my last few weeks. The last thing I want to do is punish/suspend students in my last term, but
policy must be followed. It is also very important that we maintain standards for Mrs Crick next year. If
students continually misbehave and run out of warnings they will be missing “Catch a Good Kid” activities at
the end of the term. Students, consistently out of uniform, again, ignoring warnings will not be permitted to
play during breaks. The school is always willing to assist with uniforms so there are no excuses.
BORAMBOLA TOUCH CARNIVAL
Congratulations to all students who participated. It was an enormous effort to back up after the production.
Most teams didn’t have reserves and I was so proud of their efforts. Division One (Blake Jones, Blake
McNamara, Olivia Reid, Piper Streatfield, Lachlan Billett, Aaron Hennessy, Ben Lewington and Georgia
Lewington) were undefeated and in a drawn final, won on a count back.
Division Two came up against a very strong and older side and were beaten by Ladysmith in the final. Division
Three Quinty White (Jaiden Burkinshaw, Olivia Graham, Lucy Lewington, Caitlin Rodham, Ben McCully,
Ashleigh Finch & Nick Heffernan) won most of their matches and reached the final where they managed to
draw with Kapooka. Again our side won on a count back. Quinty Red were narrowly beaten by Quinty White
and just missed the final. Super work from both sides and Mrs Lewington. Huge thanks to Cameron Reid who
coached Division One and Kylie Lewington who coached both our Division Three teams. It was wonderful just
to walk around and just watch all our teams in my last touch carnival. Once again our sportsmanship was a
real winner.
BURRUMBUTTOCK EXCURSION
You should have received your permission note yesterday but sadly I noticed a few notes were left at school.
Please ensure you sign these and return them to school before Friday. Once again a huge thanks to Origin
who are paying the bus fare to Burrumbuttock. Without this generous donation you would be looking at a
$15.00 excursion not a $2.00 expense. Please remember we want to leave at 8.45am so all children should
be at school by 8.30am. We need the children to be in their sports uniform including the school hat. Students
need to bring their recess, lunch and a drink bottle.

OPERATION ART
Selected children were given permission notes for this program yesterday. Unfortunately we can only select
twelve students across our seven grades. Obviously students with the most artistic talent are chosen. It is
the same concept as sport, only the best are sent to try out for Wagga Wagga teams. Notes and money
need to be returned this week.
A SWEET TOOTH
I’ve noticed a number of our older students starting the day munching on lolly pops and other treats. I don’t think lollies, chocolates, etc. are ideal school snacks. Experience tells me that if children have yummy treats to eat at school they won’t wait until recess to eat them. I urge all parents to pack sensible lunches and snacks for school. Cake is acceptable but preferably not too often during the week. Overall it’s great to see so much healthy food in the students’ lunches. NAIL POLISH
Just a gentle reminder that girl’s should not be wearing nail polish to school. Please ensure your children follow this policy. MORE THANKS
Once again many thanks to Mr Mead and his son Jarrod for giving us so much of their time, two weeks to reorganise the computer room. We are very fortunate that all our staff continually put in so much extra time for our school. Regards
