Introduction This guide is intended to enable the instructors of the Petrel Fundamentals 2011 class to become quickly updated with the major changes in this course. Teaching days The Petrel Fundamentals course is intended as a 2 day course. The structure has been taken from the previous 5 day Introduction course, but will focus mainly on the fundamental functionality previously presented in the old Introduction course. Software requirements It is recommended that you optimize your hardware using Vista or Windows 7 64-bit and 16GB RAM. Main changes for Petrel Fundamentals 2011 This course stems from the old Introduction course. This class will focus on Data Import, Plotting and Visualization. The changes in the content include: Module 1: Ocean presentation has changed to explain more about plug-ins. Module 2: The focus is to set up a Petrel project from scratch that is usable with the Petrel Data Environment (CRS, Spatial Awareness and new Favorites pane). Module 4: This module is presenting visualization from an object angle -- what to display. Studio Annotate is presented. Module 6: This module is merging the use of previously created input data into creating a 3D grid. Module 8: Studio Find is presented. Course projects This version of the manual has 3 course projects. At the beginning of each exercise, it states which project should be used for that particular module. The user also has the opportunity to work continuously throughout the class with his own project using the complete.petR reference project to attain any missing data that may be necessary for that topic. About this Course The Petrel Fundamentals 2011 course content has been created/updated based on the feedback from Schlumberger staff and our clients.
