1 Introduction

1.1 Purpose of the Document

The purpose of this document is to record the requirements specification for the Custom Closet Web Application. This document will focus on the analysis of the requirements gathered from the client in order to define a list of core functionalities offered by the application.

1.2 Intended Audience

This document is a business level document intended for all project members, the project stakeholders and potential users of the system.

1.3 Definitions, Acronyms and Abbreviations

UCD: User Centred Design

Requirements Specification: A document that describes the high level functional requirements of the system to be developed.

RC: Registered Customer.

FD: Fashion Designer.

Admin: Custom Closet’s Administrator.

1.4 Persona Development Overview

The identification and application of these personas will be used by the group to improve efficiency and quality during the development cycle. The following personas have been created and developed through the information we received through surveys, interviews and focus groups.

First, we created a survey and posted it online through our Facebook pages. We interviewed a number of people who are engaged in the fashion industry and we held a focus group to gain information from our peers. Four personas were developed.

1.5 Character Roles

Guest User: The guest user is a casual internet user who browses forums and online shopping sites but rarely buys. They would browse through the site but would have no intention of buying or registering their details.

Registered Customer: The registered customer is a fashion conscious internet user who buys online from time to time. The registered customer chooses from design templates submitted by a designer or have the option to upload their own designs,sketches or ideas. They browse the site looking for designs that interest them. If they like the work of a particular designer they have the option to contact them.

Fashion Designer: The registered fashion designer uses the site in order to promote their business and their designs. They are eager to interact with prospective customers on a one-to-one basis. The designer uploads their designs from which customers can browse and ‘try on’ their avatar. Once a designer decides to create an outfit for a customer, they must abide by the rules set by the site administrator.

Web Admin: The administrator mediates between any disputes between a customer and a designer. They have the final say in regards refund procedures. They also moderate the forums and users who may use foul language or be abusive.

Julie is a keen user of the web and tends to mitch off work to scope out internet gems. She works in bank of Ireland as a cashier and has been there for about 5 years at this stage. She doesn’t take her job too seriously and lives for the weekend. She lives in Glasnevin, Dublin. She is a facebook addict and gets the inside scoop of useful websites and Apps by word of

mouth from her friends and co-workers.

Julie gets a huge satisfaction from ‘finding’ new websites that her group of friends would enjoy. By discovering these websites she becomes more attached to the brand, provokes a high level of interactivity with it and evokes a high level of intristic satisfaction if the website is a big hit with her friends. Before she tells her friends or colleages about a new website, the website must past the ‘Julie test’ , basically some level of quality standards in terms of aesthetics and functionality. Julie takes pride in her apperance and uses her weekends out in town to showcase her style and her unique personna through the medium of clothing. Julie loves her glossy magazines as they keep her in the loop fashion wise as she bases her fashion styles on certain celebs, such as Jennifer Aderson. She is quite price sensitive, however, she has been know to ‘splash that cash’ for a big occasions such as weddings or birthdays. Julie has a very outgoing personality and considers herself as an innovator when it comes to trying news goods or services, whether it be the new coffee shop around the corner or changing her hair style on the weekends for the ‘hell of it’.

Karen has a keen eye for fashion but works long hours as well as being a mother and therefore does not have a lot of free time. Because of her line of work she is aware of how she presents herself to clients, staff and investors. She strives towards a polished image but does not have lots of time to shop because of her busy schedule. She has the money to spend on high-end fashion but also likes to seek out the best deals and designs by new designers. She finds it easier to compare and contrast prices and fashions online. Ease of use is the primary reason why she would choose one website over another.

• Recent graduate from NCAD with a degree in fine art.

• Currently working as an intern in the National gallery.

• Considers herself to be creative, spontaneous, fashionable and unique.

• Mostly shops on the high street in outlets such as River Island and Monsoon but also likes to browse vintage clothing shops and charity shops.

• Buys clothes online from time to time but not on a regular basis.

• Spends between €150-€200 a month on fashion.

Laura is a very creative person and would be keen to work with new designers online in order to find fashions to suit her outgoing personality. Being part of the creative process and being able to design her own clothes interests her greatly. She feels strongly that fashion is about personal expression. She does not blindly follow the fashion of the time and wants to stand out from the crowd with a distinctive style. She likes to go to the pub or nightclub at the weekend and always wants to look her best. She is also interested in accessories such as hats, jewellery and would relish the opportunity to design her own jewellery too. She does not own a credit card, she only uses her debit card to purchase online.

Michael is knowledgeable and experienced with a variety of technologies and web platforms.

He works in a technical support role for a computer company. He works often works late hours, browsing the internet at night after work, or working on

his own project. He is married with two young children, while his wife stays at home. He uses the web for as many uses as he can, finding it the most convenient method of

communicating, learning and shopping.

Michael has a deep interest in computers and gadgets, and is familiar with several aspects of hardware, web design and programming. He is used to working late hours and losing track of time to see tasks to completion. He presents himself in a very professional manner, almost to the point of being humourless. He prides himself on keeping websites under his care running as smoothly as possible, addressing problems promptly, as well as taking the steps to ensure they do not occur in the first place. He places an emphasis on ensuring that any functionality is without flaws.

media in order to expand her busines.

Emma begins a typical day by waking at 7 and going to the gym before going to the studio where she eats breakfast and looks over her daily schedule. she will then move onto computer work where she updates her social media and launching competitions for her brand before meeting with her webmaster and discussing the development of her website. In the midmorning she meets with customers, contactors and specialists and then searches for new ideas through research, sketches and writing specifications. She will then spend the rest of the day completing designs for customers and co-ordinating her workforce. She also examines sample garments on and off models and then modifies designs to acheive the desired effect. In the evening she will work on identifying target markets for her designs by looking at factors such as age, gender, and socio-economic status. she will also attend fashion shows and read trade magazines.

The part of the job she enjoys most is drawing/creating new designs. Emma is a perfectionist and is only happy when a garment is perfect in her eyes. like many self-employed people she worries about the future of her business but she loves her job and is generally an optimistic person.
