Regents Algebra● We will follow the “Common Core” curriculum. However, it is different in HS

than in Elementary and MS. Parents are encouraged to get involved with the learning and you are welcome to show your methods to your children.

● The curriculum that I follow is on www.emathinstruction.com. Each lesson has a video and 2 page document. Page 1 is the class work, Page 2 is the homework.

● Each page has a QR code to access the lesson video, but I use these videos as a backup resource. I teach each lesson, but these videos are great for absences, further review, etc.

● Currently there is still a Regents exam scheduled in June.

Students earn their grade:

Homework: 30%Quizzes/WR: 25%Tests: 35%Tickets: 10%

** Weekly Reviews are handed out Mondays and are due Fridays. They can be handed in prior to Friday tobe reviewed, corrected and resubmitted for a higher score. Please encourage this!

Submission of Work1. Complete work on the homework page (pen/pencil)2. Put your name at the top of the front and back of the assignment. 3. Take a CLEAR picture of both sides of the assignment. 4. Save your work as a .PDF file (you can do this with your phone) 5. In Classroom go to the appropriate unit and lesson number and attach your

pdf to submit. 6. Or complete and submit on the Kami Doc.

Homework is graded with a 0, 50, 65, 85 or 100 depending upon mastery of content. A score below 100 can be corrected for full credit within 2 days. Late submissions will earn a 0 and cannot earn a higher score at any time.

TeamsDue to the class size, we utilize the overflow rooms.

There are 3 groups per class, Red, Black, and White. We cycle through the groups to try to give everyone equal classroom time. I post the colors outside of my room to help us keep track.

If your child’s team is assigned to the overflow room, he/she accesses class remotely. The google classroom code is always posted on google classroom in the banner.

The groups were shared with the students on a Google Sheet and it is available in the Google Classroom stream.

AvailabilityUsually I would have specific office hours, but due to the circumstances we will need to arrange time to work together. If your son/daughter has questions, please reach out to me and we can make arrangements.

I have an Algebra Math Lab every day 3rd period. Anyone who is available may join my lab any day. Students know to email me for the link to join remotely and many have taken advantage of this already.

CalculatorOur curriculum is developed with calculator use. Students need to learn the calculator.

All school issued chromebooks have the TI google extension installed on them.

The Google extension can be downloaded on home computers as well if needed.

If you prefer an actual calculator for your child, you may purchase one. I will not have calculators available for student use throughout the day. We use the TI-84 graphing calculator series, TI-84 +, TI-84 Color, TI-84, TI-84 CE.
