Ron Malz, Grand Worthy President of
The Fraternal Order of Eagles, is a
longtime member of the organization,
joining Fairbault, Minn., Aerie #1460
in 1982. In 1988, Brother Malz was
named Worthy President of the Aerie,
igniting a path that has led him to
Grand Aerie service.
He later held the Minnesota State
President position for the 1999-2000
fraternal year and was appointed
North Central Regional President for
the 2006-2007 fraternal year.
Brother Malz joined the Grand Aerie
four years later, being installed as
Grand Worthy Outside Guard at the 2010 International Convention in
Louisville, Ky., continuing as Grand Worthy Conductor, Grand Worthy
Chaplain, Grand Trustee, Grand Worthy Vice President and is currently
serving as Grand Worthy President-Elect for the 2018-19 fraternal year.
He was also Secretary/Treasurer and Bulletin Editor for the State Mem-
bership Department – a position he held for 12 years.
He would like to emphasize promoting ritual, ritual competition and
recognition of Eagle involvement in our communities during his time as
an officer.
In his spare time, he enjoys camping. Brother Malz and his wife
Maureen have five children, nine grandchildren, and two great grand-
daughters.
Getting know your officers Our History The F.O.E. was founded in Febru-
ary, 1898 by six theatre owners
gathered in a Seattle shipyard to
discuss a musician's strike. After
addressing the matter, they agreed
to "bury the hatchet" and form
"The Order of Good Things." As
numbers grew, members selected
the Bald Eagle as the official em-
blem and changed the name to
"The Fraternal Order of Eagles."
The women's auxiliary traces its
roots to 1927. The Fraternal Order
of Eagles includes nearly 800,000
members and more than 1,500 lo-
cations across the United States
and Canada. Stop by one of our
locations and see why we're
known as ...
People Helping People.
-
I am thankful to you, my brothers and sis-
ter's of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and
Besides my family, my health, and the
blessed life that I have lived and lived with
the F.O.E., I am thankful for many things
that I should consider and number daily as
blessings. I admit that I often fail there. I
take some very fundamental, big, and im-
portant things for granted and that I apolo-
gized for Here’s my thanksgiving list about
freedom, security, bounty, protection, and
my beloved Order, the "Fraternal Order of
Eagles".
First and foremost, I am thankful for my
wife Julie, and my kids as they make my life
meaningful. I am thankful for:
Freedom. I am thankful for my country, the
United States of America. We as citizens of
the United States of America live in a free
republic, one nation under God, with liberty
and justice for all. Our nation is not perfect,
for sure. But, many people want to come
here, stay, live and work, and enjoy those
promises. Freedom, it’s not free. I am thank-
ful for:
Security. I’m thankful for our military, and
for those men and women who have served
in the past and sacrificed to guard and pro-
tect our country, its citizens, and our liberty.
I’m also thankful for all members of our Air
Force, Army, Marines, Navy, and Coast
Guard who stand ready, willing, and able to
defend our sovereignty and protect us from
our enemies.
My father left his home to serve in the Army
Air Corp on a B-24 Bomber during WWII
and I and my brother served in our beloved
Corps. I am thankful for:
Physical blessings, such as food, water, and
shelter, also make my list of neglected
thanksgiving items. I’m thankful for the food
and water which nourish me and my family
every day of our life. I appreciate how Amer-
icans – me – have so many blessings. I have
so much more than I really need. I don’t
have a garden and do not raise animals. I’m
like so many others who do not grow and
harvest food. We benefit from the bounty
resulting from the hard work and dedication
of so many farmers, growers, ranchers, and
dairy operators. Just open your refrigerator
or go to your pantry, and take a long, hard
and thoughtful look. We must stop and think
more about them, and give thanks to the
people who raise or grow, harvest or pick,
package and transport our food.
I’m also thankful that I have clean water to
drink each day. Finally, and to keep my list
meaningful and manageable, I’m thankful
for the members of my community who pro-
tect me and will help me when I am in need.
I am thankful for the first responders. These
people stand ready to protect me from harm
or rescue me from peril. These special peo-
ple, police officers, firefighters, paramedics,
to name a few, deal with danger, high levels
of stress, unique risks, and uncertainty each
and every day they put on their uniform. I
thank them for their service.
And to you my Eagle family, I will think of
you as we pass bowls of mashed potatoes,
carved turkey, chestnut stuffing and then
pieces of pie before we lean back in our
chairs to linger over the conversation. And I
thank God for you.
Because having you here on my Facebook
page, reading my silly words or following my
life or meeting you across the nation in your
Aeries is one of God's beautiful gifts to me.
You know that, don’t you? My Eagle broth-
ers and sisters,
I think of you often, pray for you, listen to
what you share in the comments and hope-
fully impart on you some semblance of
knowledge of who we are and what we are
and more so, what we should be. I hope we
get to have a cocktail one day soon. Until
then, I’ll keep sending words in my place.
And you each individually:
You just keep doing what you’re doing, being
who you are as Eagles, changing the world in
our own wonderful way… making more rea-
sons for all of us (especially me) to be grate-
ful again next year (especially for you my Ea-
gle family).
Steve Silvestro is feeling grateful.

From The State Madam President
Dear Sisters and Brothers, October certainly
came and went so fast. We started out with an
E-Board in Cocoa where we shared a great
deal of information and a wonderful lunch-
eon. Thank you to the Ladies of Cocoa. We
then traveled to Titusville for an excellent An-
niversary Dinner, and the prettiest appetizers
table. Thank you to the Aerie and Auxiliary
for the room and the great dinner. Your dona-
tion to the charity is so appreciated. We even
enjoyed the entertainment. Next, we were off
to Auxiliary School in Pinellas Park, who put
out a great lunch for everyone. There was a ton of material covered
at the school. Please keep sending your members. Knowledge is
power. From there, we went to the Anniversary Gala in Spring Hill.
After the meal and the band came the most unusual and funny auc-
tion we have seen to date. A big Woo Hoo to the folks that went to
Cedar Key. They cancelled the parade so we had our own. We were
joined by the Clam Jammers and had a blast. Thanks for the hospi-
tality, despite the rain. I hope everyone had a festive Halloween.
Facebook showed everyone having a great time and raising funds.
Keep up the good work. Don't forget about the Calendar Drawing in
New Port Richey on December 7 and the register at the Plantation
for Mid-Winter. I am looking forward to the Wacky Golf Tourna-
ment. I want to wish you and your families a Happy and Healthy
Thanksgiving.
See you out there!
Respectfully submitted,
Beth Spaulding-Henschen
State Madam President
From The State Worthy President
Hello Brothers and Sisters It is hard to be-
lieve that the month of October is almost
gone, and the Holidays are quickly ap-
proaching. This month we have been to Ti-
tusville, Spring Hill, Cedar Key and attended
the State pool tournament in Dade City. It is
great to see all the teamwork and how much
can be accomplished when we all work to-
gether. A big thank you to all for your gener-
ous donations to our charity and the friend-
ship Brother/Sisterhood. The food and dec-
orations have been fantastic. A lot of you
know that SMP Beth and I are trying to lead
by example in promoting Aerie and Auxilia-
ry relations. Please remember we are all in
this together for a common goal. If we all
unify and work for that goal together, we
will have healthy, happy Aerie homes. As we
approach Thanksgiving, I pray that we will
all pause for a moment and give thanks for
all that we have and for being blessed to be a
member of the greatest Fraternity ever. I
wish you all a very happy, safe and blessed
Thanksgiving. I will see you on the Eagle
trail.
Fraternally yours,
Greg Hall

It's hard to believe December is here already. I would like to start by saying a huge Thank You
to all who donated and helped build the Thanksgiving boxes for those in need this year. We
had an excellent turn out and things seemed to move really smoothly. We look forward to see-
ing you all again for the Christmas boxes. It's time to start getting your names in for Christ-
mas and we will soon have the Angel tree up.
Another big THANK YOU goes out to all who helped with Meals on Wheels! It was
wonderful seeing all the volunteers from cooking, to assembly, and finally delivery. We
prepared and boxed up 100 meals and everything was out the door and on its way by
10:00 am. Wonderful job by all.
It's soon going to be New Years eve and we will be looking for some help with the
breakfast. I believe we have our head chef lined up but will be looking for kitchen help as
well as cleanup at the end. Please consider pitching in just a little to help.
Before we know it the end of the Eagle year will be upon us and it will be time to
nominate for next years officers. This past year was great, we had more nominees
than positions and had to have elections. I am really looking forward to next year
when I hope for even more. Please, if you even think you might be interested in
an officer position, get with me and let's talk. I have information on each and eve-
ry officer position and will be glad to give you a rundown on the duties and re-
sponsibilities. We truly need dedicated members to make this Aerie run.
Until next time, Keep Soaring!

Panhandle Aerie 4045 Members,
It is my pleasure to be able to serve as
your Aerie Secretary and I would like to
take this opportunity to Thank You for
being a Member and for your continued
support of our Aerie.
Most of my articles for our newsletter
consist of information that you as mem-
bers already know. So, again this month
I’m doing something a bit different.
I have been a member of Panhandle Aerie 4045 since 2002.
During the 17 years I have had the honor of serving our Aerie as
Trustee, Chaplain, Club Manager, Treasurer and currently your
Aerie Secretary. I began as an Aerie member, became an Auxil-
iary Member and then back to the Aerie. Over the years we have
gone from less than 100 members to over 300. We’ve gone
through good years and unfortunately a few not so good years.
Members have come and gone during this time and some al-
ways leave a lasting impression on our lives.
With Christmas and the New Year fast approaching it is my
hope that we continue to make strides within our Aerie and our
community. We have always been known as a Charity organiza-
tion, often we forget our true purpose within our Organization.
That’s the giving, the sharing and spreading of our motto
“People Helping People” to our local community and the world
at large.
Recently I had the opportunity to witness what our motto
stands for. While participating in a local event I saw what the
power of one selfless act of giving can do. During this event a
donation was made to a wonderful lady who puts her heart and
soul into our community. Each year she has an Angel Tree in
her establishment, some years there have been multiple names
or other years a single family in need is chosen. This year it hap-
pens to be a single mother with 3 children who lost everything
they had. With tears in her eyes she shared their story, it is truly
heartbreaking. When the time came for our ERG to make their
annual donation, a member handed our presenter a cash dona-
tion and said “add this to your presentation”. As our presenter
spoke of the work done by the recipient and what our organiza-
tion stands for “People Helping People”, and the donation made
by a fellow member. You could look around and see folks reach-
ing for their wallets, digging in their pockets, with tears in their
eyes, they weren’t all members of our Aerie, but you could see
the effect our motto was having on others. What an amazing
site it was! One gesture of caring spread through the crowd.
Just imagine what we as 300 plus members could accomplish if
we came together and worked as a whole.
We’ve always been blessed to have, like most organizations, that
core group that go above and beyond. We are truly grateful for
those who have come before us and set the example of what it
means to be an Eagle. Let me encourage you, not only during
the holidays, but through the year to share your motto each and
every day. If you are able to help others in any way, share your
Eagles motto of “People Helping People”. Don’t sit back, step
-
up, lend a helping hand, not only in your Aerie but also our community.
You never know what one gesture of kindness will start.
Like with last month’s article, let me again tell you how much I appreciate
you as a Member of Panhandle Aerie 4045. I appreciate your continued
support by keeping your membership current year after year. I appreciate
your stepping up and offering a helping hand. I appreciate all you do as a
Member of Panhandle Aerie 4045. You may say that you don’t have any-
thing to offer, but you do you continue to show your support by just being
a Member! Always know that you contribute to the work our Aerie is do-
ing and are greatly appreciated.
No one looks for a pat on the back or gratitude for a job well done. As
members of Panhandle Aerie 4045, let’s continue to supported and shared
our motto “People Helping People”.
Now for my PSA (Public Service Announcement) – December is another
very busy month around the Aerie, so make sure you stop by, call the Aer-
ie, contact another Member to see what you can do to help. Your contribu-
tions are greatly appreciated, even more so by someone you’ve never met.
Remember to say “How can I help?”
“If I cannot speak well of an Eagle, I will not speak ill of Him” and contin-
ue to share our motto “PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE”
Until next time, I hope to see you around the Aerie and thanks for being
my Brother and a member of my Eagles family.
Fraternally,

What an adventure! Toys 4
Tots is one of our favorite
events, we always look forward
to helping those in our commu-
nity. This year’s event did not
disappoint! Over 500 bikes
came out to support this wor-
thy cause! Your ERG Vice Pres-
ident Scott Carroll presented a
donation of $300.00 to Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy
Center & Aerie Past Worthy President Scott Burger presented
a donation of $500.00 to Children in Crisis! WAY TO GO
PANHANDLE AERIE & EAGLE RIDERS GROUP! The giving
didn’t stop there, ERG members proceeded over to The Edge
for a visit with Ms. Paula Kelly & her Angel Tree where Past
Worthy President Chuck Seagle presented her with a donation
of $150.00, along with a cash donation of $100.00 from ERG
member. With that being done the blessings began to rain
down with other ERG members pitching in to help, even had
some other folks there visiting help out her Angel Tree. You
could feel the love being shared all around.
We’ll see you in January, when we pick up our monthly din-
ners again. We’re looking at having Soups & Stews, sounds
good on a chilly night!
We are always looking for New Members! If you are a Member
in good standing with our Aerie, you qualify to join the Eagle
Riders! You do not have to own a motorcycle to be a Member
either!
Our meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of each at 6:30 p.m.
Thank you for all your support, as we share our motto:
“PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE”
To our local community and the world at large.
