This year PHRC ran, as usual, three official competi-tions. The first of these was our official show in march which was very well attended and made quite a good profit. Our show doesn’t make as much as other types of event, but it also doesn’t take any-where near as much organisation in the lead up or as much work on the day. We think the profit:effort ratio makes it worthwhile. In June we ran our showjumping day which had even higher entries than we’ve had in previous years and again made a very good profit. A couple of weeks ago was our third event, a dressage jackpot. The past couple of years we have run combined training, so this year we decided we’d have a change and run dressage instead. We had 135 en-tries which meant tests began at 8.30 and were scheduled to finish around 4.30 although late run-ning classes meant it was more like 5.30! There was lots of positive feedback from competitors, about the fantastic all weather surfaces all classes were run on, and about how efficiently PHRC events run. We have a great reputation for running well or-ganised events and it’s wonderful to hear these com-ments after all the hard work that goes into holding these competitions. We made a massive profit from the dressage day and that makes it all the more worth it! Thanks yet again to all the members for giving up some of their precious time to help either on the day or in the weeks and months before comps. I know how much work it involves and it really is appreciated. We also ran one unofficial event, a short course horse trials in april which was a fantastic chance for our members who have a go at cross country. This was a low key, relaxed day where members helped and encouraged each other. Some used it as prepa-ration for upcoming official horse trials events, and some used it to test out their cross country skills- many for the first time ever. We hope to run some-thing similar in the coming year- either a short course, or perhaps a team event (discussions are underway at committee meetings). This year committee would like to run three official events again. A show, showjumping and combined training. The first will be our show, and this year we also plan to have a freshmans showjumping ring on the day as this shouldn’t involve too much work and will provide an alternative activity for riders who aren’t into showing and those who’d like to have a go at a showjumping round without too much pres-sure. We had planned to alternate running the Com-bined Training and the Dressage Jackpot each year, so this year would be Combined Training. (Riders
can also compete in straight dressage at this event). Any feedback on this is of course welcomed. After discussions regarding our current polo tops, committee thought it was time for an update and we have sourced some new style tops. We hope to have this finalised soon and available for members to purchase. We have also stocked up our uniform cupboard in the clubrooms with the three in one vest/rain jackets as we took advantage of the re-duced price these were selling for recently. LERR committee has been productive this year and together with LPC we achieved quite a bit. Several joint working bees have resulted in the tidying up of cross country tracks, placement of some new log jumps and LPC have done a lot of work clearing up around the car park. We have jointly purchased two patio heaters for use at events, meetings and rallies when the weather is cold, and we have extended the concrete area in front of the clubrooms. After decid-ing we needed to replace some of the old showjump-ing equipment we have now finalised quotes etc and are ordering new lighter weight wings to replace the old, very heavy white ones. We will also replace the old poles with new round ones, and we will be or-ganising working bees in the new year to paint these. In December we held a seminar with Tanja Mitton, an equestrian mindset coach. This was something a bit different and was well attended by both our mem-bers and members of other local clubs. Tanja ran lessons and also came back early this year for an-other clinic. We hope to run a few clinics in the com-ing year, and possibly one in December as a than-kyou for members who have helped out at events and working bees. Instructors we are looking into are Amanda Ross, Will Enzinger, and David Middle-ton.
I would like to thank everyone on committee for all
the work they have put in during the year. Thanks to
Sheree and Bec for their work on the short course
horse trials; Tracey for her usual booking of officials
for showjumping and instructors for rallies; Sue for
organising entries and judges for the dressage day;
Pam for TTT coordination; Mike for compiling the
newsletter; Sam for doing the sometimes quite diffi-
cult job of helper coordination; and as per usual,
Debbie for massive amounts of work in many areas!
And last but by far not least...thankyou to all the
members who make this a great club to be part of!
Nicole

For Sunday rally lesson bookings, call Debbie on 5978 8678. Lessons are sometimes full a week prior so book early.
Riders who book in for Showjumping are required to help set up at 9am and also pack up at 12.30pm.
Our rallies are open to members from outside HRCAV clubs. PHRC mem-bers take priority until Thursday prior to the rally. If you haven’t booked in prior you may be disappointed.
Rally duty helpers can ride for free on the day of their duty, but must ride outside their duty time. Front desk must be manned at all times.
Rally duty helpers can swap their times or days with other members if un-able to do duty at the time allocated. If you swap, please contact Debbie to confirm this.
If members have ideas for rallies, or an instructor you’d like to have, please let the duty officer know or come along to a committee meeting.
Riders who ring and cancel from rally after the Wednesday prior without a good reason may be billed for the lesson. The instructors are confirmed at this point, so the club has to pay even if there is only one rider! If you can-cel early enough we may be able to fill your spot with someone else and you wont be required to pay.

This year instead of the Christmas Gymkhana, PHRC will be run a special clinic with Will Enzinger. A second instructor will also run normal rally lessons on the day.
Lesson places with Will will be limited, and priority will be given to members who have completed their 10 or more hours of help throughout the year.
Please register your interest with Debbie on 59788678. Let her know what level you are assessed at, and whether you would like a flat or jumping lesson. Once we know how many riders we have, times will be organized and riders notified.

HELPER VOUCHERS
All members who help at club events receive a voucher to the value of $15.00 for every 3 hrs of time they put in. We need helpers at set-up for comps, packing up at the end, helping on the day of events, and working bees. A record is kept of the time each member puts in and vouchers are sent to members. These vouchers can then be used for rally payment, PHRC clinics and events, or put toward your yearly club membership fees. REMEMBER: IT PAYS TO HELP AND YOUR HELP IS WHAT RUNS THE CLUB
AND IT’S EVENTS!

Keys to the grounds may be purchased for a fee of $20 per year, or $10 if you return previous years key. These are security keys that are numbered and cannot be re-cut. This is necessary as a result of ongoing vandalism problems. If you purchase a key you may not use the grounds on a day that LPC are holding a rally or an event. These dates are published in our event calendar. Reminder when closing up make sure you lock all of the padlocks you have
opened when you leave. If riding on the cross-country ALWAYS check the tracks, jump take off and land-
ing first. Unfortunately vandalism is prominent at the club grounds. The front gate MUST BE KEPT CLOSED at all times when members are using the grounds.
Manure must be picked up. KEY CHANGE OVER IS FROM NOVEMBER 9TH. YOUR CURRENT KEY WILL NOT WORK AFTER THIS DATE. CONTACT REBECCA JUPP ON 0417527856
