Pediatric Emergency Medicine Skills Course for Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Nurses Friday, June 7, 2013 Wilmington, Delaware Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children This is an intensive one day course designed for Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Nurses who would like more experience in managing pediatric emergency scenarios. We will provide hands on training in critical pediatric assessment and procedure skills. This will include pediatric specific airway management techniques, vascular access, and resuscitation procedures. Using high fidelity simulation, this course will also focus on the crisis resource management skills needed to successfully manage a critically ill pediatric patient. Learning Objectives Identify indicators of illness and injury in the pediatric patient Discuss priorities of care for the pediatric patient Discuss pediatric specific physiologic and developmental milestones Discuss the initial and ongoing assessment of a pediatric patient including system specific interventions List unique features of the pediatric airway Describe adjuncts that may be used when securing a pediatric airway Describe techniques to obtain vascular access in a pediatric patient List the appropriate medications used in pediatric resuscitation Discuss the newest recommendations for advanced life support in pediatric patients Manage complex children in the Emergency Department Identify challenging diagnoses and difficult decisions in pediatric emergency medicine Develop an approach to common and unusual pediatric illnesses encountered in the ED General Information Site: The program will be held in the third floor Lecture Hall of the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, located at 1600 Rockland Road in Wilmington, DE. This is an intensive one day course designed for Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Nurses who

Course Registration

Registration: This course is for Physician

Assistants and Advanced Practice Nurses only.

Because of the in-depth, hands-on nature of the

program, registration will be limited. Early

registration is advised. Advance registration is

required and should be received by May 17, 2013.

Registrations received by this date will be confirmed

in writing.

Fees: The conference early bird registration fee is

$200. After April 28, 2013, the registration fee is

$240. This fee includes all course materials,

refreshments, and meals as noted on the schedule.

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given for

written cancellations received before May 17, 2013.

No refunds will be given after that date. The hospital

is not responsible for any cancellations or change

fees assessed by airlines, travel agencies, or hotels.

Hospital for Children will provide modifications in
