Greetings from Rotaract Club of Bhubaneswar Friends!!!

I am very happy to pen down this message for the Joint International Bulletin PEACE TRANQUILITY which is going to be published on the occasion of World Peace Day-September 21.

TheThe International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session, which was held annually on the third Tuesday of September. The first Peace Day was observed in September 1982.

In 2001, the General Assembly by unanimous vote adopted resolution 55/282 which established 21 September as an annual day of non-violence and cease-fire.

The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” which aims to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace.

II would like to Thank you all the Rotaract Clubs for Participating In the Joint Bulletin of Rotaract Club of Bhubaneswar Friends. Also I thank Our ISD Arabinda Mohapatra & Editor, Rtr.Prajakta Devroy for their effort and hard work towards publishing a successful Joint Bulletin.

Dear Rtr. Anupam,

Dear Fellow Friends in Service,no path to peace, peace is the absolute path, each and every one has to find their own peace from within””; those were the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi. There is no other better way of emphasizing the importance and significance of harmony amongst individuals and nations.

AnAn International Day of peace is marked all over the world which is devoted towards strengthening the ideals of peace and tranquility both within and among all the nations and peoples. With the recent trends and global changing lifestyles, it’s becoming more paramount and creating more need and urge to spread the message of peace all over our reach. I must admit that it’s never easy nor is it a smooth sailing but the whole idea of serenity is of paramount importance and we as the young people cannot afford to neglect the responsibility but rather we must stand to be counted among those advocating for global unity.

RotaryRotary and the Rotaract fraternity at large has been in the front line to spread the message and advocate for equal rights amongst all beings. This has further been embodied in the Rotary and Rotaract objects. The Rotaract constitution has also laid out the responsibility of advancing international understanding, goodwill and peace amongst the Rotaractors and in thus we have to be on the front line as we advocate for international peace and understanding. In my theme for this Rotary year, I felt the need to emphasize that to another level; Unity in Purpose; where we deliberately practice this uncommon habit and reap the benefits of synergy. All this cannot be achieved without proper collaboration in our small communities, homesteads, villages and neighborhoods.without proper collaboration in our small communities, homesteads, villages and neighborhoods.

As we mark the International Day of peace this year, probably it should be a chance for each and every one of us to reflect of our individual contributions to this subject matter and possibly how much more we can input to make the world a better place. It always said that one only realizes the importance and value of a treasure once you let it go. I consider each and every one of us either directly or indirectly affected by the absence of peace either in our neighboring war torn Mogadishu or as far as the Middle East. This has slowly hampered the normal running of affairs with little or no attention being accorded to the matter.

TheThe RI President, Rtn. K.R Ravingran lauded the need to have the Rotary family impact the world in equal measure as its numbers. It’s in the same line that I wish to challenge all Rotaractorsfrom the district and beyond, being part of Rotary family to take up their position in the society and cause the influence they’d wish to see. For us to cause change, the change has to start within and this is by establishing the goodwill, compassion and spreading the gospel of peace as we ought to. Let us be aware that we have a duty to protect and defend the peace that we truly treasure.

Wishing you the very best.God Bless.God Bless.Warm Regards.

Peace and security are the essential pillars in the development of a nation. Progress depends purely on our efforts to put down arms and forge alternate methods of productivity to grow our countries. Destruction and chaos have pegged corners of our counties in different ways, just like a pregnant lady feels labor pains; that is how we suffer as nations being victims of war. Efforts to increase our pro peace campaigns should rise, continuous support and engagement with neighboring countries to combat war should be formed and strengthened. Among the factors that bring about war and terrorism is unemployment. Our youth suffer because of lack of employmentemployment and hence engage in crime and currently, recruitment of our youth in the terrorism platform has been on the rise. It is a high time as members of the community, we come together and help form platforms where we engage our youth in establishing jobs, conduct workshops, offer training platform for soft and business skills to help the youth grow their businesses especially in the informal sector. This is to raise the welfare of themselves, to support their families, become champions in building their societies and eventually building the nation.

On this day when we celebrate peace, I would urge each one of us to spread a word of peace to the neighbor; as we remind ourselves that we all need to contribute productively in our progress to build a better future for our children. The world needs to be a better place with our contribution and dedication to spread peace and unity in our countries.Have a peaceful year ahead of you.

Inner peace is the key in our lives, if we have inner peace, the external problems do not affect our deep sense of peace and tranquility. Without this inner peace no matter how comfortable our life is materially, we may still be worried, disturbed or unhappy because of circumstances, as we commemorate this year’s international peace day i urge rotaractors, rotarians, friends of rotary and other people world over to critically examine this aspect and apply it in our daily activities in quest to make the world a better place.

Enjoy the poem below;

Absence of waAbsence of war, Freedom from disturbance, A state of harmony That's what they call PEACE

I have known misery, I have known despair, I have known war, war raging from within and without

I have craved for said peaceAnd now I know itIts exuberance calls to meAnd I run, embrace it with both armsAnd I run, embrace it with both arms

So still, so calmNo strife, just a little discord

'Some say peace is but a state, wherein the active soul is free to move'But just like a poem, peace cannot be imagined before it is made

Hence I made it with myselfI made it with fellow humans

So in this peace I shall laySo in this peace I shall layIn its glow I shall bask Swimming in its brilliance that illuminates from a distance.

Maintaining peaceful and safe relations is a challenge; being peaceful and safe is a challenge. Making peace prevail on Earth by peaceful means is yet another challenge. Welcome to the challenge; life without challenges is not worth living.

II recently graduated from Addis Ababa University in the field of Peace and Security Studies. As part of the challenge, I went through theoretical and practical filtration processes of Peace and Security Studies and proved that I’m capable of engaging actively and proactively in issues of peace and security. Yet, I asked myself “Am I ready for Dante’s Divine Comedy: inferno, purgatorio and paradiso?” In inferno you face the burning questions of how to deal with intrapersonal issues. Deep inside, you have already declared a civil war on yourself: ‘have my questions, which were troubling me the time I joined the discipline, been answered? Have I achieved what I have been dreaming of? AmAm I more peaceful than I was? Am I at peace with myself, with my conscience, and with others, since peace is relational?’

The tantalizing quest continues. When you engage in some type of peace building activities and contribute your part, you may think you have reached purgatorio. But, do not be misled: this is a preparatory phase. Some of the questions you raised might be re-raised here, but full answers are not revealed yet; it is at this phase that you confess, repent and recommit yourself to further investigate and learn what peace means to you: ‘Is it achievable? Is it a state of mind? Is it a state of feelings? Or is it empirical? Is it quantifiable? How is it possible to achieve peace with justice? Peace with development?’

TheseThese last questions will compel you to imagine paradiso of the Divine Comedy. Now you’re back to self-reflection: ‘what skills have I acquired to tackle these questions? What if these questions were raised at a family, community, society, national, regional, international or global level? Armed with a Masters in Peace and Security Studies, am I able to confidently and competently deal with these questions?’ It dawns on you that you have learned at least how to learn to address them since they should be seen in their contexts and in the space and time they were embedded. That being said, I wish to say have a year of peaceful and tranquil co existence! That being said, I wish to say have a year of peaceful and tranquil co existence!

Rotaract Club of Finot is Community based Rotaract Club established in December 2012. It is a service, leadership and community service organization for young men and women between the ages 18–30. Club members are from different professional backgrounds and our purpose is to serve our community while developing our leadership & professional skills. RC Finot follows Rotary International’s rules and guidelines without exception and our motto is “Self Development-Fellowship through Service”. We meet once in every two weeks on Sunday and our meeting place is at Ethiopian Red Cross Association at Stadium 9:00 Local Time.

WWe’re currently engaged in two local projects focusing on communities that need our helping hand. The first project is related to students who need assistance in fulfilling their stationary material needs so they can be able to attend schools without any problem. We plan on providing 150 students from two different schools through the provision of stationery materials, school bags and uniforms. This way, they can make use of the money they were going to employ for the school materials for their crucial needs.

TheThe other project we will be engaged in is a pediatric medical health campaign that will be held twice this year. This project, as per our yearly plan, will be a continuous one and will have follow up projects too.

The best definition of peace according to me is when people are able to resolve their conflicts without violence and can work together for a better life.

We, as Rotaractors have the power to be ambassadors of peace in our family, among our friends, colleagues, in the community and the world at large. Through our actions, our words and our behavior, we have the moral duty to promote peace or at least not encourage war or discriminatory actions.

InIn fact, I like to believe that each one of our projects, to some extent, aim at promoting peace, May it be by alleviating poverty or supporting education to the deprived. This year RI’s theme “Be a gift to the world” can be achieved through the promotion of peace and the genuine efforts to work together for a better life for the world at large.

ThisThis year, the Rotaract clubs of Mauritius (District 9220) will celebrate World Peace day in a national project. Our aim is to show our engagement and willingness to promote peace in our country, a multi-racial country. Peace is rather fragile and any small awareness campaign or action to encourage the harmony is a must.

Let us all Be a gift to the world and let peace guide us throughout this journey.

Dear Friends,

On 21st September, we shall be celebrating World Peace Day. How do we work towards Peace? We are living as individuals on this Earth. Therefore, it can be irritating to see others of different nature, incompatible to us.

What if we shift our way of perceiving the world?

II am a body consisting of parts such as nose, ears, hands, legs, and each one is different in shape, color and function. Yet, I am one. The eyes see a rose, the feet walk towards it, the hands pluck it, the nose smells it and I enjoy the rose.

Everybody has a role to play in this world. We have to learn to appreciate differences. One day, your finger by mistake gets into your eye. What is your reaction? Cut off your finger? No, you forgive your finger. But, one day, your neighbour's finger gets into your eye. What is your reaction? Cut off his/her finger!!!

ItIt is a lifelong process to improve ourselves to move from 'I am one' to 'the World is one'. And for this, let us grow in your heart love and forgiveness.

May Peace prevail

“Only the development of compassion and understanding for others can bring us the tranquility and happiness we all seek.”

By these words, the Dalai Lama highlights the main strength of the Rotary/Rotaract partnership. Providing service and positive vibrations to others through friendship and fellowship is the best we can find peace in ourselves. The more peace we have within our own lives, the more we can do for other people.

II sincerely believe that by dedicating what we have most precious, time, we can through ordinary actions and projects, contribute to bring peace to issues such as the war between Palestine and Israel, the genocide in Nigeria and the bitterness between India and Pakistan. What defines us Rotarians and Rotaractors is this positive vibration of unregulated joy, peace and tranquility that will be able to make a positive change in this world. Let us be a gift to the world.

The Rotaract Club of Mahebourg (Mauritius, D9220) sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mahebourg marked its first anniversary on 18th August 2015. Let me tell you a story, our story. One year and seven months ago, around fifteen youngsters met for the first time at Patrick Restaurant. For around six months we kept meeting, bonding, sharing ideas, believing and respecting each other's ideas. We bonded, we were strong and we kept going. This is a story of courage and dedication but also of love and friendship. One year ago we took a pledge, that to serve at best our community but also to be there for each other, for the good and the bad. During our one year mandate , we not only the sixsix areas of focus of the Rotary International(RI) but we have also participated in various projects with close collaborations with different Non-Governmental Organizations(NGOs) for better tomorrows and national unity. It is a matter of honor for the club’s members that we have been recognized several times during our mandate namely by the DRR committee ‘for special performance during the Rotary year 2014-2015’, ‘for support to the DRR committee during the year 2014-2015’and our cherished ‘Presidential Citation 2015’. However, we do not pride ourselves for those awards, as they are only a recognition of the hard work and dedicated time of all members, friendsfriends and support of family. We pride ourselves in the changes for the betterment of those in distress, we are delighted of the significant help that our club and other Interact/Rotaract/Rotary clubs have been providing to others. We hope that there will come a day where NGOs will no more be needed in the sense that the world will be truly a better and safer place for everyone. We not only dare to dream, but we dare to dream bigger and to achieve higher. Our message for peace will be to be more tolerant towards one another, to promote peace but also to be in peace with oneself. We commend your club’s initiative for Peace Tranquility and we wish you all the best in your endeavors.

Dear Rotaractors,Greetings from Rotary District 9150.

I begin by saying THANK to friends of the Rotaract Club of Bhubaneswar Friends Rotaract District 3262 for the honor granted me by letting me express myself through this E-MAG, a great opportunity for the voice of District 9150 to be heard in the noble aim of contributing to peace efforts in the world.

ManyMany people tend to prefer those who belong to the same race and nationality and share the same political or religious ideas. However, this practice raises a separation that leads us gradually away from the culture of peace in our states, cities, and in our families and creates devastating effects that can have violence and conflict of any kind, which exists only when there's no peace created and continues to create despair, insecurity, emotional and social problems; depression, disillusionment and discouragement, economic collapse, political instability, deteriorating social and ethnic fabric, epidemics, etc.

TTo halt the conflicts and help communities to transition to sustainable peace is one of Rotary's goals that Rotaractors participate in eagerly. With the spirit of friendship, mutual assistance and tolerance shown by Rotaract and Interact, we create a more united world by bringing together young people who- despite differences share the ideal of "Fellowship through service" and promote peace and conflict resolution which is one of Rotary's six areas of focus.

MichaelMichael Jackson sung<< Make a little place, a better place to live, heal the world >>. Actions in favor of the poor we lead. Harmoniously celebrate the lyrics of this song. While the lyrics of this beautiful song still ring in our ears, I invite all of us this year to build a world of peace and friendship in order to truly be a gift to the world.

Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal and if there is any war worth waging it should peace.

Violence and bloodshed is not the answer to all the problems we have in this world but peace is all we need and it cannot be kept by force but it can only be achieved by understanding and forgiving each other because courageous people do not fear forgiving for the sake of peace.

The more we sweat in peace the less we bleed in wars and we should all dream of the world that is in peace with itself because peace is beautiful.

Since time immemorial conflicts and wars have determined the life of humankind. Even after millennia of violence and brutality human beings still continue combating. Current developments especially in the Middle East (Syria, Afghanistan or Pakistan) forced people to leave their homes, families and friends in order to find peace and security. Besides hundreds of broken hearts fearing the future, intense pressure is put on European economies.

OnlyOnly two decades ago Rwanda was facing the impacts of inhumanity, brutality and violence itself. Since the devastating genocide in 1994, Rwanda has built up a society of respect, tolerance and brotherly love aspirating to never face any comparable situation. The Rotaract Club of KIE appreciates the developments recognizable in Rwanda and supports its country by living these values in every activity conducted. Therefore, the Rotaract Club of KIE honors the annual day of peace devoted to strengthen the ideals of peace and encourages its members to set an example and foster peace not only during September 21st but also during any other day.

The Club was established at the heart of Rwanda’s Education pillar, the Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) in 2000 and was chattered on the 15th April 2002. The Club has had 12 presidents since then and, its members recently couldn’t be more excited about the installation of the 13th President. The club is Institute based hence the name, Rotaract Club of KIE. However, it’s comprised of non-students as well.

TheThe club has since its establishment been dedicated to ‘Service Above Self’ in all pillars of Rotary while giving back to the community through lending a hand to those in need. Not only that, you also find nothing short of fun at the Rotaract club of KIE. The club currently has 22 active membersIts alumni numbers have mounted (you can imagine since 2002) but its membership grows bigger every Rotary year. No wonder it’s the oldest Rotaract Club in Rwanda.

Rotary brings together people like us — leaders from all cultures and occupations who want to use their distinct expertise for good. People whose sense of responsibility inspires them to give back to their communities. Who step forward to tackle the toughest challenges — and persevere to create lasting change in communities around the world. Rotaractors work together to empower youth, improve health, promote peace, and advance our communities in all corners of the world.

PeacePeace is not merely a gift to be received: it is also a task to be undertaken. In order to be true peacemakers, we must educate ourselves in compassion, solidarity, working together, fraternity, in being active within the community and concerned to raise awareness about national and international issues and the importance of seeking adequate mechanisms for the redistribution of wealth, the promotion of growth, cooperation for development and conflict resolution.

DearDear rotaractros, we are a precious gift for society. Let's be confident in your youth and its profound desires for happiness, truth, beauty and genuine love!

Every year is celebrated the International Day of Peace, September 21 each, because I find it important to celebrate and everyone comes together to shout that date do not want more violence, but peace.

When we think of peace we automatically comes to mind it is the absence of war, but that word does not only mean that we must also understand that peace is equality, equity, social justice we need so many countries, being and inner tranquility.

AsAs members of Rotary International, and members of Rotaract clubs must promote peace not only every September 21, but 360 days a year, as our institution promotes peace through service.

As Rotaractor and member of the Rotaract club Santo Domingo West, show that peace is a value that we must raise awareness, unite to express all want peace
