Types of batteries

1. You are provided with the following types of batteries. Dry cell Alkaline cell Mercury cell Lead-acid accumulator Nickel – cadmium cell

Determine the positive and negative terminals of each cell stated above and state their uses.

2. There are other chemical cells like Nickel-metal hydride(NiMH), Lithium-ion(Li-ion), Lithium-polymer(Li-Poly),Fuel cells and solar cells. State the use of each cell.

At the end of these activities, answer the following questions:

What have you learnt from these two activities? Which part of the primary science curriculum teaches this particular topic? Discuss how you can use these activities in your teaching and learning. What was the role of the teacher in these two activities?
