Music before the Service Chorale-Prelude BWV 654: "Deck thyself, my soul, with gladness" - J. S. Bach
The Gathering
Stand as the bell rings for the Introit Hymn
For all the saints, who from their labours rest,
Who thee by faith before the world confessed, Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thou wast their rock, their fortress and their might; Thou, Lord, their captain in the well fought fight;
Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light. Alleluia, Alleluia!
O blest communion, fellowship divine! We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
Yet all are one in thee, for all are thine. Alleluia, Alleluia!
The golden evening brightens in the west; Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest;
Sweet is the calm of paradise the blessed. Alleluia, Alleluia!
But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day; The saints triumphant rise in bright array;
The King of glory passes on his way. Alleluia, Alleluia!
From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast,
Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, Singing to Father, Son and Holy Ghost:
Alleluia, Alleluia! William Walsham How (1823-97) Tune: Sine nomine

Introduction
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit All Amen
Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ
be with you All And also with you
The president welcomes all, and invites everyone to seek the mercy and grace of God.
Lord, you are gracious and compassionate: Lord, have mercy
All Lord, have mercy
You are loving to all and your mercy is over all your creation: Christ, have mercy All Christ, have mercy
Your faithful servants bless your name and speak of the glory of your kingdom:
Lord, have mercy All Lord, have mercy
The president pronounces absolution, then all sing the Gloria
All Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen
4
Remain standing for The Collect
Let us pray that we may be strengthened by our communion with all the saints:
Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and
fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: grant us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living that we may come
to those inexpressible joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
Please sit
The Liturgy of the Word
First Reading: Revelation 7.9-end
After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their
hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ And all the angels stood
around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshipped God, singing, ‘Amen!
Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and might be to our God for ever and ever! Amen.’
Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, ‘Who are these, robed in white,
and where have they come from?’ I said to him, ‘Sir, you are the one that knows.’ Then he said to me, ‘These are they who have come out of the great
ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. For this reason they are before the throne of God, and worship him day
and night within his temple, and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them. They will hunger no more, and thirst no more; the sun will not
strike them, nor any scorching heat; for the Lamb at the centre of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’
This is the word of the Lord
All Thanks be to God

Remain seated for the Psalm: 34.1-10
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall ever be in my mouth. My soul shall glory in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad. R/
O magnify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears. R/
Look upon him and be radiant
and your faces shall not be ashamed. This poor soul cried, and the Lord heard me
and saved me from all my troubles. R/
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him
and delivers them. O taste and see that the Lord is gracious;
blessed is the one who trusts in him. R/
Fear the Lord, all you his holy ones, for those who fear him lack nothing.
Lions may lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord lack nothing that is good. R/
Second Reading: 1 John 3.1-3
See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that
it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will
be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
This is the word of the Lord
All Thanks be to God

All stand and turn to face the reader for The Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
All Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Gospel Reading: Matthew 5.1-12
The Lord be with you All And also with you
Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew All Glory to you O Lord
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down,
his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds
of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were
before you."
This is the Gospel of the Lord All Praise to you O Christ.
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia

Please sit for The Sermon
The Rev'd Bertrand Olivier
All stand for The Nicene Creed
All We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen

Sit or kneel for the Prayers of Intercession
‘Litany of the Saints’ by Bernadette Farrell.
Please join in the refrain:
The Liturgy of the Sacrament
The Peace
We are fellow-citizens with the saints and of the household of God, through Christ our Lord, who came and preached peace to those who
were far off and those who were near.
The peace of the Lord be always with you. All And also with you
The congregation are invited to greet one another.
The Offertory Whilst the hymn is sung a collection will be taken towards the life and witness of this
church. If you are a UK Tax Payer, please consider making your donation through the Gift Aid scheme using the envelopes which are available in the pews. Thank you.
Elements of bread, wine and water are taken up to the altar.
How sweet the name of Jesus sounds In a believer's ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds, And drives away his fear.
9
It makes the wounded spirit whole
And calms the troubled breast; 'Tis manna to the hungry soul
And to the weary, rest.
Dear name! The rock on which I build, My shield and hiding-place;
My never-failing treasury filled With boundless stores of grace.
Jesus, my Shepherd, Brother, Friend, My Prophet, Priest, and King,
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End, Accept the praise I bring.
Weak is the effort of my heart
And cold my warmest thought; But when I see thee as thou art,
I'll praise thee as I ought.
Till then I would thy love proclaim With every fleeting breath;
And may the music of thy name Refresh my soul in death.
John Newton (1725-1807) Tune: St Peter
As the grain once scattered in the fields and the grapes once dispersed on the hillside are now reunited on this table in bread and wine, so, Lord, may your
whole Church soon be gathered together from the corners of the earth into your kingdom. Amen
The Eucharistic Prayer The Lord be with you
All And also with you
Lift up your hearts
All We lift them to the Lord
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God All It is right to give thanks and praise
10
It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give you
thanks, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
And now we give you thanks, most gracious God, surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses and glorified in the assembly of your saints. The glorious company
of apostles praise you. The noble fellowship of prophets praise you. The white-robed army of martyrs praise you. We, your holy Church, acclaim you.
In communion with angels and archangels, and with all who served you on earth and worship you now in heaven, we raise our voice to proclaim your glory, for
ever praising you and singing:
All Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Lord, you are holy indeed, the source of all holiness; grant that by the power of
your Holy Spirit, and according to your holy will, these gifts of bread and wine may be to us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ;
who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and gave you thanks;
he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.
In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks; he gave it to them, saying: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant,
which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.
Great is the mystery of faith:
All Christ has died, Christ is risen,
Christ will come again.
And so, Father, calling to mind his death on the cross, his perfect sacrifice made once for the sins of the whole world; rejoicing in his mighty resurrection and
glorious ascension, and looking for his coming in glory, we celebrate this memorial of our redemption.
As we offer you this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, we bring before
you this bread and this cup and we thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you.
11
Send the Holy Spirit on your people and gather into one in your kingdom all
who share this one bread and one cup, so that we, in the company of all the saints, may praise and glorify you for ever, through Jesus Christ our Lord;
by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever. Amen.
Remain standing for The Lord’s Prayer
All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen
The Breaking of the Bread
We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. All Though we are many, we are one body,
because we all share in one bread
Agnus Dei All Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world,
grant us peace
The president invites the congregation to receive communion
I heard the voice of a great multitude crying, ‘Alleluia. The Lord our God has entered into his kingdom.’
All Blessed are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb.
If you are used to receiving communion at your own church you are welcome here. If for any reason you do not wish to take communion you may come forward for a blessing, taking this booklet with you.
12
During the administration of Communion, Jonathan Gregson will sing 'O Thou, who's all
redeeming might' (a plainsong melody for All Saints), then all sing the Communion Hymn.
Be still for the presence of the Lord, the holy one, is here; Come bow before him now with reverence and fear.
In him no sin is found; we stand on holy ground; Be still for the presence of the Lord, the holy one is here.
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around;
He burns with holy fire, with splendour he is crowned. How awesome is the sight, our radiant King of Light!
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.
Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place;
He comes to cleanse and heal to minister his grace. No work too hard for him, in faith receive from him;
Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.
Words & Music: David J. Evans (b. 1957)
Please remain seated or kneel for the Postcommunion Prayer
God, the source of all holiness and giver of all good things: may we who have shared at this table as strangers and pilgrims here on earth be welcomed with
all your saints to the heavenly feast on the day of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
All Almighty God, we thank you for feeding us with the body and blood of your son Jesus Christ. Through him we offer you our souls and
bodies to be a living sacrifice. Send us out in the power of your spirit to live and work to your praise and glory. Amen
Banns, Notices and Announcements
Please stand for the Blessing and Dismissal
The Lord be with you All And also with you
May God, who kindled the fire of love in the hearts of the saints,
pour upon you the riches of his grace. Amen.
May God give you joy in their fellowship and a share in their praises. Amen.
13
May God strengthen you to follow them in the way of holiness
and to come to the full radiance of glory. Amen.
And the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always. Amen.
Following God’s saints in the ways of holiness and truth,
go in the peace of Christ. All Thanks be to God.
Remain standing for the closing hymn
Let saints on earth in concert sing With those whose work is done;
For all the servants of our King In heaven and earth are one.
One family, we dwell in him, One church, above, beneath;
Though now divided by the stream, The narrow stream of death.
One army of the living God, To his command we bow:
Part of his host has crossed the flood, And part is crossing now.
E'en now to their eternal home
There pass some spirits blest; While others to the margin come,
Waiting their call to rest.
Jesu, be thou our constant guide;
Then, when the word is given, Bid Jordan's narrow stream divide,
And bring us safe to heaven. Charles Wesley (1707-88) Tune: Dundee
Please remain standing whilst the clergy and servers depart
