It is almost unheard of to participate with any level of commitment to a sport or art without attending specialized camps to help foster your skills! These camps can cost upwards to $1000 for a week of camp. And often there is more than one you could attend especially if you are a multi-activity student. But what about Bible Camp? What if we put priority on training up our young people in their faith which will last them their whole life through, while other activities may come and go. What would happen if we put money and time into fostering the faith of our young people? Think about it this way… If you spend 1 hour a week at Church that equals out to about 55 hours a year. But Sugar Creek Bible Camp provided 40,000 hours of intentional Christian Education over the 2019 Summer Program. Now is the time, camp registration for Sugar Creek is open. Please encourage someone you know to consider camp this summer, there are activities for all ages! Greetings Siblings in Christ, What if we looked at our faith life in the same way that people look at extra-curricular activities like sports or music? Sugar Creek:

I encourage you to look at camp for the youth in your life. “We want all children in our congregations to look forward to lasting faith formation, safe outdoor adventures, and social skill advancement typical of top-quality camps like Sugar Creek.” Finances should never stop a child from attending a Lutheran Camp, both the camp and our congregations have scholarships available to help anyone get to camp! It would be fun to find a week that we could call ours and send as many kids as possible to camp!

Time and Talent Sheets: If you have not filled out your time and talent sheets, there is still time! Please stop by the church or contact the office for a digital copy. We would love for you to take stock of the gifts God is equipping you to use in this time. Don’t let your gifts go unwrapped!

The Annual meetings of each church were lovely. Everyone brought such tasty treats that I enjoyed nibbling. And the discussions were good and productive. It looks like you all are on the right track for 2020

The Women’s retreat was a blast despite the fact that we retreated in Holmen rather than venturing out with the possibility of getting stuck in Rochester with that big snowstorm. All of our activities carried forward as planned with the exception of being able to hear a presentation from the Women’s Shelter but we were able to donate all our baked goods to New Horizons here in town. Hopefully some of you will be able to join us next time!

Carnival CARNIVAL CARNIVAL!

What fun to see everyone playing, laughing and enjoying a beautiful Sunday together, there were many new faces and so much good food! Thank you to everyone who worked, donated, and participated.

Other Business: We will close out the coffee money asset of $143.96 (149.000) and transfer it to the general fund. Cindy Tracey was delegated to handle the

designation of where the coffee money would go monthly. The council, in order to save money, dropped some entities we formerly gave to and decided we would use

coffee money and noisy offerings to replenish these coffers. February-March –

Joint Council Meeting Mindoro and Lewis Valley Lutheran Churches

Tuesday, February 11, 2020

Present: Pastor Alyssa, Barb Anderson, Ginny Wegner, Nick Sinotte, Becky Whalen, Sharon Pfaff, John McRae, Debbie Salek, Bill Knutson, Cindy Tracey, Ronnie Moore, Mary Kastenschmidt, Sandy Stetzer, Rita Cox, Jim Hines and Jodi Anderson.

John McRae made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Bill Knutson. MMSP

Pastor Alyssa has been to Thailand and a Women's Retreat in Rochester. She has had one funeral, two deaths, zero baptisms and weddings.

The Education Team needs to meet and discuss a policy for canceling Sunday School. Sunday School and confirmation are going well.

The question was brought to the council to see if the churches will have their own outreach teams. There was some discussion and it was decided to table this until they define what the teams objectives would be.

There was discussion on the parsonage remodel and it was suggested to get a bid from a couple of contractors. Jim will take care of this and email his results to the council.

There was nothing new from Staff support.

We did not get the videos we had planned to use for the annual meeting so we will have a drive this fall and, once again, try and get more individuals interested in electronic giving.

The Worship Team has been meeting monthly and we will be trying something new for lent. We are using the Holman setting for lent. The sermons for Lent will be testimony or face talks of sharing a story of faith or witnessed by individuals. These will be two to five minutes in length. Sundays during Lent we will be using a service written by a colleague of Pastor Alyssa. Ash Wednesday is February 26th at Mindoro. There is going to be communion every Sunday. The first and third Sundays will be full communion at the rail. The second, fourth and fifth Sundays will be by intinction. This will be starting in
