Dominicans welcome newbies at Pasalubong ’15 By: Ma. Gelli Anne Escober New faces in red assembled at the school grounds as they participated in Pasalubong 2015, the annual welcome ceremony of St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA), June 16. The Pasalubong ceremony was started by the traditional waving of the second largest flag being held by the news Dominicans. It was followed by the welcome remarks of the newly elected Central College Student Council (CCSC) President, Mr. Rico Ramas, stressing that a true Dominican must act in their own little way. Students from the recently established organization, International Students Association performed a danced number showcasing their talents and culture. It proves how SDCA promotes multicultural advocacy. SDCA President, Dr. Gregorio A. Andaman Jr., delivered his inspirational message to the new members of Dominican Community. Afterwards, SDCA Administrators were introduced for the familiarization of the students. The members of the Board of Trustees and Quality Assurance were presented by Ms. Mara N. Aban, Human Resource Officer while Dr. NIlda W. Balsicas, Vice President for Academic and Research, introduced the Academic Council. Prof. Alvin Jason Virata, Director for Administrative Support Services presented the administrative Council while Prof. Mariano Ching, Director for Finance introduced the members of the Finance Department. Lastly, Mr. Jonathan Velustria Sta. Ana, Department of Student Affairs and Services (DSAS) Director, presented the Student Affairs and Services personnel. As the highlight of the ceremony, senior student representatives from different programs passed their pins and gave their letters to the freshmen. Now on its sixth year, Pasalubong serves as an inspiration for the new students. After the ceremony, the student leaders of each organization showed the facilities and explored the whole campus.
