“I work as an administration assistant and in my role I have become very interested in the technology behind IT and hopefully in the future re-train as an IT technician. I wanted something that was evening based which meant I could plan it around my family life.

“This course is a beginner’s guide which is ideal for me. I didn’t know anything about computers before so it gives you a good basic grounding. The lecturers provide great support and encouragement and for me this course is hopefully a stepping stone to a better career.”

With plentiful experience but only a few formal qualifications, Tarla has found it difficult to get a new job so she decided up-skill with the IT Skills Centre to improve her job prospects.

Tarla has completed the Level 2 ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence), Level 1 Award in Book Keeping Skills (computerised) with the IT Skills Centre – and it doesn’t stop there as she recently completed a Business Administration Professionals Level 2 course and has also enrolled on the SAGE Payroll IAB Level 2, both at Leicester College’s Abbey Park Campus.
