PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We, the parishioners of Holy Innocents Parish, rooted in and flowing from a deep love of God and neighbor, and nourished by the Eucharist, pledge to live, proclaim, and give witness to the Gospel of Jesus. Holy Innocents Parish, a multi-cultural community of communities, through the richness of our faith and the diversity of our gifts, is committed to making Jesus’ vision, “that all may be one” a reality.

PARISH REGISTRATION We warmly welcome all who have recently moved into our parish neighborhood. We invite you to contact the parish in order to register and receive information about our Church. If you are not receiving mailings from the parish, you are probably not registered yet. Please notify the rectory if you changed your address, phone number, or if you are moving from the parish. Thank you.

BAPTISM The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at 1:30 PM on the Second Sunday of the month in Spanish and the Third Sunday of the month in English. Parents need to contact the rectory to set up an appointment to make arrangements for the baptism of their child and register for the baptismal class which is held the First Tuesday of each month in Spanish and the Second Tuesday of each month in English. Baptisms in Vietnamese can be arranged by contacting Fr. Vincent.

MATRIMONY

Couples planning to be married should contact one of the priests at their earliest convenience but no less than six months before the wedding.

CARE OF THE SICK

Please notify the rectory when someone is seriously ill or in the hospital. We will put them on the prayer list. Arrangements can be made for visits and reception of the sacraments.

DECLARACION DE LA MISION Nosotros, los feligreses de la parroquia Los Santos Inocentes, arraigados en y manando de un profundo amor a Dios y al prójimo, y alimentados por la Eucaristía, nos comprometemos a vivir, proclamar, y dar testimonio al Evangelio de Jesucristo. INSCRIPCION EN LA PARROQUIA Bienvenidos a toda las personas nuevas que viven en la comunidad de nuestra parroquia. Les invitamos a ponerse en contacto la parroquia para inscribirse o recibir información. Si usted no está recibiendo correspondencia de la parroquia, eso indica que no está inscrito todavía. EL BAUTISMO El sacramento del Bautismo es celebrado a la 1:30 PM cada Segundo domingo del mes en español y cada tercer domingo del mes en Inglés. Los padres del niño/a deben pedir una cita con la rectoría para ponerse de acuerdo con requisitos para el bautismo y también inscribirse para la charla pre bautismal que se lleva acabo cada primer martes del mes en español y cada segundo martes del mes en ingles. Los bautismos en vietnamita pueden ser arreglados con el Padre Vicente.

MATRIMONIO Parejas planeando en casarse deben comunicarse con uno de los sacerdotes de la parroquia lo mas pronto possible, no menos de 6 meses antes de la boda.

CUIDADO A LOS ENFERMOS Por favor notifique a la rectoria cuando se encuentre alguien criticamente emfermo o en el hospital. Los pondremos en la lista de oracion en la misa. Se puede pedir visitas en la casa y hospital y tambien la recepcion de los dacramentos.

Bố Mẹ và Cha Mẹ đỡ đầu của các Em phải đến văn phòng Nhà Xứ làm hẹn, điền đơn và ghi danh theo học lớp Giáo Lý. Tối Thứ Ba thuộc tuần thứ nhất trong tháng, lớp Giáo Lý dành cho người Tây Ban Nha. A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear Friends,

On this Fourth Sunday of Advent, two days before Christmas, I say welcome to Holy Innocents. And a very special welcome to members of the CAPE family. As many know, CAPE stands for Christmas, Ashes, Palms, and Easter. Yes, I tease each Christmas and Easter that the Sunday regulars need to make room for this very important family. Members of this family traditionally join us one to four times a year for Mass. Of course, I am very happy to see the CAPE family each time they join us for Mass…as we all are. But I remind this family that our church is open 52 Sundays a year and it would be very good to see them more than four times a year. I can offer this reminder to our CAPE family, but you who are present each and every Sunday need to inspire our CAPE’ers to a greater participation in their church.

Inspiring others to do anything is not an easy task…especially if you are not inspired to do so. Some who come to Mass each Sunday may be “just going through the motions” to avoid committing a sin. Yes, some people come to Mass each Sunday out of obligation since it is a commandment to “keep holy the Lord’s Day.” So, those of us who regularly attend Mass each Sunday need to have our hearts set afire with the love of God. It is this love, my brothers and sisters, that will eventually inspire others to a greater participation in their church.

When I talk of inspiring others to a greater participation in their parish, I am not asking you to do more than take the words of St. Francis of Assisi to heart, “Preach the Gospel always. When necessary use words.” Knowing that you are the only “Gospel” many people will ever read, your love for God will inspire others to a deeper love for God and a greater participation in their church. Yes, my friends, we know that actions always speak louder than words. When people see you living your faith, performing the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, they will take note. When members of the CAPE family see you “rejoicing in hope, being patient under trial, and persevering in prayer” (Romans 12:12) they will know that there is nothing superficial about your faith. It is the bedrock of your life, giving meaning and direction to all you say and do in life. It is this authentic life of faith and love that will inspire others to follow in your footsteps.

As we enter this Christmas season be mindful of one or two members of the CAPE family you could help return to a greater participation in church. They may even be living under the same roof. Spend some time with that person. Listen to their concerns and reasons for not participating. Help them work through their anger over a church that has broken too many of its promises. And yes, preach the Gospel always, using words only when necessary.

PS. Our Hispanic Community sponsored a wonderful Christmas Dance on the first Saturday of the month. Besides having over 250 people enjoy a night of fine food, music, and dancing, the dance raised over $4,700 for the parish. Many thanks to all who prepared food and assisted with this wonderful evening.

Catholic Social Services Needs Foster Parents for Unaccompanied Children Program Catholic Social Services (CSS) is recruiting foster care parents to welcome unaccompanied children from Mexico and Central America into their homes. These pre-adolescent children have come here alone or been separated from their families at the border, and many have experienced significant trauma. What they need are caring individuals or families willing to provide a supportive foster care home environment for 2 to 3 months while the children attend a daily educational and counseling program located at the former St. Bernard School on 7340 Jackson Street in Northeast Philadelphia. Households within about a half-hour commuting distance to the program would be preferable. Ability to speak some Spanish, but not required. Queridos amigos,

En este cuarto domingo de Adviento, dos días antes de Navidad, doy la bienvenida a Santos Inocentes. Y una bienvenida muy especial a los miembros de la familia CAPE. Como muchos saben, CAPE (Christmas, Ashes, Palms, and Easter) significa Navidad, Cenizas, Palmas y Pascua. Sí, bromeo cada Navidad y Pascua que los domingos de domingo necesitan para hacer espacio para esta familia tan importante. Los miembros de esta familia tradicionalmente se unen a nosotros una a cuatro veces al año para la misa. Por supuesto, estoy muy feliz de ver a la familia CAPE cada vez que se unen a nosotros para la misa ... como todos lo somos. Pero le recuerdo a esta familia que nuestra iglesia está abierta 52 domingos al año y sería muy bueno verlos más de cuatro veces al año. Puedo ofrecer este recordatorio a nuestra familia de CAPE, pero ustedes que están presentes todos los domingos deben inspirar a nuestros miembros de la familia de CAPE a una mayor participación en su iglesia.

Inspirar a otros para que hagan algo no es una tarea fácil ... especialmente si no estás inspirado para hacerlo. Algunos de los que asisten a misa cada domingo pueden estar "simplemente siguiendo los movimientos" para evitar cometer un pecado. Sí, algunas personas acuden a misa cada domingo por obligación, ya que es un mandamiento de "santificar el Día del Señor". Por lo tanto, aquellos de nosotros que asistimos regularmente a la misa cada domingo necesitamos que nuestros corazones se enciendan con el amor de Dios. Es este amor, mis hermanos y hermanas, el que eventualmente inspirará a otros a una mayor participación en su iglesia.

Cuando hablo de inspirar a otros a una mayor participación en su parroquia, no le pido que haga más que tomarse en serio las palabras de San Francisco de Asís: “Predique el Evangelio siempre. Cuando sea necesario, use palabras. “ Sabiendo que usted es el único " Evangelio” que muchas personas leerán, su amor por Dios inspirará a otros a un amor más profundo por Dios y una mayor participación en su iglesia. Sí, amigos míos, sabemos que las acciones siempre hablan más que las palabras. Cuando la gente te vea viviendo tu fe, realizando las obras de misericordia corporales y espirituales, tomarán nota. Cuando los miembros de la familia CAPE te vean "regocijándote en la esperanza, siendo paciente bajo prueba y perseverando en la oración" (Romanos 12:12) sabrán que no hay nada superficial acerca de tu fe. Es la base de tu vida, que da sentido y dirección a todo lo que dices y haces en la vida. Es esta auténtica vida de fe y amor la que inspirará a otros a seguir sus pasos.

Al comenzar esta temporada navideña, tenga en cuenta que uno o dos miembros de la familia CAPE podrían ayudar a regresar a una mayor participación en la iglesia. Incluso pueden estar viviendo bajo el mismo techo. Pasa algún tiempo con esa persona. Escuche sus preocupaciones y razones para no participar. Ayúdeles a superar su enojo por una iglesia que ha roto muchas de sus promesas. Y sí, predicar el Evangelio siempre, usando palabras solo cuando sea necesario.

Además de tener más de 250 personas que disfrutan de una noche de buena comida, música y baile, el baile recaudó más de $ 4,700 para la parroquia. COLECCIÓN DE COMIDA es el tercer Domingo de mes. Estamos agradecidos por su generosidad n donar comida no perecedera.

Bautismo de los Niños Si quiere bautizar a un niño, hay que llamar a la rectoría al 215-743-2600 para hacer una cita con un sacerdote para arreglar los detalles del bautismo. No se puede ir a la clase pre-bautismal sin haberse reunido con el sacerdote primero. También, para bautizar en los Santos Inocentes hay que estar registrado aquí. Se puede hacer una cita para registrarse, o se puede registrar cuando venga para hablar del bautismo. Finalmente, cuando está escogiendo a sus padrinos, tenga en cuenta que la responsabilidad principal de un padrino es dar buen ejemplo al ahijado de lo que es vivir bien la fe católica. Por eso, para ser padrino, hay que haber recibido todos los sacramentos (bautismo, confirmación, comunión), estar registrado y participando en la iglesia (en esta parroquia u otra), y si es casado, ser casado por la Iglesia. Gracias por su atención en estos asuntos. Que Dios le brinde muchas bendiciones a su familia.

Clases de Inglés: Las clases a La Misión de Santa Juana de Arco para aprender inglés, el lunes, miércoles, jueves y viernes a las

11:30AM hasta el 1:00 del mediodía y el lunes y martes a las 7PM hasta a las 8:30PM. El costo es $20.00 para el

El Adviento está lleno de imágenes marianas. A

primera vista, el Evangelio de hoy suena

sencillamente como una historia del encuentro

entre María y su prima Isabel. Pero, examinando

más de cerca, vemos que el encuentro es entre

las criaturas que las mujeres llevan en su vientre:

es Jesús encontrándose con Juan. Fue solamente

por el poder del Espíritu Santo que Isabel pudo

reconocer como bendito al fruto del vientre de

Maria. Maria fue bendecida porque creyó que

se cumpliría en ella la Palabra del Señor,

habiéndose sometido completamente a la

Palabra de Dios. Con esta reflexión, podemos

hacernos estas preguntas: "¿Abrimos nuestro

corazón y nuestros sentidos a la voluntad de

Dios? ¿Permitimos que se cumplan sus

promesas en nosotros?"

RICA es el programa de catequismo para los adultos

Igelsia Católica, y para los católicos bautizados

quienes no han recibido los sacramentos de la

primera comunión o la confirmación. Las clases de

BÀI ĐỌC I: Mk 5, 2-5a (Hr 1-4a) "Nơi ngươi sẽ xuất hiện Đấng thống trị Israel". Bài trích sách Tiên tri Mikha. Đây lời Chúa phán: "Hỡi Bêlem Ephrata, ngươi nhỏ nhất trong trăm ngàn phần đất Giuđa, nhưng nơi ngươi sẽ xuất hiện một Đấng thống trị Israel, và nguồn gốc Người có từ nguyên thuỷ, từ muôn đời. Vì thế, Người sẽ bỏ dân Người cho đến khi một người nữ phải sinh, sẽ sinh con. Số còn lại trong anh em Người, sẽ trở về với con cái Israel. Người sẽ đứng vững và chăn dắt trong sức mạnh của Chúa, trong thánh danh cao cả của Chúa là Thiên Chúa của Người. Và họ sẽ trở về, vì bấy giờ Người sẽ nên cao trọng cho đến tận cùng trái đất. Vì vậy, Người sẽ là chính sự bình an". Đó là lời Chúa. ĐÁP CA: Tv 79, 2ac và 3b. 15-16. 18-19 Đáp: Lạy Chúa là Thiên Chúa chúng con, xin cho chúng con được phục hồi, xin tỏ thiên nhan hiền từ Chúa ra, hầu cho chúng con được ơn cứu sống(c. 4). Xướng: 1) Lạy Đấng chăn dắt Israel, xin hãy lắng tai nghe! Chúa ngự trên Vệ Binh Thần, xin hiện ra trong sáng

láng. Xin thức tỉnh quyền năng của Chúa, và ngự tới để cứu độ chúng con. - Đáp. 2) Lạy Chúa thiên binh, xin thương trở lại, từ trời cao xin nhìn coi và thăm viếng vườn nho này. Xin bảo vệ vườn nho mà tay hữu Ngài đã cấy, bảo vệ ngành mà Ngài đã củng cố cho mình. - Đáp. 3) Xin Chúa ra tay bang trợ người ở bên tay hữu Chúa, con người mà Chúa đã củng cố cho mình. Chúng con sẽ không còn rời xa Chúa nữa. Chúa cho chúng con được sống, và chúng con ca tụng danh Người. - Đáp. BÀI ĐỌC II: Dt 10, 5-10 "Này đây con đến để thi hành thánh ý Chúa" Bài trích thơ gởi tín hữu Do-thái. Anh em thân mến, khi đến trong thế gian, Chúa Giêsu phán: "Chúa đã không muốn của hy tế và của lễ hiến dâng, nhưng đã tạo nên cho tôi một thể xác. Chúa không nhận của lễ toàn thiêu và của lễ đền tội. Nên tôi nói: 'Lạy Chúa, này con đến để thi hành thánh ý Chúa, như đã nói về con ở đoạn đầu cuốn sách'". Sách ấy bắt đầu như thế này: "Của lễ hy tế, của lễ hiến dâng, của lễ toàn thiêu và của lễ đền tội, Chúa không muốn cũng không nhận, mặc dầu được hiến dâng theo lề luật. Đoạn Người nói tiếp: Lạy Chúa, này đây con đến để thi hành thánh ý Chúa". Như thế đã bãi bỏ điều trước để thiết lập điều sau. Chính bởi thánh ý đó mà chúng ta được thánh hoá nhờ việc hiến dâng Mình Chúa Giêsu Kitô một lần là đủ. Đó là lời Chúa. ALLELUIA: Lc 1, 38 Alleluia, alleluia! Ệ "Này tôi là tôi tớ Chúa, tôi xin vâng như lời Thiên thần truyền". - Alleluia. PHÚC ÂM: Lc 1, 39-45 "Bởi đâu tôi được Mẹ Thiên Chúa đến viếng thăm tôi". Tin Mừng Chúa Giêsu Kitô theo Thánh Luca.
