Again I hear an audible voice saying, “I miss the sound of birds singing in the trees… the colors and smells of spring. I miss early morning tee times, and summer afternoons with my grandkids at the ball park.” These were the thoughts running through my mind as I scraped the ice from my windshield, and begin to make mental notes for the work week looming before me. Some people might call it multitasking; but a more accurate description would be musing. I was musing over the weekly cycle of sermons prepared, presented, and starting all over again. I was musing over life lived and life lost… and how best to bring words of comfort and hope to persons and families facing sickness, brokenness, and financial despair. As the pressures of the office weighed heavily on me… I again felt the shiver of the cold winter wind. Immediately my mind betrayed me with the memory of a warm spring breeze. I shared these thoughts with my wife, and she said not to worry, it was just a mild case of depression brought on by a lack of time in the sun. Later that day I discovered Teresa was right. I opened my Bible for my morning devotion only to realize I had misinterpreted the most important word of her counsel. “It was a mild form of depression brought on by a lack of time with the Son.” Most Christians are familiar with the scripture text previously cited… but often I think we quit reading far too soon. Allow me to briefly share with you what you would discover if you continue reading: “I have seen the hard work God has given us to do. God has also given us a desire to know the future. God certainly does everything at just the right time. But we can never completely understand what He is doing. So I realize that the best thing for people is to be happy. They should enjoy themselves as long as they live. God wants everyone to eat drink and be happy in his work. These are gifts from God” (Ecclesiastes 3:10-13 EBV). Did you catch it? If not allow me to offer the pastor’s paraphrase. “God has given us all a job to do… these are gifts from God. We may desire to know the future, but we must trust God does everything at just the right time. So go to work… don’t muse... and be happy!” Together in HIS service, Bro Tim

(Ecclesiastes 3:1) Greetings in Christ, “Where’s my car keys,” I ask myself out loud? “Oh, there they are.” These one voice conversations no longer surprise me. you have any ideas or suggestions please

give them to me.

Angel Harrington,

Director of Children Ministry

Youth Ministry

Allyson here! The New Year has started off with many blessings and I couldn’t be happier to be

a part of this church family. The month of February will be very busy for our youth, parents,

and church members feel free to get involved. I feel it’s important to continue our mission to

build up our young people’s awareness of the world around them and their responsibilities as

Christians to take care of God’s people. Most of our Wednesday night activities will continue to

build on that mission and this month will be jam packed with opportunities to not only hear

God’s message but to share His word.

What to expect:

Feb 6th- Owensboro Community and Technical College’s campus ministries will visit as our guest speaker for the evening

Feb 13th- “loving your Christian self”, (in honor of Valentine’s Day) guest speaker Cindy Hudson doing facials with the kids and talking about self-respect as a Christian youth

Feb 20th- Youth group mix and mingle, Fourth Street Baptist youth group will fellowship with us

Feb 27th- “Workout and worship”, youth to visit the local YMCA to tour, pray, and play!

These opportunities are not just limited to the youth, parents we

would love to see your participation or even volunteerism would

be greatly appreciated.

Sunday mornings we will continue to use the

YouthtoMinitstry.com curriculum, Brother Tim’s teachings, and

fun hands on activities.

That’s all for now!

Sunday shenanigans! Ben and Carter participating in our lesson on change.

from the Music Ministry........ WOW! What a wonderful Christmas season we

experienced this year! And here we are in the season of Epiphany! I want to first say that I

was so blessed by all of you with the beautiful angel/cross pendant that you presented to me at

the conclusion of the cantata! If you have not seen my pendent, check out the picture! I am

so unworthy of such love but have been SO blessed in all of your kindnesses! And, thank you

for the warm welcome you extended to Prentice's and my kids! They marveled at the open

arms you extended to them!

Speaking of the cantata, kids play, and Christmas Eve candlelight service, thanks to everyone

who helped put all of these services together! I continue to be amazed at the talent and team

efforts that so many contribute to!

Here we are with many new events coming up SOON! Yes, Saturday, February 9th is just

around the corner! We are looking forward to The Songfellows return for a 7:00 p.m. concert!

In addition to the fellows presenting a full concert that

evening, but we also have some other special folks coming

to present. Can you think of a better name for a comedian that "Witty?" I'm referring to

Conya Witty (Bro. Tim's sister!) If you haven't heard her present her funny takes on life, you

have been missing out! Then, our own Kidz Khoir will present a new interpretive song with

their sticks! So, there is no reason to not come!!!!! There will be something for everyone!

Parents/grandparents, we will have a special "stick rehearsal" at noon on February 9th just to

get our minds in gear for that evening presentation. Also, the kiddos will need to wear their

purple t-shirts that evening. Thank you for taking such great care of them since our last

presentation!

We have hit the ground running with new ministry opportunities! There are many ministries

in our church that offer opportunities for spiritual growth while at the same time provide

ministry to others. You know already what I'm getting ready to say! Of course, the music

ministry is one of those many ministries. Perhaps while singing those favorite Christmas

carols, or watching the Christmas Play watching the Kidz Khoir singing and seeing the lead-

ers working with them, you felt God nudging you to

get involved in some way. By getting involved, you

will be greatly blessed, I assure you!

It is near time to begin Easter preparations! We will

begin working on music for Easter during February!

I urge you to pray about how you can contribute to

this ministry. It comes right down to this fact....we

need you....and you need us....together we can grow

closer to our Master! Jane

The Next Generation

CPW Next Generation met Thursday January 3rd at the church. Present were Brittni Klotzback,

Lynsie Mantooth, Amy Jacobs, and Sarah Dant. Lynsie gave the devotional which focused on

encouragement for the new year. To leave your worries with God as he has everything under

control even though you might feel you’re starting off behind. Lynsie presented a project which

was agreed upon to start in late January or early February. We will be putting together “big kids”

packets of biblical word search/coloring pages to anyone who wants one for their older child

during church. We ask for the clipboards to be placed back in the basket at the end of service so

they can be refilled. Sarah brought cookies for a snack and daytime CPW provided food, crafts,

and supervision for the kids. Our next meeting will be held at 5:30 on February 7th at the church.

Child care is provided and we normally meet until 7:00 so drop in even if we’ve already started.

We would love to have you come join our conversation!

Sarah Dant Secretary

give because HE gave

Thanks to the tremendous support of our “Be Kind” sign project,

we have been able to:

1. Sponsor one bed for one year at St. Benedict's Shelter

2. Donate $1000 to the Daviess County Public Schools

to help with school lunch payments

3. Donate $1200 to the Owensboro Public Schools

Family Resource Centers.

4. Purchase coffee for several homeless shelters

In addition plans are in action to purchase and install 2 prayer benches at the Hospice of Western Kentucky’s Heartford House; while 10% of total

donations will be given to the OCPC Remodeling Fund .

Signs are still available for a $10 donation.

But most of all, we have been truly blessed to hear all the heartwarming testimonies of how the signs have impacted the lives of people in our community and beyond. God has truly been present in this project!
