1a) Write about colour in relation to example interface designs The game I chose to do was extreme landing. Extreme landing uses a bright interface which emphasizes the idea that the game is meant to be about having an emergency landing after the plane has taken off. The game is about what would happen if the planes engines fail, have landing gear problems or to even wind problems and see if you can successfully land the plane with help from the control tower or being able to do it yourself. Due to the bright colours, it attracts many people who are into planes or for someone new who wants to try something different like try to land a plane in multiple serious conditions. The interface is very easy to understand and play because only the slightly brighter icons are what you have unlocked until the player progress through the game and unlocks more different/ difficult missions. The brighter colours used in the game like yellow, green and red are used to stand out and attract the player’s eye to look at this first because it is something important. Some of the examples of this are when you have completed the missions the challenged passed and how far it took you to stop are in yellow and green.

The background colours used in this game uses monochromatic colours, this means that the colours blend together by tinting the colour which makes the sky more realistic and as if there was a storm in the background.

1b) Write about layout and graphics in relation to example interface

In Extreme landings the layout is consistent because of the simple easy to understand table interface, this helps the user to skim the page rather than reading the entire information which helps the user to understand quickly, what levels they have unlocked and what star rating they have got for completing the previous levels.

The games interface has a high quality picture of a plane which Emphasis interface and captures the users eye and then helps the user to work down the page to play the missions.

In the extreme landings settings they are very easy to under stand because everything is spaced out and the icons for the controls, audio etc.. are very clear and the font is large enough to read with ease just like the start page. The developers have also continued to use a brighter colour for what part of the settings the user is in which helps with ease of use.

1c) Write about accessibility in relation to user design environments

The interactivity of extreme landing is important for accessibility because instructions in some large plane games are hard and difficult to use. In the game the shapes of the planes trajectory changes and helps the users to safely guide the plane down to safety with no engines, also when you are approaching the runway the little speed indicator changes for red which means slow down to green which means you are at the correct speed and follow the planes path that is provided. The text in the player is in the pilot seat is quite hard to see because some of the text is a shaded grey/ white which a person with good eye sight could see, but someone that needs glasses or has visual impairments would struggle to read the text and might put them off from playing the game.
