Preparing for Next Sunday Fourth Sunday of Lent

In the first reading, the Lord sends Samuel to Jesse of Bethlehem because the Lord has chosen the new king from among Jesse’s sons. Samuel goes, and anoints David in the presence of his brothers. In Saint Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, he exhorts them to live as children of the light. In the Gospel, Jesus encounters a man blind from birth. After Jesus gives the man sight, the Pharisees become divided over the account. The man defends Jesus, explaining that he must be from God.

Congratulations! We are at 81% of our Ignite Goal!

We are continuing to move toward our goal. We are close to 81% of our campaign goal! This past week 11 families turned in their pledges. This is awesome! I want to remind you of the importance of being active in this campaign. The damages from Hurricane Harvey in our church were enormous and the Archdiocese spent close to a million dollars to redo our church. Plus, we have been receiving financial assistance including our school from the Archdiocese in many ways. The Archdiocese and the Pastor are not responsible for our parish. Each single parishioner is responsible for their own place of worship, in the Catholic Church or in other denominations. We should be grateful with all the economical help that we are receiving from the Archdiocese. Can you imagine what we would have done if the Archdiocese hadn't repaired our church? We would be closed! I think that its fair that even though some of you don’t agree with me, to give back to the Archdiocese a small part of what they have been doing for us. Our goal is $365,125 for this campaign. This is nothing over 4 years in comparison to the money that was spent to repair our church. We have now 165 families who have pledged in this project. I appreciate and I am so happy with these families who are understanding the meaning of this message. Please feel proud of yourselves! I beg the rest of the families to take responsibility for their church with a financial commitment that is not too much if we do it all together. Let us Ignite our faith! Not everyone can give the same amount but we all

can come together as a community and do our part If you haven’t pledged and would like to pledge

today stop by the campaign table after mass to pick up your pledge form. I will advise you to consider to do your pledge for each salary in your home.

For those who selected cash or check as a payment method for your pledge, the parish office will be mailing you two envelopes for you to use.

I am praying to God that this community can understand and be serious with how our church depends economically on the support of each and every family.

¡Felicidades! ¡Estamos al 81% de Nuestra Campaña Enciende!

Seguimos avanzando para lograr nuestro objetivo. Estamos cerca del 81% de nuestra campaña. Esta semana que pasó 11 familias entregaron sus promesas. ¡Esto es increíble! Quiero recordarles la importancia de ser activo en esta campaña. Los daños del huracán Harvey en nuestra iglesia fueron enormes y la Arquidiócesis gastó cerca de un millón de dólares para rehacer nuestra iglesia. Además, hemos recibido asistencia financiera de muchas maneras incluyendo nuestra escuela. La Arquidiócesis y el Pastor no son responsables de nuestra parroquia. Cada feligrés es responsable de su propio lugar de culto, en la Iglesia Católica o en otras denominaciones religiosas. Deberíamos estar agradecidos con toda la ayuda económica que estamos recibiendo. ¿Se imaginan lo que hubiéramos hecho si la Arquidiócesis no hubiera reparado nuestra iglesia? ¡Estaríamos cerrados! Creo que es de justicia, devolver a la Arquidiócesis una pequeña parte de lo que han estado haciendo por nosotros, aunque algunos de ustedes no estén de acuerdo conmigo. Nuestro objetivo es $365,125 para esta campaña, dividido entre 4 años. Esto no es nada en comparación con el dinero que nos ha dado la Arquidiócesis. Ahora tenemos 165 familias que se han comprometido en este proyecto. podemos unirnos como comunidad y hacer nuestra parte.

• Si no se han comprometido y desean hacerlo hoy, pasen por las mesas de la campaña que están afuera, después de misa para recoger su formulario de compromiso. Les aconsejo que consideren hacer su compromiso por cada salario en su hogar.

• Para aquellos que seleccionaron efectivo o cheque como método de pago para su compromiso, la oficina parroquial les enviará por correo dos sobres para que los usen.

• ¡Gracias por sus continuas oraciones, apoyo y generosidad! Pido a Dios para que esta comunidad pueda entender y tomar en serio la forma en que nuestra iglesia depende económicamente del apoyo de todas y cada una de las familias.

Young Adult Ministry Social Potluck dinner will be March 27, 2020, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. All young adults (18-35) are invited to have dinner together. We will get to know each other through conversation and games. We will also discuss future events! Veritas night will be April 3, 2020, from 600 - 9:00 PM. All young adults (18-35) are invited to have dinner at the weekly fish fry and attend the stations of the cross together. We will gather together in the parish center to discuss the stations of the cross and our Lenten experience.

Next week, our parish will take up the Catholic Relief Services Collection. This collection helps to improve the quality of life and protect human dignity. Your gift will support agricultural development to strengthen economies and create food sustainability, provide outreach services to survivors of human trafficking, and supply pastoral care and advocacy for immigrants and refugees.

La próxima semana, nuestra parroquia estará recogiendo la Colecta para los Servicios Católicos de Alivio. Esta recolección ayuda la calidad de vida y protegen la dignidad humana. Su aporte apoyará el desarrollo agrícola para reforzar economías y crear la sostenibilidad de alimentos, provee servicios a los sobrevivientes del tráfico humano, y suministran cuidado pastoral y la defensa de los inmigrantes y refugiados.
