BackgroundThe Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federa(OSSTF) sets aside funds on an annual basis tointernational assistance and relief programs. Funmade available to groups or individuals recognizOSSTF as reflecting the goals of OSSTF to assiin various parts of the world.

* Criteria for fundingAny international program or project receiving asfrom OSSTF must include one or more of the fcriteria:

assisting with the organization and operation democratic unions within the education sector membership development)

promoting and protecting the civil rights of edunion leaders by working to eliminate harassmphysical abuse and incarceration of such lead

promoting equality of opportunity for women

defending oppressed groups

giving preference to secondary education proj

supporting and promoting public education ins

training the trainers

promoting grassroots community-based literacnumeracy training (including adult education)

reflecting the goals of OSSTF to assist equitavarious parts of the world

Funding will normally be limited to a maximum oany one year.
