Organization

The Dazzlers (Dragon Youth Dazzlers)

The Southlake, TX Dazzlers are the exclusive Dance/Pom Drill Team of Dragon Youth Football for students, grades 2nd-6th. This program was developed to provide Southlake youth students an opportunity to learn dance and drill team fundamentals and add spirit to our youth football and cheer teams. We are a non-competitive dance and drill team organization that focuses on teamwork, self confidence, and simply having fun.

Our season runs from August through mid November in coordination with the Dragon Youth Football season as well as performances at local festivals and pep rallies.

Q&A1. Number of Games/Performances?- There will be 5 games/half times to perform during.

2. Other outside events/opportunities to perform or participate? -Yes, we are hoping the girls will perform during the community pep rally, DYF/DYC night, and during other local events (Octoberfest).

3. Required Practice and camp dates? See next page. Most practices would be held at a Dana’s Dance Studios in Southlake. Camps and a few practices will be held at Dana’s Dance Studio’s in Keller (due to a larger space).

4. 2020 Registration costs? $165 Regular Registration (this does not include uniform or accessories fees)

5. How many routines will the Dazzlers learn? 2-3

6. Can you honor friend requests? Unfortunately, no friend requests can be accepted since we only have a limited number of spots available and two teams. Sibling requests will be honored.

7. Can my child participate in both Dragon Youth Cheer AND Dragon Dazzlers? Yes, it can be done but the Dragon Dazzlers must take first priority since we perform as a team. Meaning if you have a game to cheer at and a Dazzler performance you must attend the Dazzler performance. It can be done but it is very hectic as you may have to be running back and forth from a cheer event to a Dazzler event. Sometimes the games and performances occur at the exact same time so just something to keep in mind before you make both commitments.

Q&A (continued)How many Dazzlers will we have in 2020?

• For 2020 we will have a total of 50 dazzlers. Two squads. Returning Dazzlers and Coaches children will fill those spots first and have priority. With this in mind, we have already filled 27 of the 50 spots (with returning Dazzlers and coaches children). Meaning there are only 23 total spots available for new Dazzlers to join this year.

• Registration will begin on April 1st and will be first come first serve for the 23 spots available. All returning and potential new Dazzlers must first fill out your Dazzler Parent agreement form PRIOR to registering. See attached form (on page 11), print, sign, date, and return back to [email protected] prior to April 1st. Any on line registrations received without the signed form will be placed to the back of the list until the form is received. After the 23 new spots are filled registration will close. After the 23 new spots are filled registration will go into a wait list. If a confirmed registered Dazzler drops out their spot will be made available to the wait list candidates based upon the order received.

Why are we limiting registration to only a total 50 Dazzlers?

• We are limited due to practice space and the amount of volunteer coaches we have.

Dazzler Rules:As our Dazzler teams work together in different cadences, lines, or groups we ask that our participants follow the below rules/standards:

1. We ask that all Dazzlers show up on time or 5 minutes early for each practice. As we only have one hour per week to practice we need to use every minute of the time we have together. If your Dazzler is late, it affects the entire team.

2. We ask that all Dazzlers show up on time or 5 minutes early for each performance. If your child is going to be more than 10 minutes late you must notify your coach. If you fail to notify your coach your child may not be able to participate as our coaches need to plan accordingly for any Dazzlers not present. Thank you in advance for understanding.

3. If your child is unable to participate in a practice or a performance we ask that you notify your head coach Mandy Glaves at least two weeks in advance so adjustments can be made to the routine. If your child has become ill, we ask that you text your head coach ASAP so adjustments can be made. If a practice is missed your child may/may not be able to perform at the next half time or performance if new material is taught.

4. We understand that emergencies and family situation do occur and we are happy to work with you IF you communicate with your coaches ASAP for us to adjust routines.

5. The 2-day camp in August is a MUST and is mandatory as this is where a great majority of our first routine will be taught. Unfortunately, we cannot waive this requirement for any Dazzlers. Thank you for understanding!
