TIPS & EXAMPLES

MONOLOGUE:

In this part of the test you must give a short talk on a topic for three minutes.

You have another THREE MINUTES to prepare individually.

Remember to introduce yourself to the examiner and to the other candidate.

Dulce (EOI)

Example

Hello/ good morning/ good afternoon. My name is Carlos Gonzlez and I am going to talk about my dream or ideal house.

Right now ,I live with my parents because I am still a student/ am unemployed, but if I could have the house of my dreams this would be enormous, with breathtaking views and really comfortable and cozy.

It would be near the sea and not far from a town where I could find all types of facilities. Say, it would be ten or twelve kilometres from the nearest town, where I could go shopping, to the gym, the doctors

The house would be a villa. With a swimming pool and a big garden. I would have someone to look after it, because I wouldnt have time to do it myself.

Inside the house there would be a huge sitting room with big French windows looking out to the garden and the sea. Spectacular views, which would help me relax after a hard working day.

On the other hand, it wouldnt be

Remember...

You can take notes during the minutes you have for preparation....But you cannot write full sentences. Only use them as a guide.

ADVICE:

Imagine you are having a drink in a caf while you are speaking to your partner...

Look at your partner while you speak- not to your teacher : Because your teacher will be taking notes on everything you say... good or bad...

The other candidate must stop looking at notes and listen to you...

In the INTERACTION part...

> You take part in a conversation with the other candidate. You have different information about an imaginary situation. The conversation lasts about 4/ 5 minutes. You have about three minutes to organize your ideas.Sometimes you must discuss as if you had opposite views on a topic.

It would be nice that you got to an agreement, but that is not absolutely necessary!

Other times you just ask and and answer about a topic.

Candidate A starts the conversation

All the test is recorded
