SECURE AIS Solution On-board AIS Solution Need: The AIS broadcasting standard is a reliable source for information sharing between commercial ships at sea and between ships and shore stations. However, organizations have a need for secure information exchange between their own assets in addition to normal AIS data exchange. Therefore, the ability for such organizations to operate securely is very important in the maritime world. Solution: CNS Systems offers a secure communication and surveillance solution that allows organizations to operate securely, discretely, and invisibly. The solution is comprised of AIS hardware and software components allowing organizations to communicate encrypted data. The AIS Secure system builds on existing AIS technology and supports a user to receive, schedule and transmit encrypted messages to other users. This can include transmission of secure text messaging and to receive encrypted range and bearing. The AIS Secure system can also support simulated targets for naval operations. The software component of the solution is Aldebaran II with the Sentinel module. Sentinel offers AIS standard and private communications capabilities to deliver a common operating picture to all friendly participants. Security is available through a silent messaging system which covertly sends predetermined safety messages at the touch of a button. Sentinel users can also receive, schedule and transmit encrypted messages to other Sentinel participants. An encryption key is used to encode all information that will be broadcast over the VHF data link (position reports, targets of interest, etc.). Receiving Sentinel systems then use the same key to decipher the secure messages. Sentinel has three modes of operation: standard, silent, and secure. In silent mode, covertly track AIS targets without being detected. In secure mode, transmit secure/ encrypted AIS information. Sentinel allows you to spoof your position by transmitting falsified OwnShip position based on a route. Other AIS participants observe the ‘Ghost Ship’ (not your actual position) without any indication of impropriety. Anti-Spoofing is accomplished using Behaviour Analysis. It provides Sentinel with the ability to detect intentional and unin- tentional errors in a targets transmitted AIS data. CNS Systems offers complete customization of this technology to address the unique requirements of your organization. Systems are scalable and can include an electronic chart display, navigation tools, sounder, AIS/radar interfaces and display. Organizations can jointly, or independently, benefit from Sentinel software, including Coast Guards, Navies, Police, Port Authorities, and National Security Forces. It is a very cost effective solution for the latest surveillance capabilities and one of the most comprehensive secure information systems in the world.

SECURE AIS Solution On-board AIS Solution

Need:The AIS broadcasting standard is a reliable source for information sharing between commercial ships at sea and between ships and shore stations. However, organizations have a need for secure information exchange between their own assets in addition to normal AIS data exchange. Therefore, the ability for such organizations to operate securely is very important in the maritime world.

Solution:CNS Systems off ers a secure communication and surveillance solution that allows organizations to operate securely, discretely, and invisibly.

Sentinel off ers AIS standard and private communications capabilities to deliver a common operating picture to all friendly participants.

In secure mode, transmit secure/encrypted AIS information.

Sentinel allows you to spoof your position by transmitting falsifi ed OwnShip position based on a route. Other AIS participants observe the ‘Ghost Ship’ (not your actual position) without any indication of impropriety. Anti-Spoofi ng is accomplished using Behaviour Analysis. It provides Sentinel with the ability to detect intentional and unin-tentional errors in a targets transmitted AIS data.

CNS Systems off ers complete customization of this technology to address the unique requirements of your organization. Systems are scalable and can include an electronic chart display, navigation tools, sounder, AIS/radar interfaces and display.

Organizations can jointly, or independently, benefi t from Sentinel software, including Coast Guards, Navies, Police, Port Authorities, and National Security Forces. It is a very cost eff ective solution for the latest surveillance capabilities and one of the most comprehensive secure information systems in the world.

Components:

VDL 6000 AIS Secure Class A System is based on our well proven AIS Class A system and can be confi gured in “receive only” mode or “receive and transmit” mode for positive identifi cation and positioning of all ships in the vicinity. - The shipborne AIS Secure Class A system consists of a Transponder and a Minimum Keyboard and Display (MKD) unit. - Can operate in three diff erent modes; normal AIS mode, silent mode and secure mode.

Aldebaran II with Sentinel module is an AIS surveillance and secure information solution. Sentinel off ers standard AIS and private communication capabilities to deliver tracking information to all networked Sentinel participants. Sentinel is the secure communication add-on module to Aldebaran II, a member of CNS Systems ECS product suite. - Sentinel has an easy-to-use control panel that appears on the Chart/Plotter window - User authorization required to access and display Sentinel features - Normal appearance when not logged into Sentinel mode - Unique AIS target icons for commercial vessels, designated vessels of interest, and Sentinel participants - Search, sort and fi lter targets for display in the Chart Plotter Window - Transmit and display received ARPA and VTS Tracks, position reports, and text & data messages - Highly confi gurable system interface - Aldebaran II supports multiple chart formats - Radar interface with any ARPA/radar - Advanced navigation features
