The Place to Learn Nanotechnology

Omni  Nano  is  the  only  non-‐profit  organization  in  California  with  programs  in  nanotechnology

education  at  high-‐school  level.  Copyright  ©  2015  Omni  Nano,  a  501  (c)  (3)

charitable  non-‐profit  organization.

Dr.  Marco  Curreli  Executive  Director  and  Founder  of  Omni  Nano.    11835  West  Olympic  Boulevard,  Suite  1155-‐E    Los  Angeles,  CA,  90064  [email protected]  424-‐248-‐8707

Nanotechnology   is   a   field   of   STEM

(Science,   Technology,   Engineering   and  Mathematics),  which  promises   to  deliver  high-‐tech   solutions   to   some   of   the   ‘real   worlds’  most   long-‐standing   concerns.   Nanotechnology  will   soon   directly   impact   everyone’s   life  regardless  of  location,  career  or  social  position.

Despite   its   growing   importance

nanotechnology   is   not   commonly   taught  before  graduate  school,  due  mainly  to  a  lack  of  properly   designed   curricula   and   educational  materials.

Our  mission  is  to   inspire   todays  youth

to   become   tomorrow’s   STEM   workforce   by  developing,   producing   and   disseminating  nanotechnology   curriculum   and   resources   at  high   school   level.  We  believe   that   introducing  students  to  nanotechnology  while  they  are  still  enrolled   in   secondary   education   will   help  prepare  them  for  their  professional  careers  in  a  globalized,  high-‐tech  economy.

Angeles,  following  the  successful  completion  of  a  pilot  program  in  spring  2014.

3. Nanotechnology  Curriculum  Project.  We  develop  high-‐quality  and  interactive  educational  material  to  teach  the  principles  of  nanotechnology  in  high  schools.  This  is  available  via  our  textbook  ‘Nanotechnology’  written  by  our  President  Marco  Curreli.  Free  Chapter  1  exerts  are  available  on  our  website  for  download.

Our  focus  is  on  our  mission  of  education

rather  than  a  financial  profit.  We  constructed  an  affordable  curriculum  whilst  maintaining  quality,  for  the  greater  benefit  of  STEM  students  and  their  families.

W ith  increased  help  from  sponsors  we

would  be  able  to  broaden  our  goals  and  offer  even  more  materials  and  workshops  to  high  school  students.

D isseminating  Nanotechnology  Education;

We  have  three  projects  that  we  have  produced  which  focus  directly  on  the  creation  and  dissemination  of  nanotech  education.

1. Discover  Nanotechnology.  Coordinating  with  high  schools  to  offer  free  workshops  in  nanotechnology.  This  is  one  of  our  most  popular  resources.  We  give  an  insight  into  STEM  by  demonstrating  nano-‐properties  through  a  super-‐hydrophobic  cloth  experiment.

2. Bridges  to  Nanotechnology.  We  bring  nanotechnology  courses  directly  into  high  school  classrooms  with  a  nanotechnology  elective  class  based  on  our  curriculum.  This  is  no  offered  at  St./USC  Magnet  School  in  Los

We  are  currently  asking  for  sponsorship  so  that  we

can  provide  take  home  pieces  of  super-‐hydrophobic  cloth  for  all  students  who  participate  in  the  Discover  Nanotechnology  workshop.  The  sponsor  of  this  project  would  have  their  company  logo  placed  on  the  cloth  alongside  Omni  Nano’s.  Our  aim  is  to  encourage  further  interest  in  STEM  /  Nanotechnology  by  giving  students  a  take  home  demonstration  that  they  can  continue  to  interact  with.

I f  you  are  interested  in  becoming  a  part  of  this  project

please  contact  Marco  Curreli  at  Omni  Nano.
