The 2011 “Ohio Educators Going Global” planning committee welcomes you to the 3rd annual Global Institute, Ohio’s annual conference for global and international education. Global education and international education emphasize different yet complimentary approaches. Both are necessary for our responsible participation in a democracy and as a world citizen. This three-day event will provide ways to expand our capacities
as educators to prepare P – 20 students for the Global Society of the 21st Century. This Institute gives us opportunities to exchange best practices and gain knowledge and skills while focusing on four strands of Literacy, Recreation and Arts, Social Justice and Sustainable Development.
As Roderick Page, Former U.S. Secretary of Education, said,

Global education and international education do not represent add-on curricula. They constitute multiple ways to enrich and expand curricula and contribute to teaching and learning in all classrooms. Curriculum that includes global dimensions and makes international connections gives educators a strong foundation for teaching and learning. When grounded in global and international education, we have the capacity to reach out to all students and their families in Ohio’s schools, as well as to educators and students around the world.
As we connect with our colleagues from Ohio, the nation, and the world, at the 2011 Global Institute, we will become resources for one another. We hope that you will find this Institute as enjoyable as it is informative.
