In your hands

The wins last night by KC and Sioux City trimmed a half game lead off the Cleburne advantage. The T-Bones not only need to take care of their own business but at this point in the race with six games to go they will need some help for a chance for the 2018 Champions getting the chance to defend their crown. They will play Texas two more times all on the road and will play Sioux City four more times all at home. Currently the T-Bones own the tie breaker head to head with Cleburne but are 3-6 against Sioux City. Obviously winning five games in a row would be the simple math but also depending on what happens could use some help. T-Bones fans might want to dust off any Sioux Falls gear or find some Lincoln love in their heart this week as both teams could help turn the race upside down. Also looking ahead to the weekend, the longer the North Division stays close the series at Fargo for Cleburne would also be one to watch and perhaps cheer on the RedHawks. The T-Bones need only to be even in the standings with Cleburne to move forward to post season. The schedule breakdown:

1000 K

With T.J. House strike out of Drew Stankiewicz Friday night in the first inning the veteran notched his 1000 strike out of his career. He

came in with 999 in 11 seasons including this season at Milwaukee where the lefty struck out 78 this season.

Tommy moves up Tommy Collier with the win last night now has 24 wins as a T-Bone. He is 10-5 this year after going 12-3 last year for a total of 21 wins. He also tossed two wins in the post season going 2-1. He is 24-9 and now sits 4th in franchise history but third since the team moved to KCK 17 seasons ago. Greg Bicknell 2004-2006 36 Jonathan Krysa 2003-2007 30 Jeremy McGarity (Duluth) 1995-1997 26 Tommy Collier 2018-2019 5 Cody McAliister 2009-2010 19 Joe Montgomery (Duluth) 1999-2000, 02 17

Lots of wins With the T-Bones organization in an unprecedented stretch of success on the field with three straight finishes above .500 in reach the

team has seen the organizations all-time record climb above .500 as well. On August 14th with the walk off win over Cleburne the

franchise hit the .500 mark and currently is 451-442 all time. No T-Bones club has ever had two straight finishes above .500 so this

shot at three in impressive overall under the direction of Manager Joe Calfapietra. The T-Bones did reach the post season three

straight seasons from 2008-2010 but only in 2010 did the team finish above .500. Last year the T-Bones set a franchise record for wins

with 62. All time win marks:

2018 - 62-37

2010 - 58-42

2017 - 57-43

2019 - 53-41

Thank you in Italian

Last night was the last game for the regular season for Chris Colabello. He will be joining the Italian National Team in a four-game series with Team Spain next week in Spain. The tune up for Olympic qualification is also to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of baseball in Spain. The T-Bones say “Grazie” to Colabello.

T-Bones Clinch Third Straight Playoff Berth in Blowout

08/28/2010 Gabriel Martinez blasted two home runs for the second straight night as the Kansas City T-Bones (53-38) clinched their third consecutive playoff berth with a 14-4 victory over the Rockford RiverHawks (44-48) Saturday night. It is the fifth straight win for Kansas City.

Kansas City scored twice in the first inning against Kyle Ruwe (6-8) on two hits and one RiverHawks error. Victor Buttler then pulled Rockford within one with a leadoff home run against Ryan Knippschild (10-7) in the bottom of the frame. Gabriel Martinez pushed the score to 3-1 in the top of the third with a solo shot, his first of the game. An RBI single from Jason James cut the T-Bones advantage back to one in the bottom of the inning, 3-2.

That’s as close as Rockford would get in the contest as a three-run fifth gave the T-Bones a 6-3 lead and chased Ruwe from the contest. A two-run home run by Martinez, his second of the contest, plated the first two before Ray Sadler immediately followed with a solo shot of his own. Ruwe left after a two-out walk later in the inning, taking the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits over four and two-thirds innings.

Martinez finished the game three-for-six with three RBI. He is now nine-for-21 (.429) with two doubles, five home runs and 11 RBI in his first five games with Kansas City. Knippschild surrendered his final run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Rich Austin before retiring his final five batters, three with strikeouts. The left-hander became the third T-Bones pitcher to reach double-digit wins after allowing three runs on six hits over six innings. It is the first time in franchise history the team has had three pitchers reach double figures in wins.

Todd Moser threw a scoreless seventh for Kansas City. Grant Ledbetter surrendered a solo home run to Jake Eigsti in the eighth and Casey Hodges added a perfect ninth to close out the game. Kansas City extended their lead to 10-3 in the seventh with four runs on five hits. Jim Fasano added three runs with a home run in the eighth and Jacob Blackwood closed out the scoring at 14-4 with an RBI double in the ninth. Five T-Bones drove in multiple runs and six Kansas City players collected multiple hits in the contest.

The T-Bones have now made the playoffs in three straight seasons for the first time in franchise history. It is their sixth playoff appearance overall, and fourth since moving to Kansas City in 2003.
