Five For FightingPAULY POTS THREE

Shawn Pauly stole the show at the Kids Day Game on Tuesday by posting the team’s first hat trick of the 2017-18 season with three goals and an assist against Tulsa. It was Kansas City’s first hat trick since Nov. 5, 2016,also against Tulsa, by Lukas Lofquistand was Pauly’s first career hat trick. He entered the game with one marker on the year before scoring twice in the game’s first seven minutes.

OFF THE SCHNEIDThe Mavericks snapped their three-game skid with the emphatic 5-2 win against Tulsa. Kansas City had entered Tuesday’s gamewithlossesinfiveoftheirlastsixgames before finding their way backto the win column against the Oilers.

PARSONS REGAINS FORMRookie goaltender Tyler Parsons began his career with a 2-1 record and save totals of 39 and 43 saves in those wins before hitting a slump. He regained his form onTuesday, stopping34 pucks while guiding the Mavericks to their first home win of the season.

ON THE ROAD AGAINThe Mavericks went 4-3 in a road stretch that took up seven of their first eightgames of the year and are now beginning a four-game road swing through the weekend. Kansas City will face Wichita tonight followed by Fort Wayne on Friday and Quad City Saturday and Sunday.

SPECIAL TEAMS BATTLEOne of the matchups to watch in tonight’s game is the Mavericks penalty kill against Wichita’s power play. The Mavericks were torched by the Thunder onFriday,withWichitagoing4-for-5onthe man-advantage en route to a 6-2 victory. Kansas City followed up that effort by killing off three of four penalties Saturday night and will look to keep their momentum going on the PK tonight.

Matchup To Watch: Mavs vs. Shane StarrettAssuming Shane Starrett is in goal for Wichita, the Mavericks will be presentedwith a puzzle they have not been able to solve in two tries this year. Starrett has stopped 81 of 84 shots faced against Kansas City this season while stymieing Kansas City’s power play. Being able to push a puck past the goal line early would be a big boost for the Mavericks in their first road game against Wichita this season.

Parsons Picks Up PlayRookie goalie Tyler Parsons regained his form on Tuesday, stopping 34 of 36 pucksto help the Mavericks seal the victory over Tulsa. Parsons had posted totals of 39 and 43 saves in two of his first three pro starts but slumped leading intoTuesday’s contest. His performance on Kids Day Game provided a big boost as the Mavericks improved to 4-1 on the year when being outshot by its opponents.

It was the Mavericks’ first hat trick since LukasLofquist’s against Tulsa on Nov. 5, 2016, and was the team’s 20th-ever hat trick.
