TRANSCRIPT
4-H member and club work is an educational curriculum. The purpose of education is to bring about desirable changes in skills, knowledge, and attitudes. A 4-H project consists of a member’s goals and their products from the start of the project year until its completion; a project is more than a fair exhibit.
You can start with a 3 ‘’ three ring binder, either

4-H Yearly Summary
◦ Organize by year, with the most recent year on top.
◦ The years should also be tabbed.
◦ Fill out one summary sheet each year you are in 4-H. It is easier to remember everything that you are involved in if you add to this sheet during the year.
One for each Project area There are 4 options
4-H Project Record
◦ Project name should be tabbed in alphabetical order. Use one of these for each separate project area – not each exhibit. All projects areas require 4-H Project Record sheets. (For example: one for Food & Nutrition, one for Woodworking, one for Rabbits, one for Beef, etc.) In the space provided, write your project goals and plans. Throughout the year record what you do and learn. Include individual or group projects, presentations, exhibits, and leadership activities. IF YOU USED THE COUNTY PROJECT SHEETS THOSE CAN TAKE THE PLACE OF THE 4-H PROJECT RECORD!

Have fun with this! Use your imagination but keep
it simple! Use the most important items such as newspaper clippings, photos, special awards received and so forth that relate to each project area. You may keep your Pictures & Clippings all at the end of the record book. Or These can be put right into the correct year and project area at the end. This would be your preference choice.
Record Book grading Rubric
You will need to have a Record Book Rubric for the judge to score you on. Put your name and year for your records on the page and leave in the inside top folder of your binder for the judge
This will also help you know what the judge will be looking for, so you can excel at your record book preparation.
This is a record book, not a scrapbook.
One large, three ring binder should be used. Usually 2” or 3” Green, Black or White.
Standard 4-H forms available from the Extension office and
recordkeeping forms found on the Iowa 4-H website http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/projects/recordkeeping.htm NO HOMEMADE FORMS!
It is important not to change old forms.
organize your record book in the proper order.
Do not include reference material in your record book.
If the specific 4-H Project Record allows space for a project picture, it may be attached on that project record.
Do not add ribbons or Project Pins to your Record Book
