I started sorting through my clothing in June in anticipation of the annual OLG Women’s Guild Rummage Sale. A few weeks ago, I picked through my books and donated about 100 for our religious books/icons/cd sale. With the help of Fr. Gilbert Puznakoski, Geoff Schnieder and a few others, we generated $504.00 for the Saint Vincent de Paul Soci-ety. This past week, I’ve moved the rest of my belongings to Saint Winifred Parish in Mt. Lebanon where I’ll be living to help serve there and at Saint Anne Parish in Castle Shannon. When Bishop Zubik officially announced in April that 2/3 of our 200 priests would be transferring and the other 1/3 staying in place, the move seemed a long way off to me. I

had requested the need for a change due to my silent stroke about 4 years ago during the August festival and my subsequent open heart surgery (my second) a year later. I’m a few steps slower these days and welcomed the op-portunity to be relieved of the administrative responsibilities as a pastor. In my new assignment I’ll be a Senior Priest with basic responsibilities for the sacramental and pastoral care of the parishioners. I also hope to complete a second book of stories which I have already begun. I have loved being the pastor of Our Lady of Grace Parish these past 14 plus years. I especially enjoyed maintaining a Catholic elementary school for our children. To be able to teach, lead and sanctify the wonderful people of OLG has truly been the richest experience of my priesthood this past quarter century. While I hope I have served you well, I thank you for being so supportive of me, especially through these difficult times of the scandal besetting the Catholic Church locally, nationally and internationally. I learned from one of the pastors I served with not to hesitate to apologize for any slight or harm I may have caused. So, I am sorry if I let you down or disappointed you in any way these past 14 years, or so. There are so many people to thank that I fear I would miss someone if I tried to extend my gratitude to everyone individually. Suffice it to say that without an excellent staff, dedicated lay leadership, hundreds of vol-unteers, beautiful families and loyal, generous parishioners, no pastor could fulfill the formidable vocation of teaching, leading and sanctifying his community. We have been blessed to have retired priests and a bishop to help at OLG over the years, especially during the months of my recovery from open heart surgery. One partner in ministry I do want to thank individually is Rev. Dr. Lawrence Sutton. Deacon Larry and I have served you to-gether on the altar of God these past 14 years, or so. His work with children on the autism spectrum is a remarka-ble achievement for him and for us. I will always consider him a dear friend and colleague. Finally, I want to extol the virtues of the priests and deacons who will serve you in my stead. Fr. David Bonnar, the administrator of both Our Lady of Grace and Saint Bernard parishes is a young, energetic and talent-ed leader who will work hard to bring about the merger over the next few years as envisioned by Bishop David Zubik. Fathers Benjamin Barr and Thomas Gramc are younger priests in their 30s who are articulate, enthusiastic and dedicated to the Church. Deacon Fred Eckhardt will join Deacon Larry on the pastoral staff of both parishes. Fr. Gilbert Puznakoski, who has lived with us for the past six years, will continue on as chaplain to the several health care institutions in our grouping. Fr. Robin Evanish will assist him in this formidable duty. God bless you. Thank you for allowing me to serve you and yours these past 14 years, or so. I will never forget you. Yours in Christ, Fr. Richard Infante, Pastor

OUR CAMPAIGN FOR THE CHURCH ALIVE (OCCA) As you know, we completed our 5 major capital projects this past summer with the replacement of all the windows and doors of our school/CCD building. Previously, we re-placed roofs on our properties on Bower Hill Road, installed new lighting and air conditioning in the Church, and put a new emergency alarm system in the school building. Because of your faithful and generous fulfillment of your pledges for OCCA the past few years, not only did we pay for all of these large projects, but we have enough capital funds leftover to complete two more needed projects before the winter months. In October, we plan on replacing the leaking school roof for $82,000. In November, we plan on repaving the driveway in front and the parking lot behind the Church for about $90,000. We are awaiting final approval for these two projects form the Diocese. Thank you for your outstanding efforts in support of your parish.

Farewell Receptions for Fr. Richard are being held after each Mass this weekend in Keefer Hall. Take a few minutes to express your sentiments to Fr. Richard as he moves on to his new assignment. Enjoy light refreshments as we gather to express our appre-ciation to our pastor of 14 years.
