Grades 1 through 6 took the opportunity to view a motivation presentation about how to be the best they can be. The morning announcement thought for the day

There is no I in team!!! was a perfect lead-in to this presentation.

We need to remember to do the best we can and help others each day.

10 QUESTIONS WITH MR. ROBERT WARDEN By Will Thompson, Stacey Senior

    1. Not many people get to say they worked for the Los Angeles Police Department, What was your best memory while working there? I would say that the people I worked with are the best memories

I have of the Department. I still correspond with my old partners a lot. Three of us had a reunion of sorts last spring (April, 2011). 2. Approximately how long have you been working at Stacey high school? I have been teaching at

Stacey since it was still Lackland Junior/Senior in 1995 17 years. 3. What keeps you interested in teaching economics? Teaching economics is part of the social

studies curriculum. Economics is the other half of the American System, i.e. government and economics. We all need and use economics every day, so its a very handy discipline to know something about. 4. What is your opinion on the future of the U.S. dollar? I dont worry about the U.S. dollar too much. These types of downturns the current recession is no exception come and go. A cheaper dollar just means we export more, but Americans overseas may have to use more dollars to buy stuff. In the end, a good education is both recession-proof and inflation-proof. 5. How do you view this graduating class, compared to the past graduating classes? This

graduating class seems to pull together a little better than some of the past ones. Hopefully, everyone will stay in touch after graduation. 6. What is your favorite college football team? The University of Tennessee! Go Vols!!

    7. What's your favorite restaurant you like to dine in? Thats a tough one. Probably Pompey Italian Grill out on Nacogdoches St. The name may say grill, but the food is first tier Italian! 8. Where's the most interesting place you visited while serving in the military? There were a lot of placesI guess Vietnam was the most interesting. 9. Where's the strangest place you visited while serving in the military? Vietnam was also the strangest for the same reason it was interesting. It was Asia, not Europe. (I PCSd in from Germany.) The people and countryside were a marked contrast to someone barely 20 years old and who had grown up in the South. Ill never forget it. 10. What's the most interesting fact that most people don't know about you? Theres probably not

too much people dont know about me by now. But I used to read science fiction a lot; not so much anymore. Id like to take a long canoe trip when I retire. Maybe canoe in the Boundary Waters

region up north between Minnesota and Canada. Frankly, Id enjoy just visiting

HOMEWORK CENTER Does your student need help with homework?

Does your student want a quiet place to study? Does your student want to start on homework with the help of a teacher?

Homework center is open Monday through Friday from 3:25-4:25 in room 4806 (Ms. Rabidass).

Please note that teachers and staff will have mandatory meetings on some Wednesdays. Ms. Rabidas will let the students know ahead of time when staff meetings are scheduled.

All students attending the homework center must: 1. Sign in and out on the homework center roster. 2. Arrive in homework center with all materials needed. Make sure you have your books, supplies, etc. Junior High students will not be allowed to go to their lockers, and for safety reasons, they must remain in the building. 3. Work quietly or read a book. You may work with another student if the teacher permits. 4. Let the teacher know if you need to leave the room for any reason. That includes using the restroom and/or going to your locker (high school students only). 5. Set your cell phone on vibrate. You may use the classroom phone on an emergency basis.

Students who are consistently unable to follow the above guidelines may be asked to refrain from attending homework center.

  • Recycling is the name of the game here!!

Dear Students, Parents, Faculty, and Staff of Lackland ISD~~ When you recycle your plastic bottles, do you ever wonder what happens to the cap? If you recycle the caps with the regular recycling program, they are simply cut off and discardedMost of the time, they end up in landfills, beaches, rivers, lakes, etc..

Have you thought of a way you could make a difference? Well now you can! AVEDA has a recycling program that has the cure.

Stacey is a proud part of Lacklands overall recycling efforts and is sponsoring the AVEDA program for recycling plastic screw-top lids from such things as soda bottles, shampoo bottles, peanut butter jars, etc... By sending in all our bottle caps to AVEDA, we can help save the future of our planet. So, take a stand! You can make one change today and see the epic results tomorrow!!!

The caps we are looking for are hard rigid twist off caps. There are collection containers located all around both campuses, so it shouldnt be hard to find one!

If you have any questions or comments, please contact Jania Nicholson or D.R. Stiller.
