Nutrients
Food contains different substances that are needed for health. These are nutrients, water and fibre.
All food and drink provide nutrients.
Different types of foods provide nutrients in different amounts.

Nutrients
Food is the source of energy for humans.
Energy is provided by the nutrients:
•carbohydrate;
•protein;
•fat.

Other nutrients are:

Fibre
Some foods also provide fibre.
Fibre is not digested by the body, but is needed to keep the gut healthy.

Different amounts of food provide different amounts of energy and nutrients.
