1) Need for unconventional energy since conventional fossil fuels going end

2) Too much ozone layer depletion

3)Cost effective and environment friendly energy at door steps

Typical output of a module (~30 cells) is ≈ 15 V, with 1.5 A current

New Encapsulant technology from DuPont promises long-term protection for solar cells, the most sensitive part of photovoltaic

modules. Brand : DuPont PV5200 Series :differentiation Encapsulant sheets will reduce the cost per watt Increase reliability and durability of the modules, allowing manufacturers to

deliver better performing, cost-effective solar power. They are five times tougher and 100 times stiffer than materials typically

used and make possible new module designs, such as building-integrated

photovoltaic (BIPV) tiles that can be installed on building roofs. Designed to meet the needs of thin-film solar power generation. they provide faster, more efficient module production& longer service life Solar power is often considered too expensive, a key factor in the slow

take-up, so DuPont's commercialization of the new technology could be welcome news for the solar-power industry

Solar Electric Energy demand has grown consistently by 20-25% per annum over the past 20 years

At present solar photovoltaic is not the prime contributor to the electrical capacities but the pace at which advancement of PV technology and with the rising demand of cleaner source of energy it is expected by 2030 solar PV will have a leading role in electricity generation

Current solar power capacity is 10 GW will climb up to 20 GW till 2015.

Currently solar power is 5% of total worldwide energy. Solar power is predicted to become 10% of total worldwide energy

in 2025. More competitive in terms of price also. Solar panel price is going

down so more countries are investing in solar energy.

Size of industry:

Worldwide: $29.6 billion

Major players: First Solar, Sun Power, China Sunergy (China), Suntech Power (China)

PV unit : Price per peak watt (Wp) ( Peak watt is the amount of power output a PV module produces at

Standard Test Conditions (STC) of a module operating temperature of 25°C in full noontime sunshine (irradiance) of 1,000 Watts per square meter )

A typical 1kWp System produces approximately 1600-2000 kWh energy in India and Australia

A typical 2000 watt peak (2KWp) solar energy system costing $8000 (including installation) will correspond to a price of $4/Wp .

Solar electricity prices are today, around 30 cents/kWh, but still 2-5 times average Residential electricity tariffs

Page 13: NPD Final PPT

B2B- Marketing of the product can be done through

Relationship with existing Customers. Direct contact

Awareness campaign through website, letters to industry players. participating in industry exhibitions

Branding: will be under the mother brand with code

Problems: Solar energy won’t be cost-competitive with

other forms of energy until 2015 today it relies heavily on subsidies.

growth depends heavily on the development of nationwide power grids

too many new products (claiming to be cost effective) confusing the consumers.

By 2020 global solar output could be 276 Terawatt hours, which would equal 30% of Africa's energy needs or 1% of global demand. This would replace the output of 75 new coal fired power stations. The global solar infrastructure would have an investment value of US$75 billion a year. By 2040 global solar output could be more than 9000 Terawatt hours, or 26% of the expected global demand
