From the President… By Susan Carrillo, CPSM
Dear Affiliate Members,
I would like to extend a warm thank you to each of you who
came to our October luncheon at Embassy Suites. We had
26 in attendance which is a great turn out. Thank you! One
of our goals this year was to have more lunches intermixed
throughout the year to provide more opportunities for those
of you who are otherwise booked in the evenings. It was
wonderful seeing you and I truly hope you enjoyed the
presentation on project management given by Steve Brown,
thank you Steve!
As previously announced our new website is almost ready
for its go-live debut. We will be sending out an
announcement upon its arrival and we are sure you will
agree once you see it that it is “Oscar” worthy. Sorry – I had
to get a little fun in there in anticipation of all the new
blockbuster movies coming out this fall … Hunger Games –
Divergent… just to name a few in case you are interested.
With fall time comes Thanksgiving and all of the wonderful
traditions which accompany this holiday. For me, this means
I get to find my stretchy pants after I take the last bite of my
favorite pumpkin pie and start planning my black Friday
bargain hunting activities with my daughter.
I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday! Please
remember to enjoy each minute you have been blessed with
and enjoy your family, friends, and yes…….even your co-
workers ;) I wish you many blessings and safe journeys if
you are traveling.
I and all of your board members look forward to seeing you
at our November community service at the Eastern
Oklahoman Food Bank on November 17th
. We have a limit
of 25 for this event so please sign up early if you are
interested in helping serve our community by packing food
for the senior program.
We take a break for December and then look forward to
seeing you again in January of 2016!
Buyer Dan Monthly Supply Chain Tips
What is Total Acquisition Cost?
In short, Total Acquisition Cost (TAC) is a measure of the total net cost incurred to purchase a production part, service or commodity.
TAC may also be referred to as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Here is the ISM definition of TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP (TCO ).
The combination of the purchase or acquisition price of a good or service and additional costs incurred before or after product or service delivery. Costs are often grouped into pre-transaction, transaction and post-transaction costs, or into acquisition price and in-house costs. To use cost of ownership analysis as a cost reduction tool, it is necessary to identify and analyze the cost drivers to look for any avoidable costs.
What are the typical Costs that make up a TAC model?
Cost of Product
Cost of Inventory
Cost of Transportation
Cost of Quality
Cost of Handling
Cost of Schedule Non-Compliance
Cost of Communication
Cost of Money
