Dear Parents / Carers,

This year is flying by so quickly, it’s hard to believe that Christmas is just

around the corner!

Your children have learned so much about Remembrance Day and

have undertaken some very poignant writing and painting activities.

They also observed a one minute silence impeccably. Our House

Captains represented the school at the Remembrance Day service at the

Church at Perton and laid a wreath at the memorial stone. We received

many comments about their calm and dignified manner. We are so

proud of your children, who are wonderful ambassadors for our school

wherever they go.

Best wishes,

Mrs Anne Bennett & the Team

GOVERNOR CORNER Welcome to this months Governor Corner where I will outline a couple of the schools priorities and what as Governors we will be strategically evaluating over the next year and more. Firstly the school will be continuing to develop its bespoke and broad curriculum inspiring childrens learning journeys in preparation for Ofsted's new curriculum focus. Secondly Governors will evaluate pupils progress in writing ensuring each pupil achieves a good progression from their personal starting points. We will evaluate and strategically question Teachers and Leaders as well as hear reports in committee meetings throughout the year so parents can be ensured each pupils journey is a high achieving personal one. I hope you enjoy the PTFA Fair and the wonderful singalongs, nativities and Christmas Concert during December.

Best Wishes Estee Griffin

CHRISTMAS CONCERTS—(Reception—Year 4) I know it’s a shock, but Christmas is coming! All of our Christmas concerts are listed within the ‘diary dates’ section of

this newsletter and in the calendar section of our website. Order forms for tickets have already come home in your

child’s book bag—spare copies are available on our website.

As you know, we have very limited capacity within our school hall and regrettably, children are not admitted to

performances, so this is a time for you to call in your babysitting favours! To help you, we do operate a staff run

crèche for one performance per year group. Please ensure you book your tickets for the performance with a crèche

if you need childcare during the performances.

The Y3 and Y4 Christmas Concert is held at the Church at Perton. Unfortunately there is no space for us to operate a

crèche there, so parents will need to make alternative childcare arrangements for these performances.

Many thanks

NEWS FROM THE PTFA

Our Christmas Fair is on Friday 13th December from 5pm—7pm. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Please come

along and join in all the Christmas fun! There will be stalls with gifts for sale made by your children, singing from our

choir, tombolas, a host of stalls and, of course, a visit from Father Christmas himself! We would love to see you there!

Remember that your children can wear a Christmas jumper on Friday 13th December as a thank you for

bringing in a bottle!

Are you planning on doing any Christmas shopping online? Please could we ask you to go via

www.thegivingmachine.co.uk and selecting Perton First School PTFA. Any purchases you make won’t cost you

a single penny more but the PTFA receive generous donations as a result.

Fancy winning the lottery and helping local good causes at the same time? Please consider supporting us by

purchasing lottery tickets at www.southstaffslottery.co.uk/support/perton-first-school-ptfa

Many thanks for all your support—we really do appreciate it

MARVELLOUS ME MarvellousMe has upgraded their Parent app this week. This new version delivers a 30-day News Centre (the number one feature parents have been asking for!), fixes notification bugs and includes other improvements. You may have already seen an email from MarvellousMe however, if you haven’t already done so, it is

essential that you follow the instructions below:

Check your device is running the latest operating software.

Update the MarvellousMe app via the App Store or Google Play.

To do this, type ‘MarvellousMe’ into the search bar, click on the ‘MarvellousMe for Parents’ icon and select

‘update’.

Your phone may have already updated MarvellousMe automatically in which case it will just have an ‘open’

button.

Open the MarvellousMe Parent app then tap ‘Settings’

Toggle the ‘Get device notifications’ switch off and back on again. Even if it shows as ‘On', you must switch it

‘Off' and ‘On’ once. This step is particularly important to ensure you receive MarvellousMe notifications going forward and benefit from the upgrade.

Many thanks
