Kia ora koutou, Congratulations to all of our students who participated to their fullest potential during the Oto South athletics last Friday. We had some excellent results on the day and some exciting finish-es. Thanks to all of our families who attended to support and cheer our students on. Yesterday was the COPS athletic event, our students performed very well. A big highlight of the day was the close 100m relay race against Maihiihi and Kio Kio which we were declared the eventual winner after a photo finish. In other sporting news we have Liam Clark, Callum Raine, Riedyn Brown Merrin, Rylan Percival, Jahrei Whata playing in a Friday Footsal competition team in Te Awamutu. They are playing really well having won all their grading games. They’re a very supportive team who are awesome at encouraging other players and who are working together without a coach and achieving good fun and excellent results. Today we have the Upper Junior Syndicate attending Te Kotahitanga Marae for a noho (sleepover). They have been learning about marae protocol and will take part in a powhiri as part of their experience. Tomorrow all Year 8 students and their families are invited to experience some time in Oto-rohanga College from 9.30am to 1.30pm. The day is intended to allow Year 8 students who are enrolling at Otorohanga College a chance to get to know the College a little better. All students attending this day must wear covered shoes in order to enter the tech rooms. I will walk with students to the College in the morning. Students may also meet us there. Board of Trustee news: We have successfully filled all of our recent permanent vacancies. Ayla Goddard will be teaching Yr 5/6. Ayla is very familiar with our school and knows our students and community really well. It’s great to have her back in a permanent position. Sunita McPhee will be teaching in Yr 3/4. Suni is a beginning teacher with a science background. Dannielle Williams who whakapapas to Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāi Tuhoe will be teaching Yr 5/6. Dannielle is an experienced teacher and is willing to lead kapahaka at school next year.
