connected from the core purpose of the organization then either the organization is bent on self-destruction or it had better assess its mission and make sure that what it is doing is core value directed. I use these typical business words to ask some questions of ourselves. What is the product that we are producing and is it a product that people want? The Archdiocese has lent us a hand in giving us some core things to examine when it comes to what we are all about. ONE CHURCH, ENCOUNTERING JESUS, EQUIPPING DISCIPLES, LIV-ING MERCY. As a parish, do we feel unified? As parish, do we encounter Jesus? As a parish are we equipping the Disci-ples...what is a Disciple? And as a parish are we living mercy.
For several months this past year the Grade School Board has been wrestling with some of these ideas. And in the process, attending to the agricultural roots of our parish, we came up with the following charisms for our school. ROOTED IN FAITH, GROWING IN COMPASSION, PRODUCING DISICPLES.
The Pastoral Council has been examining our purpose and discussing how we can better live our true mission...so we ask what is our Mission? The previous Mission discussion probably took place 15 or more years ago. I looked at that Mission and without printing it here...let me say...it needs some serious updating. I first of all tried to look at what I have learned about Holy Trinity since I have been here….and combining it with the Archdiocesan Vision and the words of the Grade School Charisms, here is what I coined.
WE ARE ONE FAMILY: ROOTED IN FAITH, NURTURING COM-PASSION, PRODUCING DISCIPLES.
This discussion with the Pastoral Council will intersect with a program from Our Sunday Visitor that we will be launching in a few months to help us look at our selves in light of our be-lief that these above words give us life and direct us to a fuller application of Jesus call for us to be His disciples.
Just like a family, we take direction from Dad and Mom, so I as pastor want us to move forward to strengthen our Disci-pleship Making Abilities. But when we just repeat what we have been doing without asking how it really leads us to do this; it is not a good way to do business. What I am asking us to do is take the house we have built and place it on a re-newed foundation and make some interior changes that will allow us do this work of God with wholehearted faith and hope. Specifically, when it comes to Stewardship, we will look at our Sunday collection offering and connect it to our core purpose. If we indeed believe in our parish and what it is all about, our sacrificial giving will become a sacrifice.
In so doing, I vision us being renewed in such a way that more and more of the parishioners will feel like “owners”, this is our (my) parish and I take responsibility for it and for all parts of it.

Masses on my Pilgrimage: Here are the intentions and the places where I had mass: 11/1, People of HT Parish...In a chapel in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem; 11/2, Faithful Departed...on Calvary in-side the Shrine of the Holy Sepulchre; 11/3, All Souls Day Intention...At Gethsemane; 11/4, Lucille Brady...At Mt Nebo, the mountain in Jordan from which Moses saw the promised land from afar; 11/5, People of HT Parish....Holy Martyrs Parish in Amman Jordan; 11/6, L/D Christian Mothers...Primacy of Pe-ter, outdoor setting on the shore of the Sea of Gali-lee; 11/7, Hugo Kathol...Mt. Tabor, the place of the Transfiguration; 11/8, Kristen Johnson...Nazareth.
It truly was a wonderful pilgrimage. I am spiritually unpacking it and will do so for some time. I use the images of what I saw and experienced to mediate on as I pray the Rosary. Visiting the tomb of Mary was really a wonderful new experience. Knowing more details of how the arrest of Jesus took place and what he would have seen as he prayed in the Gar-den...all these things and more are touching to my soul.
Stewardship in our Parish: The Bread and Butter of our parish’s life is the people who call Holy Trinity their parish. In Mission directed businesses the term Ownership is often used to help assess the life of the business. If the employees and the owners feel dis-

I am very well aware of the wounds that people carry in a small community, wounds from past experiences, past deci-sions, past personality rubs. I don’t know them all but I know enough to challenge us all to let go of this past. “Can’t do that,” you say. Well Jesus is the power we need to unleash to help us be a new people who will take those wounds and become wounded healers. One thing we can-not change...we are all human and we are all trying to do the best we can to live out our faith. Let the compassion we have, nurture & infiltrate our thoughts and actions, so that we can touch each other’s wounds with gentleness.
