Dear Parishioners and friends of St. Lawrence:

It seems like I’m getting out of town just in time.

We leave for the trip to Israel (Holy Land) on

Monday morning--with the artic blast coming in on

Tuesday. Hopefully there won’t be any travel issues

flying out of O’Hare in Chicago. Our return flight

should have us back on November 20th

, Wednesday

evening. Down in Louisiana, the phrase, “if God

says the same” is added to almost every human plan

as it is clear none of us are in control of our plans no

matter how simple they may be. The outline of our

itinerary is:

Nov. 12 – arrive in Tel Aviv

Nov. 13-15 – Tiberias, Galilee & Nazareth

Nov. 15-19 – Jerusalem and Bethlehem

Nov. 20 – Flight to Chicago – bus to Muncie

Mass is scheduled most days – except travel days and

all of us will be remembering and praying for all of

you, especially the future of all three parishes in

Muncie.

It is nice knowing that the parish is being left in

good hands. Fr. Bob is available to cover Masses,

funerals or pastoral needs. Sue is continuing to

develop new adult formation efforts, overseeing the

full parish formation program. Phil is on hand to deal

with any building or property emergencies and

oversee the parish financial situation. Liturgy under

Jason is well covered and provided for. Rob has the

school running smoothly with an energetic faculty. It

is good to be able to leave the parish in good hands

and well provided for.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank

Sheila Henry for all that she has done for the last 35

years to keep the Religious Education Program

running – recruiting, teaching, organizing and

preparing food for many of the activities and

sacramental programs. She has sacrificed much time

over the years. The parish owes her a deep and well

deserved thank you for that long term effort. Sheila

will be officially stepping down in January when the

parish will have a retirement celebration to honor all

that she had done. So Sheila, thank you for all the

lives you have touched, for the children who have

learned the love of Jesus for them and have loved

Him in return. For all that you have done in

counseling and guiding parents and families in the

religious education of their children and the

innumerable hours you have spent on behalf of our

parish families. Thank you! Sincerely,

Fr. Dave
