Mrs Pandolfo This is Mrs Pandolfo’s last week with us at GNPS before she goes on maternity leave. I would like to thank Mrs Pandolfo for all her efforts with Italian at GNPS, as well as all her hard work with organising sport this year. I would like to wish Mrs Pandolfo all the best and we are looking forward to meeting baby Pandolfo very soon!

Bye Bye Bullying Competition Congratulations to Luca and Loujane who won the poster competition for our Bye Bye Bullying competition. Luca’s poster will go into all the Stage 3 classrooms and Loujane’s into the Stage 2 classrooms.

UNSW Writing Competitions GNPS is very proud of the excellent results achieved by students participating in the UNSW Writing Competitions. Kindergarten Orientation 2017

Information Evening for Parents

Tuesday 11th October 2016 If you have a child commencing Kindergarten in 2017 you are invited to an information meeting on Tuesday 11th October, 2016. The meeting will commence at 6:30pm in KC’s classroom (Room 13). At this meeting you will be given information regarding Orientation Session times. We look forward to meeting you! Orientation dates are: Week 2: Tuesday 18th October 2016 Week 3: Tuesday 25th October 2016 Week 4: Tuesday 1st November 2016 These sessions will be a ½ day of the school day not a full day. The morning session will run from 9.30 to 12pm and the afternoon will run from 12.30pm-3.00pm.

Art Show Guessing Competition As part of the Art Show we will be holding a guessing competition. Students can guess the number of items in a large container filled with art and craft supplies. If they guess the correct amount they get to keep the container of art and craft supplies. One guess cost $1. This will begin tomorrow. Year 6 students will be selling the guesses at recess and lunch in

the playground.

The GNPS Art Show “….a thousand words” On Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd September, we will be holding our Art Show “…a thousand words”. Students and teachers are working very hard in their classrooms to produce some amazing artworks. The Art Show will open on Wednesday night from 5.30pm - 7.30pm, with the official opening at 5.30pm. It will also be open on Thursday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. There will be a sausage sizzle and drinks available each night. We hope everyone is able to attend one of the times and enjoy the creative artworks from GNPS students.

The Partners in Learning parent feedback survey This term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. The survey is conducted entirely online at home or on public computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 22 August and 21 October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary; however, your responses are very much appreciated.

Griffith Junior Cricket Registration Registration for any players from Kindergarten to Year 5 for the 2016 / 2017 Junior Cricket season will be held at the Exies Sports Club on Sunday 16th October 2016 from 10am to 12pm. Players can also register at GB Sports Store in Yambil Street Griffith at any time. Junior rep trials for under 12s and under 14s will be held at the Exies nets on Friday 14th October from 5.30 pm.
