Mea ning of the title: Rule, law , but

also in music a special, particular mel-

ody and sometimes mode .

Symbolic music for solo cello, possessing

an

extra-temporal

architecture based on

the theory of groups of transformations.

In it use is made of the theory of sieves ,

a theory which annexes the congruences

modu lo z and which is the result of an

axiomatic theory of the universal struc-

ture of music. This work is an act of

homage to the imperishable work of

Aristoxenes ofTarentum, musician, phil-

osopher and mathematician and fou nder

of the Theory of Music; of Evariste

Galois, mathematician and founder of

the Theory of Groups, and of Felix

Kiein, his worthy successor. Written for

Siegfried Palrn, it was commissioned by

Hans Otte of Bremen Radio.

Das Werk ist dem Andenken von Aris-

toxenes von Tarent, Evariste Galois und

Felix Kiein gewidmet.

Nomos bedeutet Regeln, Gesetze, in der

Anwendung auf Musik auch ,,besondere

Melodie nd manchmal

Modus.

Symbolische Musik

allein, von ausserzeitlicher Architek-

tonik, die auf der Theorie der Gruppe-

numformungen basiert. In diesem Stck

wurde von der Siebtheorie Gebrauch

gemacht, einer Theorie, die die Kon-

gruenzen des modulo z verbindet und d ie

aus einem Axiom der universellen

Musikstruktur hervorgegangen ist.

Dieses Werk ist einS Huldigung der

unsterblichen Arbeiten des Aristoxenes

von Tarent, Musiker, Philosoph und

mathematischer Begrnder der Musik-

theorie, von Evariste Galois, mathe-

matischer Beginder der Gruppen-

theorie, und von Felix Klein, seinem

wrdigen Nachfolger. Es wurde im

Auftrag von Hans Otte vom Bremer
