Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Digipak Analysis

The front cover of the digipak is a unique one. In the top left corner of the cover, there is the band name ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ this is shown over a darkish background so it will stand out and appeal to potential customers. The font used is the font that Gallagher always uses in his media, this will make people instantly recognise the media and would want to purchase. The image of Gallagher is blurred; this will give it a unique effect, something different to other album covers and therefore will again stand out.

The back cover for the album is rather different from the front cover, the back cover is white, this contrasts to the black font that the album name and track list are shown with. The font used for the track list looks to be done by hand, like it has been written on to the actual CD cover. Also on the back cover it shows what is included in the bonus DVD, the copyright information and the barcode. The images used in the bottom left corner of the page, are blurred images this will show to the audience that they may see what they are within the digipak, this will cause an enigma and leave the audience questioning.

The next image is a page within the digipak, it shows a picture of the frontman for the band, and who the band is named after, Noel Gallagher. It shows him looking away from the camera, and towards the next page, this is off the lyrics from the songs on the album, this is a good thing to include in the digipak, because its what people will want to know, therefore will more likely pay the extra for the digipak, rather than just the CD. The whole digipak pages appear to look like they are all from one scrapbook with the edges round the pages looking like they have come from some type of notebook. This is a good effect to use, it could also tell the user that making an album could be a long and on going process. The image on the left has Gallagher framed to the left of the page I think this gives a good effect because it looks like he is looking at the lyrics on the oncoming pages, like he is admiring his work.

The case for the CD has writing on the front, on this is shows who wrote each song, played what instruments, composed and produced it etc. This is essential information to have on the digipak, because it gives credit to the right people and lets the consumer know who wrote the music they like. White writing is used on a black background; this is a contrast to the lyrics page, however it still goes with the same theme. Since it is the back of the front cover of the digipak it does look like the back of the front of a notebook. The image used is very peculiar and the rest of the images look to be pasted into the page, again going with the scrapbook/notebook theme to it.
