Alcatel-Lucent 9341 Remote Radio Head 40W (9341 RRH40)
Use the TIL tool on first installation to configure the minimum parameters required for connecting the
Node B with the RNC/OAM access.
TIL functionsThe TIL tool:
displays the existing hardware of the Node B product
automatically displays hardware added to the Node B
provides basic maintenance and test capabilities for all Node B modules
saves reports (alarm, test reports) on a PC
retrieves the Node B hardware and software module configuration
retrieves IMT/FLR, EEC and radio logs
downloads Node B PM (Performance Measurement) files
downloads new software for Node B modules
configures Node B commissioning parameters and performs Callp commissioning tests
TIL description
The TIL consists of a laptop PC with a web browser connected to the active CCM of the Node B.
The TIL software is part of the CCM software and is loaded onto the TIL PC before connection to the
Node B. The TIL software is then always consistent with the Node B software release.

The Node B can also download its own software from a CD-ROM.
The TIL software offers an intuitive and graphical user interface (GUI) described inUnderstanding
the TIL GUI.
The following figure shows the TIL communication architecture.

4.3 TIL connection modesThis chapter describes the connection modes between the TIL and the Node B.
The TIL is connected to the active CCM/iCCM/xCCM using a TCP/IP connection. Two types of
connections are available:
Peer-to-peer connection
Remote connection
Peer-to-peer connection
In the peer-to-peer connection mode, the CCM/iCCM port 2 and xCCM port 1 have a hard-coded IPaddress. This address is factory-defined and is independent of the module. Thus, you always know
the IP address used to access the CCM for a peer-to-peer connection. An IP aliasing mechanism can
be used to define more than one IP address on the same interface.
The following figure shows the TIL peer-to-peer connection mode.
Figure 3 TIL peer-to-peer connection
The TIL is connected to the front panel of the CCM module using an RJ-45 Ethernet cable.
If the connection between the TIL and the Node B is successful, the green LED on the connected
port of the CCM module is lit up.
Remote connection

27/337
For a remote connection, you must know the public IP address of the CCM/iCCM/xCCM module in
the Node B. This public IP address can be fixed or dynamically assigned by a DHCP server. The TIL
does not handle dynamic IP address allocation of the CCM/iCCM/xCCM . If the IP address of the
module changes between two TIL connections, you have to know his new IP address for the second
connection.
The following figure shows the TIL remote connection mode.
Figure 4 TIL remote connection
The RNC acts as a router for IP traffic.
In remote connection mode, the TIL is connected to the network.
For OAM "in-band", that is, local network traffic, the I-node acts as a gateway between the OAM
subnetwork and the Node B subnetwork.
The following example is for information only:
ExampleTo set the network parameters of a CCM board, create a file /etc/rc2.d/S97NodeBRouter (suchas on the OAM main server) containing the following three commands to be executed on eachworkstation reboot:
For a client PC:
route ADD 10.1.0.0 MASK 255.255.255.248 10.1.20.107 -p
route ADD 10.1.0.8 MASK 255.255.255.248 10.1.20.110 -p
route ADD 10.1.0.24 MASK 255.255.255.248 10.1.20.97 -p

7/23/2019 Node B commissionig document.pdf
28/337
(-p to make the declaration persistent for a PC reboot)
For a client workstation:
route add net 10.1.0.0/29 10.1.20.107 1
route add net 10.1.0.8/29 10.1.20.110 1
route add net 10.1.0.24/29 10.1.20.97 1
Network connection applies to Node Bs in live UMTS networks only.
Two peer-to-peer connections between the TIL and the active CCM are not possible at the same
time. Only the last TIL connection is available; the previous connection is automatically stopped (if it
is not performing a software download or activation operation).
An ongoing download operation, is given priority, that is, if any client (TIL or OMC-B) is performing a
download then that client retains the connection and the new client must wait until the first download
is over.
The TIL terminal is disconnected when a Node B download starts from OMC-B.

4.4 Node B modesThis chapter describes the Node B connection and operating modes.
Node B connection modes:
Stand-alone.
The Node B is in stand-alone mode if there is no communication between the Node B and the
OMC-B and the RNC (for more information, seeReset in stand-alone mode).
Connected.
The Node B is in connected mode if it is operational, linked to the network, and can receivemessages on the Iub interface during TIL connection (for more information, seeReset in
connected mode).
To switch the Node B from connected mode to stand-alone mode, you must reset the Node B using
the TIL(Reset in stand-alone mode). At the end of the reset you must reconnect the TIL terminal to
the Node B. If there is no TIL reconnection within 15 minutes, the Node B automatically reboots to
return to connected mode.
Node B operating modes:
Normal mode.
In normal operating mode the Node B is connected to the OMC-B and it can be configured and
operated using the TIL and the OMC-B in parallel without any restrictions.
Maintenance mode.
When a Node B is set to maintenance mode using the TIL, it should only be configured and
operated with the TIL. The OMC-B user is warned that it is not recommended to issue commands
to the Node B when it is in maintenance mode and connected to the TIL for site maintenance. For
more information, seeManaging the Node B maintenance mode.
