Internal Assessment

So as to enable the students of Sociology to practice issues and concerns of society, they are

exposed to hard realities and recent trends in society. Hence, the assignments and skill based

projects are classified in the Internal assessment as follows:-

Field visits structure:-

1. Field visit observation, Making Notes, Documenting – 1st Month

2. Data Collection, Analysis & Interpretation – 2nd Month

3. Report writing & seminar Presentations – 3rd Months

Issues for the field are broadly categorized under these three headings:-

1. Social Problems – Slums, Remand Homes, old age homes, Orphanges, Rehabilitation

centres, Rural / Village Visit, Etc.

2. Understanding recent trends – Family, Divorce, living relationship, changing

trends in relation, violence against women, Gender discrimination, Harassment, Domestic

Violence, etc.

3. New Prospects of society, Avenues, vistas – Traffics related concerns, etiquettes

(mobile, public behaviour, civic sense), adapting to new technology, social networking,

etc., Industrial visits, MNC’s.

4. Constitution provisions & Rights for the protection & empowerment of women.

5. Participation of women in politics – Alternative parties.

6. Women Hindu code bill – Dr B R Ambedkar.

Teaching Methodology: -Class room lectures, Group Discussions, Paper presentation by

students in class rooms, Audio Visual aids, Guest lectures, Outreach Visit, Regular assignments

and test periodically given to students and valued.

The BOS also discussed about the introduction of the foundation course / skill development course

and extra – curricular programmes for the forth coming years.
