It is great to see the smiling faces and happy voices in our school corridors. Welcome back for another exciting year at LCPS. A special welcome to our new families. I know you will feel part of our community very quickly. This week, both the P & F and School Board held their first meetings for the year. Thank you so much to our fabulous parents who take the time to be part of our wider community, We acknowledge the time it takes and are grateful for your energy and zest. This week we have seen all our parent meetings take place throughout the school. Thank you to our sensational teachers and staff for ensuring our parents are well informed about their child’s education. Our staff have been very busy over the entire holiday period getting ready for the new school year. PARKING This is just a quick reminder about parking., For the past two weeks we have experienced some people getting flustered with parking. please take a deep breath and try to be patient and tolerant. We are blessed that the Church allows our parents to use the area near the basketball court and church as this is Church land, not the school’s land. All they ask is that we keep ten bays for our parishioners to be able to park as many of them are elderly. The only time they ask for is Tuesday to Friday from 8:45am - 10:00am Therefore I ask that you respect this and ensure that we don’t park in the bays. While on the subject of parking I thought I would mention that presently, we are placing bollards around the front of the school and extending them along to the bus embayment on Mardo Avenue. There is no parking allowed in this area, yet many parents are still trying to park on footpaths etc and this is causing issues. The safety of our children is the most important part of this and when you park in this area you endanger students. TOLERANCE I have also noticed that now we have increased the number of drop off zones from one to two, that some parents are reluctant to allow people coming out of the church, area to merge into the line so that they can also exit the school. Please remember to be tolerant and allow others to merge; there is room for everyone. CENTURION RUNNING GROUP What an amazing turn out we saw on Tuesday; so many students, Mums and Dads. We look like we have many enthusiastic families wanting to participate. This adventure was the brain child of Mr Bree Dudek, Mrs Kerry James and Mrs Catherine Hancock. What a team of go getters! We look forward our numbers holding. We hope you are enjoying this wonderful experience. ISSUE 1 DATE 9 th February 2017 NEWSLE NEWSLETTER

DEAR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS What a wonderful start to the school year we have had. It is great to see the smiling faces and happy voices in our school corridors.

BUCKETS FOR JESUS

Congratulations to the community for the generous support of the buckets for Jesus. Mrs Kristy Keeler and I travelled over to the Philippines in the holidays and joined up with Ruby and Mike to give out the educational bags to the children. The families were so happy to receive them and the looks on the children’s faces were just amazing. As a community you made a great impact on their lives. Today, Kristy and I spoke and shared our story with the children and any parents at line-up. Please do not worry if you missed the line-up as we will upload the songs and photo footage onto the website. It was an amazing journey and really helped you to appreciate all we have in Australia. SCHOOL FEES PAYMENT CASH, CHEQUE OR DIRECT DEBIT Direct Debit can be set up in two ways: CATHOLIC DEVELOPMENT FUND: This is a formal arrangement between parents and the Catholic Development fund whereby periodic payments are deducted from a bank account of your choice. The forms are available from the school office. ONLINE VIA THE INTERNET: Payments for school fees can also be set up via your own Banking Institution online, in the same way you use Internet Banking for personal bill paying. Most Banking Institutions offer an online “future payments” facility which can be set up to pay on a periodic basis. The school’s BPAY reference number is shown on the bottom, left side of your Term Statement. Each family is allocated a unique Reference No which is also shown with the BPAY Reference Number on your Statement.

A reminder to parents who are taking advantage of the direct debit facility through CDF, to review the amount being deducted to ensure that it will cover your fee commitment for the year. To make alterations to current arrangements, forms are available from the school office. Please be aware that the school does not have the authority to adjust the direct debit arrangements on your behalf without written consent. HEALTH CARE CARD DISCOUNT SCHEME Holders of a means tested family Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card with the code PPS are eligible to

apply for the Health Care Card Tuition Fee Discount Scheme.

To be valid, the HCC must be current in first semester—between the commencement of the school year and the end of Term 2. The discounted fee covers Tuition Fees only and all other Amenities Fees and Levies will be charged at the full rate. Please present your card at the office and complete an Application form. Fees will be processed and sent out in Week Three of Term One, therefore the cut-off date for these applications is Friday 10th February. For those families who participated in this scheme last year, YOU MUST RE-APPLY EACH YEAR to continue receiving benefit from this scheme.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMS This year the students in Year 3 and 4 will be receiving the Sacraments of Penance (Reconciliation) (Yr3), Eucharist (Yr4) for the first time, and our Year 6 students will be Confirmed the beginning of Term 3. It is important that parents and children intending to receive one of these Sacraments read the schedule of ‘Sacramental Dates’ attached to this newsletter carefully. Students who are baptised Catholic but who are not in the year groups receiving any of these sacraments this year may do so through a special Sacramental Programme. Please speak to your classroom teacher or see me if you wish your child to be included in one of these groups. Brigid Bryce
