Clean City AwardSt Botolph Building has been nominated once againfor the City of London chairman’s cup for wastemanagement for 2017. The ceremony was held onFriday 26th January at Mansion House. St Botolphcame away with their 3rd Platinum Award which isthe second highest achievement.

Art work - Sam ShendiThe beginning of the year brings us new fresh

outlook to our reception lobby with four art figures. These sculptures are a part of Sam Shendi’s “OnlyHuman” collection. Graduating in 1997 with a firstclass BA degree with honours from Helwyn of FineArts in Cairo, Egyptian born sculptor Sam Shendicreates joyfully coloured abstractions of the humanfigure which, with the subtlest of indicators, hints atthe complexity of human interactions.Shendi’s work references the work of “minimalism”,the style of paring-down design elements andfocusing on the medium of steel, aluminium andpaint. Some of his works are deceptively simple inform but include the qualities of metaphoricalassociations, symbolism and suggestions of spiritualtranscendence, which is what the artists of the 60’sand 70’s were trying to avoid. His work whittles down the human figure to itssimplest form enabling the exploration of the ideaof the human form as a vessel. So by reducing thehuman body to a container or minimal shape, hiscreations become centred on an emotion or anexpression.

Everyone came in creative by having their own style Christmas Jumper for Save the Children charity on December 15th.

We had our Christmas party at the Alice Bar, bringing everyone together and we had a brilliant time! There was a lot of laughter, drinks and nibbles and of course boogying downuntil late. It was a perfect opportunity to celebrate another successful year.

Charity Drives

Just like every year, St Botolph Building organises and participates invarious events to raise funds for the ones who need it the most. With arange of events taking place in the building throughout the year, weraised £702 and have donated this to Save the Children.

December 15th last year was marked as Christmas Jumper Day, bringing alot of festive and colourful reindeers, Santas, even a Chewbacca roamingaround. This event was another occasion to help millions of childrenacross the world that don’t have access to facilities and meals.

The St Botolph Building also raised £270.75 in last year’s Poppy Appeal, the largest fundraising campaign of the Royal British Legion, that remindsus of all the sacrifices made in the past, but also supports the futuregenerations of the Armed Forces.

We always ensure that any vendors that we work with donate 10% oftheir earnings to different charities. This year we will continue to help thelittle ones, so your donations can really make a difference and help thembe children again.
