Newsletter May 2016:
Dear Parents / Carers and Copenhagen Children,
This term has just flown past and has been a half term filled with fun learning experiences.
Our Year 6 and Year 2 have all worked exceptionally hard to complete their SATs and
have shown a brilliant attitude to the tests. All the teachers and support staff are very
impressed with the effort and perseverance of all our children. Well done everyone for
trying your best. This month’s value of patience applies to our pupils awaiting their final
results.
We have been working on developing values and the MindUp programme so that it is
intrinsic and fully embedded in everything we do. Visitors to our school have made com-
ments on our calm and purposeful learning environment, and also, how happy our staff
and children are. I hope this will flourish and continue to support us in our drive towards
excellence.
Best wishes,
Miss Patel

Eight families successfully graduated from our FAST programme last week. The school hall was decorated fan-
tastically with a beach theme by our FAST team, and the families all dressed up to the occasion. Gunnersaurus
from Arsenal paid us a visit, awarded some medals, and gave some toys to the children. All the families also
received a trophy, a framed photo of their family, printed affirmations, and some gifts from the school. We all
shared a delicious dinner of egg-fried rice, noodles, spring rolls and more, and finished off with a slice of gor-
geous cake cooked by one of our talented mothers. Professional photographers recorded the event; if you
would like to see more, have a look on our Twitter page @CopenhagenP, or visit the school office to see a copy
of our article in the Islington Gazette. If you are interested in us running the programme next year, or have ques-
tions about it, please see Eleanor.
Values-based Education We are a Values-based school that seeks to promote an educational philosophy based on valuing self,
others and the environment through the consideration of an ethical values vocabulary.

Families and Schools Together
Head Boy and Head Girl
Year 6 Federer have now done their SATs. It was a little bit difficult but everyone done a lot of work so I
think we are all going to pass it. Now the SATs have ended, we are doing our last story about Thor and the
battle of Vanaheim. We are doing a new topic and it’s called ORI and we are also doing work on Anne
Frank. It’s fun!
EDUCATIONAL VISITS AND TRIPS
Nursery went on a trip to Little Angel Theatre to see ‘We’re going on a Bear
Hunt.’ This is one of our favourite stories so we loved seeing it being brought to
life on stage!
Eco councillors went on a trip to Kew Gardens and we were very
lucky to have the sun shine for us! We learnt about different plants
and even went across the treetop walkway where we had spec-
tacular views of the gardens below! Our favourite part of the day
was when we saw the peacocks surrounding the waterlily pond.
They are beautiful animals and watching their wings spreading was
a great ending to the day.
Year 3 Weir went on a trip to the British Museum to learn all about Greek
Myths and the history of Ancient Greece and Egypt. We also enjoyed a
presentation on the tell-tell signs you would also see in Ancient Greece to
identify one of our heroes. Ask anyone in year 3 who they would be looking
at if they saw a hero with a lion skin cloak and I’m sure they’d be able to
tell you, can you?
SUMMER FAIR
We are holding a Summer Fair on Friday 8th July from 3.45pm-6pm.
Please join us on Tuesday 15th June at 9.10am to share all your wonderful ideas.
We would love to have a range of international food. Please let the office know if you are able to cook for
us. Please remember not to add any nuts in the food due to allergies.
We are planning to run a ‘Copenhagen’s Got Talent’ show for the children.
We do need some parent helpers. Please sign up in the school office and show your support!

Copenhagen ICT - Mr. Bint
Over the past term we have been learning
about the difference between the 'Internet'
and the 'World Wide Web' and how data is
transferred across networks. In the closing
weeks of this academic year our key concept
will be focused on 'creation'. Each of our stu-
dents will learning to integrate all their ICT &
Computing skills to create projects, programs,
applications and digital media that serves a
purpose for others within their community.
As you know we have two fantastic edible gardens on our school grounds, built by Trees for
Cities, which our pupils play a big part in maintaining. So when Trees for Cities contacted us
asking if we were interested in being filmed for Newsround to show how we use our gardens
for learning we couldn’t say no! What a fantastic achievement for the school and a big
thank you to all children who were involved in the filming. You are all stars! If you haven’t
seen the clip already please visit: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/36073295
Copenhagen children participated in an Art and Poetry Competition. Their work had to
represent one of the British Values: Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty and Mutu-
al Respect for and Tolerance with those with Different Beliefs/Faiths.
Congratulations to Gerard in Ennis Class, for winning the Art and Poetry Competition at
the North London Grammar School!

EYFS Reading workshops for parents/carers every Friday
School starts at 9:10am and finishes at 3.30pm. Nursery finishes at 3.15pm. Please ensure your child is at school by
9am in order to be on time and that you pick your child up from school at 3.30pm (or 3.15pm if they are in Nurse-
ry).
Missing school makes it hard for children to catch up and pupils have to work harder when they return to school.
Please help your child maintain good attendance and punctuality by coming to school on time, booking doc-
tor/dentist/optician appointments for after school hours, at weekends or during school holidays.
If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason, then please let us know. When your child returns to
school, please complete a pink absence slip and where appropriate provide a copy of the appointment card/
hospital letter.
