Upcoming event: TERM 3 Week 3:
PLC week and Field Carnival and Track Carnival
What a great community! Robin Wheeler, the principal of Afterlee PS,
spoke to me last week about the great
impression presented by the community on
election day. ‘The sun was shining, parents
were happily providing coffee, sausages and
delicious food, students were performing on
marimbas and the atmosphere was so
welcoming and vibrant.’
Additionally local historian, Denis Matthews,
posted on social media about the Dunoon
community. He was impressed by the
wonderfully independent group of marimba
players and the seamless way students
transitioned from one song to another. He also
enjoyed the beautiful community atmosphere
that was created by parents and helpers. Thank
you, everyone.
Zone Cross Country Carnival at Corndale this Friday.
Best of luck to all our students who are competing this
Friday! On arrival, please report to the Dunoon District
Cross Country manager, Mr Condon (Whian Whian).
Mr Condon will mark your name off
and he will collect your form.
Before leaving Corndale, please
have your name marked off again by
Mr Condon. Thank you
Eurovision Dunoon Style
Students have had a planning session last
Tuesday to think about what they would
like to perform at our upcoming Eurovision
Dunoon Style. This is totally student driven
and it requires creative thinking and
collaboration. It’s always exciting to see
the raw talent on display! Students could
sing a song, perform a dance, tell some
jokes, a story, a piece of poetry, or
anything else that would be entertaining for
an audience. Students then audition their
item to a teacher for quality control! We’re
looking forward to our creative students
displaying their talents. Our event will be
held on Thursday 4th July, commencing at
9.30am.
Kitchen Garden is on TUESDAY this
week, 3pm - 4pm. If any students
would like to stay after school to
help, please text Lyndell on
0419040256 to confirm.

Our 4 week gymnastics
program has now
finished.
It has been a lot of fun
for the students and the
coaches from North
Coast Gymnastics were
fantastic!
Citizen Scientists
Year 3/4 students are undertaking a Citizen
Scientist program in conjunction with Landcare
and a local Macadamia Farm. Our aim is to see the
real world application of things we learn at school.
There will be dip netting, insect collection and
dung beetle investigations. This will enable the
farmer and Landcare to gather baseline data of the
insects in the orchard and measure the health of
the wetland area which will help to gauge its
success as a method of pollinating the macadamia
trees. We hope to learn lots about pollinating in-
sects (and also to get a little bit muddy).
