PRINCIPAL’S PEN Dear parents/guardians
Thank you to everyone for making swimming so easy this year. We have been blessed with good weather and from the smiling
faces I’ve seen getting off the bus, the students have enjoyed their lessons.
Staffing 2021
Next year will see some changes to our school staff with some of our long term teachers and staff members leaving us.
We have already announced that Miss Longman and Miss Baker have left our staff for 2021 to work in Bidyadanga and
Karratha respectively. Moving to country or remote locations to teach is always so rewarding and I know they will thrive in their
respective new schools.
At the end of this year, we will also be farewelling Ms Gow who is taking long service leave for Term 1 next year and then has
decided to retire. Ms Gow has been working at Creaney Primary School for over 30 years and has made a difference to
thousands of children in her time here. We will miss Kerry’s calm demeanour but I know she will be back to visit us next year
in a volunteer capacity.
Our School Chaplain, Tim Mullen, has announced that he has been successful in gaining a position on staff at Tabor College
where he has been studying for the last two years, and will be leaving Creaney PS. Tim has been the Chaplain here at Creaney
PS for 7 years, which is an amazing amount of time. He too has touched the lives of hundreds of children and families during
his tenure at Creaney PS. I wish Tim all the very best for the next phase of his working life.
We advertised and interviewed a number of teachers at the beginning of this term in the case that we may need to employ
new staff for 2021. In our newsletter in Week 10 we will be able to announce the names of these teachers. I have also
interviewed a new School Chaplain and will announce this at the same time.
Thank you
It has been a wish for our junior primary area to have a cubby house for the students for a number of years. Thanks to three
very talented and dedicated Dads, we have finally had our wish granted. Thank you to Yari Kostecki, Tim Crouch and Yann
Benefield for their efforts last week. Judging from the smiles on our students’ faces this week, they are very happy with the ir
new play equipment.
Colour Run
We announced the winning classes of our Colour Run at our last assembly. Congratulations to the following classes:
1st E2
2nd A4
3rd B3

Our individual fundraising champion was Tahlia S (E2) who raised an amazing total of $685! Congratulations to Tahlia who
will receive her prize at an upcoming school gathering.
Thank you to our P&C for their unwavering support this year; despite the interruption to the school year from COVID, they still
managed to do an amazing job of supporting our school through fundraising events. Their final meeting for 2020 will be held
tomorrow evening, Wednesday 2nd December, at 7:30pm in our school staff room.
Awards Assembly – Friday 11 December
Our next assembly, and the final whole school assembly for the year is our Awards Assembly. This assembly gives us the
opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our students and farewell our staff who are leaving among other things. The parents
of the award winners have been notified.
The assembly will also include the awarding of our Term 4 Creaney Community Awards, which is an initiative of our School
Board. We had nominations for the following community members this term:
Samantha McCulloch Teacher Outstanding teaching
Emily Palmer/Samantha McCulloch Teachers Pop-in-and-Play initiative
Tonny Dielesen Teacher Outstanding teaching
Tim Crouch Community Member Outstanding service to our school
Tim Crouch/Yari Kostecki/Yann Benefield Community Members Junior primary cubby house
Dale Hoy Community Member Bush Tucker garden
Good luck to all of our nominees.
Graduation
Our Graduation ceremony is going ahead as planned and according to COVID restrictions. We have allowed each student to
invite two (2) guests to the ceremony, which is the maximum we are permitted due to the size of our Hall and considering the
other invited guests. We have changed the place of the morning tea so that more guests can come along to that part of the
ceremony, which will be held directly after the graduation.
EduDance
Our EduDance program will be back in Term 1 next year for students from Pre-primary to Year 6. We are very excited about
resuming the program and look forward to a full term of dance and the associated concert. The cost for EduDance has been
set at a maximum of $40, which includes 9 lessons and the concert. The notes for this will not go out until next year and prompt
payment is appreciated.
As Dance is part of our school curriculum, it is expected that all students will attend.
Year 5 & 6 students will participate in both EduDance (Term 1) and social dance lessons through Humphrey’s Dance School
(Term 4) as preferred by parents of those students in the survey put out earlier this term.
School Development Days 2021
Our School Board have approved the following School Development Days for 2021.
28/29 January 02 March 19 July 11 October 17 December
Where possible, we have aligned our School Development Days with other Network schools.
Finally, I will be taking long service leave for the final two weeks of school and the first week back of school next year. Ms
Kristy Harrison will be stepping into the role of Principal during this time and Mrs Emily Palmer will be acting Deputy Principal.
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our school community for your support and involvement this year. It
certainly has been a year like no other and one where words such as “COVID-19”, “pandemic”, “unprecedented” and “social
distancing” have become a regular part of our vernacular, and commodities such as toilet paper and hand sanitizer have
become more valuable than gold. The thing that we learnt above anything else was how lucky we are to live in Australia and,
within that, how lucky we are to live in Western Australia. The support we have shown for one another has been a testament
to the community spirit we have here at Creaney Primary School – thank you.
I wish everyone a happy and healthy festive season and look forward to seeing everyone back in the new year.

DEPUTY’S DIALOGUE PEAC Results
We have been advised that PEAC do not have an expected date for results of the recent Year 4 testing program. They are
hoping it will be in Week 10 of this term, however if we don’t receive it then, it won’t be until the start of Term 1 2021. This
applies for current Year 4s who were recently tested to see if they place in the 2021 PEAC program.
Weeks 9 and 10
We all wish Ms Monamy a great holiday, which she will commence at the end of this week as she will be on long service leave.
Mrs Palmer and myself will be all action in Admin as we wind up what has been an interesting 2020.
Ms Kristy Harrison
Deputy Principal
CHAPLAIN’S CHAT Thank you everyone for your generosity in donating so many gifts and stationary items! This will make many people happy at
what can be a difficult time.
Left: lots of toys for people in need!
Right: Lots of pre-loved and brand new stationary for GiveWrite!
Secondly, you would may already know that this will be my last term at Creaney Primary School. I am leaving YouthCARE and
Chaplaincy to take on a 4-day-per-week position at Tabor College of Higher Education as lecturer and also a leadership role
on campus. This is an exciting challenge for me, but also a sad moment to say goodbye to what has been a wonderful school.
Thank you Creaney families and students for the amazing memories; this school has such a strong community that I have
treasured being a part of.

Tahlia S E2

Ethan L A4
Beau D B3
Sophie D B5
Mikaela C A2
Madison O B1
James M B5
All funds raised will go towards much needed playground upgrades and the Mathletics program.
Don’t forget school banking!
The Creaney Primary P&C is excited to offer the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program to all students. Please see
the lovely ladies in the meeting room opposite the office on Monday mornings from 8:15-8:35am for more information.
School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way for young Australians to learn about money and develop good savings
habits.
School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Contribution of $5 for every 10
deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution, which is based on the number of students who made at
least one School Banking deposit in the prior year.
P&C Meetings
As always, we would welcome anyone to come along to a P&C meeting and get involved in fundraising for our school. The
more hands and minds working together means less work for a few and more opportunities to do more. Our next meeting is
this Wednesday 2nd December at 7:30pm in the staff room. We would love some new faces to join us as we head into 2021.

INTERESTED IN SAFETY FOR LOCAL KIDS?
IT’S EASY TO HELP AND YOU COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Safety House is a community based “Good Neighbour” program of volunteer householders organised by a local Safety House Coordinator. It is easy to become a Safety House, it costs very little to obtain a three year Working with Children Card and you could be helping to help protect vulnerable young children in your community.
You can make a difference for kids in your local community.
WHO CAN BE A SAFETY HOUSE?
A Safety Householder must be a caring adult who is generally in, around or near their home during school travel times. They should ready and willing to cheerfully assist any young child who might seek help at their door.
This is to make sure that a child in need will have a good chance of finding someone at home if they knock on a Safety House door for help.
A house must have easy street access to the front door, no screening walls or trees and a Safety House sign easily visible from the street. Dogs are no problem but they should be safely inside the house, secured at the rear of the building or kept well under control of the Safety House person.
This is to make sure that a young child will be able to find, and get the front door of the Safety House door easily and will not be frightened away.
In every Safety House there must be at least one adult who holds a valid Working with Children Card. If necessary, the Safety House WA Office can provide you with a Safety House Volunteer Working with Children Card application form that will entitle you to a community volunteer application fee of just $11.00, saving $76. Every resident aged fourteen and over must also give consent for Safety House WA Inc. Head Office to obtain a National Police Check Certificate.
If this sounds like you, please email [email protected] to find out more information!
