This week
Another hot but excellent week at St Cuthbert
Mayne! This week we have enjoyed Odd Sock Day,
Alice the Musical and my Headteachers Induction
Mass, as well as continuing with our school routines.
The majority of Year 6 have also attended their
Induction days at their new schools and have
returned with exciting news about what they are
looking forward to.
Thank you to the Year 6 team led by Mrs Bacon who
carried out an archaeological dig of the PE shed and
audited our PE equipment. At our School Council
Meeting this week, we discussed what the children
would like to spend the Sainsbury’s Active School’s
vouchers on as we have collected over 14,000!
Please remember that Thursday 13th July 3.30pm—6.pm is our Open Evening and a celebration of pupil
learning. This will also be an excellent opportunity for you to say thank you and goodbye to your child’s class
teacher. This is not a formal parents’ consultation evening but I will have a Head teacher's ‘Open Door’ drop
in session during this time.

Our new school entrance...
...is now open and is in operation. Well done the School Office Team who have shown huge resilience and
humour during the building works. Our next phase is to improve the appearance of the outside of the lobby
and make it more welcoming.
Thank you for bearing with us as we learn to operate two entrance doors and a new intercom system.
School places available for September 2017
It has been wonderful once again to welcome our new Reception Children into school this week for a longer
settling in session. We still have a limited number of spaces in year groups across the school, although some
Year groups are now full. If you know of anyone who would be interested in joining our school family then
please ask them to contact the school office to arrange a visit.

Alice the Musical
Wow! Well done to the Drama Club on your performance of
Alice the Musical this week. It was fantastic! You have all
worked so hard and it showed in your excellent
performances. I was lucky enough to see this three times
and I could still watch it again with great enjoyment. A huge
thank you to Miss Board who was both Producer and
Director of the show. She was ably assisted by: Musical
Director Miss Longmire, Props manager Miss Morrin, and
Chaperones Mrs Trawber, Mrs Bacon and Mrs Woodhams.

Bikehana 2017
Thank you to everyone involved for making Bikehana such a great success. The event was held last Sunday and over 100 cyclists took part in events such as the obstacle course. The weather was fantastic and lots of money was raised. Thank you especially to Mr Worthington who organised and ran the whole day. Please can all sponsorship money be sent into school office by MONDAY 10th July in a named envelope.

New Headteacher’s Induction Mass
Thank you to all those who were able to
attend my Headteacher’s Induction Mass
yesterday. It was a very special event and I
was delighted that members of my own family
were also able to attend as well as
representatives from the Diocese and Local
Authority, Governors, Parishioners, Parents,
past and present staff and most importantly-
the children. A special thank you to Fr. David
for leading the Mass and also to Miss Loveder
who sang the psalm for us.
